I thought this trick didn't work correctly at first for all combinations of favorite number choices. Then I realized that the LAST instruction that "you" have to give your "friend" varies depending on the number that "you" chose. You need to tell your friend to subtract an amount equal to 10 minus the number that you chose. So if your number is 1 (for example) you tell your friend to "Subtract 9" (because 10 - your number = 9). And if your # is 3 you must tell your friend to "Subtract 7" ... and so on. You can do this on the last instruction to your friend because you know what your number is even though your friend does not. If you do this the trick will work with any combination of numbers from 1 - 9 that you and your friend choose.
Funny just know that there will always be negative...Even when you get there point🇿🇦
I also have one ask your friend to choose a number between 1 to 5
Suppose they chose 4
Now ask them to multiply it by 9
4×9=36
Now ask them to add the one's place digit to the ten's place one
3+6=9
Answer will always be 9 no matter what number they choose
I.E.- 1×9=9, 9+0=9
2×9=18, 8+1=9
3×9=27, 2+7=9
4×9=36, 3+6=9
5×9=45, 4+5=9
Pick a number 1 to 10
Multiply by 9
Add both the digits of the number
Minus 4
The answer will always be 5

If friend takes number 'a' then after performing the above operations we get form:
(2a + 2) × 5
=10(a+1)
= 10(a) + 10
Now the friend's slip represent number at tens place value, so we need not worry.
Our slip represent unit place value, so we tell to subtract number 'b' at last such that sum of (no. written by us + b) =10
Eg. If I write 4, I will ask my friend to subtract 6 at last.
(10*your friend no+10)-(10-your no) = (10*X+ 10)- (10-Y)

Let your friend choose any number between 1 and 9 - let this be a. You choose some number between 1 and 9 - let's say it's b.
Tell your friend to multiply their number by 2 - now the number they have is 2a.
Tell them to add 2 - now they have 2a+2.
Now tell them to multiply by 5 - now your friend will have 10a + 10.
Now from this number, tell them to subtract (10-b).
Then they will end up with 10a + 10 - (10-b) = 10a+b. In place value system, this number is written as ab, so your friend's number is the first digit from the left and your number is the digit in unit's place.
So, if you simply tell them to follow the steps, they will end up with the right number.

You can choose any number you want between 1 and 9.
Multiply your number by 2.
Now add 2 to your answer.
Multiply this number by 5.
Now subtract 8 from your answer.
The answer right now is _2, where _ is the number you chose at the beginning. If you had chosen 7, the answer you would have right now is 72. If you had chosen 4, the answer you have is 42 and so on.
Hope this makes it clear. To relate this to my previous comment, a is whatever number you chose, the "b" I chose was 2.

LOGIC : First he converted the number into a number which is multiple of 10. After that applying last operation (10-your number ) and doing sum will result exactly the same number in the unit place as we have taken .

Its not a trick.I can explain.
First by multiplying and adding it by two means u r multiplying 2 with the nex number
.....if ur no. Is 4 (4×2 +2 ) = 10 which is 5*2
Next by multiplying by 5 means u r making the next number multiply by 10 (×2×5 = ×10)
Now already the number is 10 ahead of ur number×10
By subracting (10 - ur number ) u r just doing
10 - (10 - ur number ) which is equal to 10 - 10 + ur number
Therefore his number becomes the tens digit and ur number becomes the ones digit
