"We did a scene together"..... "We did a scene together?" Poor Clint died a bit inside.
9:39 - If you go frame by frame you can see the instant Clint's heart breaks in two.
I mean she probably has made some many freaking projects that is impossible to easily remember. Still, poor Clint’s heart :(

I don't know if this would be a thing that your channel would do but seeing that clip of Laura Bailey made me want to suggest getting professional voice actors for video games, animes, animated shows, etc. on and seeing them react to both great and bad voiceovers! It'd be even more interesting if you could also get them to talk about mo-capping as well.
That would be so cool!
Imagine if they could get Mark Hamill on set. That would be amazing!
That is an excellent idea!
Agreed
The Old Republic cut-scene-trailer-thingies are BY FAR some of the best light saber ANYTHINGS I've seen in a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time. They feel so good to just watch !
Watching any of the Old Republic trailers makes me feel so hyped they just look so good.
Absolutely. Growing up reading all the SW Extended Universe books, so many fights I could only picture from words were more awesome than anything that happened in the movies. So disappointing they just copy the trilogies and just re-vomited the same narrative out, instead of taking inspiration to move further ahead.
old republic cinematics are fking sick
Shame the online game is such a let down though, kind of limited by what you can do in The Old Republic MMORPG.
Coming from the future to say I really dislike what Disney did with the sabre fights. I know George Lucas gets a lot of shit for his work on the prequel films, in some cases fairly (should not have gone as heavy on the CG as he did in the first one, the tech wasn't ready for it even if it improved by the third) but I vividly remember watching a BTS for I think Episode 1 or 2 where he talked about some of the decisions he made.
First, the spaceships were all sleek and chrome despite that being very different to the originals because he wanted to play with this more utopian era where there's greater wealth, space is a safer place so opulence doesn't invite danger etc. Which I think is awesome from a storytelling perspective, there's beautiful things because the galaxy hasn't been at ware/under control bye space fascists for years but the wealth is very divisive to signify growing corruption.
Second, the duels. He specifically said his goal was to make them fast, dynamic, precise dances with verticality and near superhuman reflexes partly because the originals required hand drawn VFX which limited them but they were depicting largely old masters, relics of a dignified and noble art lost to the past and practiced by apparently 3 old men (2 within a few minutes), Yoda and beginner Luke.
In the prequels, we see the Jedi at the height of their power, their skill and their confidence. These are people in their physical prime, with the best resources, training and facilities to be perfect and it makes the fights so, so much more exciting.
the the cutscenes for Old Republic took that concept and used their video game license (ie CGI is fine and doesn't need to be perfect) to sharpen every reaction, make every strike and block faster, closer and more precise and really emphasise the skill.
Then Disney showed up, decided George Lucas is insane and ruined things and trotted out hollow imitations of the original films to try and swindle cash from hardcore nostalgia nuts, famously unhappy with anything done even by Return of The Jedi

“Comment or die.”
My gawd I love her!!~
2 things: I really appreciate the inclusion of games into this series and hope to see it in the vfx artist or game dev react (potential series?). Games really have come a long way in terms of well.. everything and it's really cool to see what's behind the scenes for them.
secondly: I really wish the choreography for light saber fights was more like that old republic trailer then what we have now with the current trilogy. The old republic trailers have such great fight scenes.
The thing about light saber choreography is part of the SW lore. The art of light saber is lost after the destruction of Jedi in Ep3, so when they filmed the prequels they intentionally went for highly choreographed saber fights to contrast with the more simplistic style in the original trilogy. Old republic and the new trilogy of course follow the same logic.
i was so happy when they played he old republic scene she was in, one of the best lightsaber battles i've ever seen
7:13 can we all just appreciate how awesome the old Republic cinematic trailers were
Aquaman. Chase scene in Italy and final battle (especially when he's spinning the trident)

Neat. :D
They should do the first person movie “ Hardcore Henry “ and the trailer for “ Guardians of Middle-Earth “
Hardcore Henry is a very underrated movie.
I mean, sure the story is very loose, but the fact they were able to do the whole movie in 1st person and it worked very well, did make it a good action film.
This is how the DOOM movie should have been filmed like (Hardcore Henry's first-person was much better).
I like it when movies try new things and push the way how movies are made, and having the entire movie seem like an FPS game is a step in the right direction.
Plus, the fact they filmed it in a budget of just 2 Million is also impressive.
I remember seeing videos of their behind the scenes and the fact they did as much practical as they could is also impressive.
This was one movie that I bought the Blu-Ray for and still worth it.
JediMastr80 I agree with everything you said the movie was a very pleasant surprise and had really good practical effects
Just wanted to comment about "Hardcore Henry" (again) when I found this. Agree. They totally should check out the movie.

At 9:30, Clint going through all of the phases of "I thought we had something special".
- Surprise that she doesn't remember something that is ingrained in his mind
- Reacting to "we did a thing (scene) together? what did we do?"
- Playing it cool, mentioning vague things that happened and he considers should jog her memory
- Realization that what meant a lot to him went way over and he was just "another guy"
- Her feeling so sorry that she's destroying his feelings
I find it hilarious how you could take this part out of context and with minimal editing insert it in a romantic comedy and would work.
Isn’t there a rule for the filming of the Star Wars movies where you can’t make the lightsaber sounds?
Lmao I bet that’s so hard to do
oh yeah because the actors constantly did the noises during the shoots so it screwed with the audio. honestly who can blame them though.
Ewan McGregor allegedly had to be muted during production of the prequels because he kept going “VOOM” and making other noises

Trivia facts from Millionaire express
1 While filming her fight scene with Sammo Kam-Bo Hung's character, Cynthia Rothrock kicked Hung's stunt double so hard in the side of his head that he bled from the ear.
2 Prior to filming, Cynthia Rothrock had torn a ligament in her knee and Richard Norton had developed a severe infection from cutting his leg on a plant. Both filmed their parts but can be seen respectively performing all their kicks with a single leg.
3 The fight between Sammo Kam-Bo Hung and Biao Yuen proved perilous to film. Hung kicked Yuen so hard in the chest that the latter was unable to draw breath, and required assistance from Kar Lok Chin to start breathing again. Chin - who doubled Yuen in key scenes - was injured when Hung flipped him over his head and he landed on the back of his neck.
I think it'd be really cool if you guys reacted to a fail compilation and talk about how hard different hits would actually have been

Brutal lol this woman is hilarious
This comment goes to answer Clint's question: Is Donnie Yen's character seeing the same fight in his head as Jet Li?
Yes, he is. Mostly. Actually, you are specifically seeing Donnie Yen's version of the fight.
The frame of reference is that they are fighting in a place to play Go (they say 'chess house' in the translation). In Go there are set moves that most players use; if someone attacks in a certain manner, there is a 'correct' response to minimize, deflect, or even counter the originating move. It's essentially what modern gaming now calls 'meta'. What you're seeing is them reading countless moves ahead to see what the outcome will be, and playing out the meta in their minds. There is at least one shot cut into the fight of just a Go board to draw a deeper parallel, and it's the reason the mental fight is in black and white. This is why the translation changing things to 'chess' is more or less apt.
But the detail that shows the version we are shown is actually Donnie Yen's perspective is right at the end. The last moment in the mental fight we see is Donnie Yen smashing down on Jet Li's sword, but then the musician snaps his strings, immediately ending the song, which breaks Donnie Yen's concentration. The implication is that Donnie Yen didn't see to the end of the mental fight, but also didn't read as quickly since Jet Li attacks at that moment. The meaning is Jet Li _did_ see the fight to it's conclusion where he wins, giving him the confidence to immediately attack, where Donnie Yen hesitates. This is also why Donnie Yen loses in one attack, since his hesitation broke the entire chain of events in the mental fight.
Nice. Great breakdown, thanks for posting it
you are the few people that understand that fight scene myself included. What you said was actually why that’s my all time favorite fight scene in a Kung fu film.I would like to know who thought of that idea fucking genius.

One especially towards the beginning as the gunner in the tank gets two with one shell. I don’t know about what type of expert you guys would get but I would love you guys to react to those shots!
