It can be done with 1 straight line! The rules didn't specify the thickness of the line. One straight stroke with a wide paint brush qualifies as one straight line.

well if parallel lines do meet at infinity then I can draw a straight line from the buttom of the first column to infinity then from infinity through the dots of the second column then towards the dot of the third column then downwords

Start from 6th dot then move left then up then again right then go down straight then move left
I'm not sure if this is legal, but I did a straight line upwards to connect the three dots on the right, made a diagonal line going down that didn't touch any dots, another line the went straight up through the middle dots, and one last line that touched all three of the right-side dots in a diagonal. Some lines were extended to make this work
if I've imagined it correctly then you used 5 lines. bcz after connecting dots you've already used 3 lines. There's no way you can cover remaining dots in 1 line
3 simple straight horizontal lines cover all dots, if lines should be 4,divide one horizontal line into 5 steps

Well, this is called thinking out of box, but there's one more thing called, increasing the horizon and we can join all dots with the same conditions by only 3 lines.
You can do that but the origin of the angle is going to need to be really long compared to the nine dots, hard to write on paper.

HavoK Gaming This sort of thinking outside the box is sort of like how an engineer thinks. I didn't see any other way of completing this puzzle so I thought what would happen if I extended my line outward. I don't think it is cheating, it is just people need to learn how to think creatively and not just be spoon fed everything.

Yes - in fact you can do the puzzle with 3 lines, 2 lines, and even only ONE LINE. 3 lines: the dots are large enough (and if the paper is big enough) just start from R to Left top left dot at the top of the dot - through middle of top centre dot and then through bottom of top right dot. Keep going right until the angle is good for zig-zagging back the other way through the centre dots; and finally the bottom row - Easy! But one line?? Ah yes! BUT you need a piece of paper large enough to encircle the globe! At a VERY fine angle - start in the top left as before _and go around the globe_ passing through the centre row, and finally the bottom row. ONE LINE! hoho.
Adam Mangler even better! You need no lines at all! Wondering why? Because if you zoom out enough, the optical ilusion will join all the dots for you into one big far away square!

The solution given here is not accetable, because the lines were drawn beyond the dots, so actually there were 11 dots to solve the puzzle.

No its not impossible. In fact Rainbowcast rager is probably one of the only independent thinkers in this comments section. Most people probably lied, or already new the answer.
You can do it using only three by drawing a REALLY long line through the bottom row, starting in the lowest left hand corner dot and ending way out one side. Then you draw from the tip of the line through the middle row, and it will go through all 3 because the angle is very shallow. Then you do the same with the top.

This is very incorrect because it says it has to start where the line ended but you also have to be on the dot but not only that it says that you have to have 4 strait lines but it never said that you can only have 4 lines in fact you can have more lines it just has to not be strait like an arrow < or >
