Take a side from 8 to make it a 6. Then use it as a minus and you get -1+6=5.
Oh, yes, that works. You could also take the bottom off the 5 and use it to make a 9, so 1+8=9.
@@jamienelson3470 Mostly the number 9 in matchstick puzzle should have a horizontal bar.
remove the center stick of 8 to make it a 0, then put it 'diagonally' on the middle of the equal sign: therefore 1+0 ≠ 5
Well that sounds like a good solution and modifying the equation altogether.
Or maybe a simpler answer could be, Instead, just take the bottom stick on 5 and add it to the top right side and create 9. 1+8=9... I don't know I may be wrong sha!!
Genious😊
03:11 Fine, except the version of this shown in the thumbnail doesn't work because the coin is too big and in the wrong place.
thanks a lot for this. i was thinking exactly same. clickbaity thumbnails.
Yup. Dishonest advertising.
Take bottom stick of 5 and connect it with the top stick of 5 vertically downwards so it touches other corner!!!😊
👍
Use the bottom stick on the 5 move it up to top right to make a 9 (1+8=9) 👍🏴🇬🇧
But the 9 isn't right then. Good idea - but the digits are old fashioned style calculator format, hence the ''tails'' on the 6's and 9's. The answer is -1 + 6 = 5. Although I didn't get puzzle 2 and 5
My sister also suggested this method, but I told her the 9 is wrong.
wrong the 9 must be done with 6 sticks @williambunter3311 just under your comment
@williambunter3311
has the good answer -1+6=5.
Even though technically the 9 isn't a 'calculator' 9 I'd still pay this answer, well done!
The still image for #5 that is the preview image of the video is frustratingly wrong - the coin is placed such that the solution doesn't quite work. I spent quite a while staring at it and convincing myself there was no solution, only to see that in the video the coin is in a different spot.
Yeah. Poor clickbait. I'll just block this channel right after this video.
The last one, take the middle of the 8 or the vertical from +, and add to the = to make the "not equal to" symbol.
An equation, by definition, must have = in it. ≠ does not count.
- 1 + 6 = 5
I also thought of that!
Something else shows a puzzle is not the same as the one that scribed in the video. In the video they widen the angle of the peak of the roof, to 90 degrees so that the coin is within the new square . On the image on the thumbnail you cannot widen the roof to include the coin because the coin is too large and in the wrong place. It's a clickbait thumbnail displaying a puzzle which cannot be solved as shown.
thumb down for that
Take the vertical match from the plus sign and lay it diagonally across the equal sign so that the equation reads one minus eight does not equal five.
😁👏👏👏
In a world of none-smokers, vapers, and lighters I haven't see matchstick puzzles in years.I like!
Take the bottom match stick of the 5 and box the top of the 5 with it to make the 5 a 9.
Well that's a cheat - The answer involves using a smaller coin than originally shown (Title puzzle)
I don't think it is possible to do with the title puzzle. Ten minutes of my life I will never get back.
On the last one, move the bottom stick to have it read 9 instead of 5. 1 + 8 = 5 (1 + 8 = 9), since the 9 does not need a rocker like the 5 does. Think of the letter p reverse it you have 9
Correct
You got what I thought. 😀
Me too, but it seems to easy.
For those a wee bit still confused you take only one match stuck of the number giving it half the height of the other numbers
but in these pattern of number formation number 9 always have that racker 🤷♂️
Take the bottom stick of the five and move it vertically to form a square at the top =9
Take the vertical match in "+" and place it over "=" to make the not equal sign "≠"
Move one stick to make the equation -1+6=5
you can change the 5 to a 9 by moving one match
dogreilly; Sorry, that doesn't work, bcause you will have a side missing! The 9 requires a horizontal foundation in these puzzles. I give the correct solution above i.e. -1+6=5
1. can be solved with moving only one match
move one of the outer horizontal matches and place them on the bottom of the figure to get two squares
2. can be solved with moving only two matches
move two of the outer horizontal matches and place them on the top and the bottom of the figure to get three squares
5. can be solved by forming a square round the coin, one match not used
There's no remark you should use all the matches or sticks
Or a triangle. Two matches not used.😊
Move the lat part 'under'5 to right side above..makes it nine
Make a box using the base already there. Use the three sticks joining it as the remaining sides. 3 pieces 3 movements.
You move 1 match from the 1 and place it at the top right of the 5 which makes 9 so it’s 1+8=9
I guess we have to assume for at least one of these that the depth can be greater than one match stick.
Fcking con.
I was trying to do it with the match still being attached at one end.
@chrisallen2005 nope. I've seen and solved all of these stick puzzles in my younger days. They all have one single matchstick per side. No layers. It never pays to assume things. A lot of errors made that way, in life.
Take the vertical segment from the + sign and place it over the = sign so it reads one minus 8 does not equal 5.
But that's an inequality rather than an equation.
Make 5 to 9 to make the equation correct. 1 + 8 = 9
Sorry but those who think changing the 5 to a 9, need to check there microwave or alarm clock or car clock.... or any other digital clock produced in last half century! Without bottom bar it's just a backwards "P"
#6 there is no constraint in same shape (at least for me :-) )
Remove 3 stick no near the coin, form a square around the coin
wow so amazing your content. best wishes to you
Take the bottom stick of the 5 and put it on top to complete the square and you have a 9.
I'm gonna do them at the local pub 😎 I wonder how many people will bet a beer on the right answer 🤔 top stuff mate 👍
@deanmacka4975, sounds like fun. The answer to the last one is 1+8=9. I got it straight from a kids puzzle book written by the puzzle creator himself.
1+8=9, move a section of 5.
Bingo
This is not possible, you need to put one stick on the 5 to make a 9, but if you keep all intact, where would you take this stick from? If the statement was to add a stick, not to move one, it would be possible.
@@ErmandIII u MOVE the base stick of the 5 to make it an 9, I solved this when I was in kiddergarden school
@@XmasTablet Ha-ha-ha. Good for you, because this not how 9 is spelled ;)
@@ErmandIII q
Sticks!
I found a way to put the coin inside the house without moving a single stick.
Great idea
I've got to pay more attention to the titles. On the very first one, I mistakenly thought I was supposed to move just 1 stick. Wasted quite a few minutes on that one!
Me too! Classic ADHD 😂
For no.4 ,two upper ones form Roman 5...a V and the old square....5 squares ?
😂 Creative solution!
#2 “Move 3 Stick to Get 3 Square”.
Move three sticks to create three squares.
Amazing number of mistakes in just 7 words.
1 : PAHELE MESE 2 STICK UTHAKE TIRCHHE 2 SQARE BANENGE .
11 - 6
2 move karke bhi ho jayega. Pick 2 and make a triangle around coin with 3rd side already closest stick untouched.
@3:20 #5 is dumb and it cheats. Can get the coin inside by only moving two sticks with zero overlap and retain the same original shape orientation.
Move the inner segment of the 8 diagonally over the equal sign: 1 + 0 /= (not equal to) 5. Technically, that equation is correct, it is an in-equation but a type of equation nonetheless.
@paulfromsky9527, nope. The answer is 1+8=9. I saw and solved this one as a pre-teen.
@@C.O.G. Actually both answers are correct. My boss gave me that puzzle (along with others) in my interview. I solved it in 2 seconds. He had never considered my answer before, he admired my "out of the box" thinking.
I came up with a solution similar to yours. Move one of the arms of the equals sign so that it becomes a greater than sign instead. (It’ll be slightly askew, but still able to be interpreted correctly). The wide end is facing toward the two numbers and the point is facing toward the 5. Therefore it reads 1 + 8 > 5, which is true.
@@DawnDavidson That's thinking outside the box!
This one has 3 answers
1:remove bottom of 5 and place it in top right to make 9:1+8=9
2:take top rightbof 8 (turning it into 6) and use it as a negative sign next to the one:-1+6=5
3:take the top right(6) or Center stick(0) of 8 and use it to turn the equal sign to not equal: 1+6≠5 / 1+0≠5
Make the five turn in nine
1+8=9
Move one stick to make the 5 a 9
Answer 1+8=9 the #5 bottom stick move to right side
Just move one match away from the box.
Slide the coin into the open box.
Move the match back in place to close the box.
Priblem solved.
Move the 5 bottom stick to the right side top of 5 top makes it a 9 1 + 8 + 9
Use one from 8 to be left with 6 or 9 and make ≠
The only correct answer for the final one is - 1+ 6 = 5, as 9 has to appear as on a calculator or a digital clock.
make the 5 a 9...
1-8 ≠ 5
Fabulous Thoughts

5 to 9 !
Move the stick at the bottom of 5 and put it up in the same number to make a 9 😊
In 3 puzzle you told that 7 box but you made only 6
Last answer
-1+6=5
Love this
Make 5 as 9
It will be -1+8=9
#1 can be done by moving one stick. #2 can be done by moving two sticks and the fifth one is impossible as stated, and the solution shown failed. The problem, as stated, was to get the sticks inside the coin. That is not possible. The solution provided got the coin inside the sticks, not the sticks inside the coin.
Take one stick at the bottom of 5 and place it on upper right of the figure to make it a total of 9.
That's what I've said. You only need one vertical line hanging from the bottom right corner of a square to make a 9, it doesn't have to have a bottom horizontal line too.
-1 + 6 = 5
Very goof
Good
9
That’s the last one ! It’s 1+8>5
1+8=9 take one of the one sticks and make the five a nine it's a trick answer.
answe is( -1+6=5)
1 - 8 != 5
OR
-1 + 6 = 5
1-8≠5
Make the 5 a 9
For No. 2, you could do it by moving just two sticks. Just move the bottom two sticks to the top and the right hand side to form three squares in an L shape (with a couple of extra sticks sticking out on the left hand side).
For No. 6, you probably intended for us to make it say -1 + 6 = 5, but you could also do it by moving the bottom stick of the 5 up to the top right of it to make it into a 9, so that it reads 1 + 8 = 9
One of the rules for the matchstick shape conversions is that the resultant shape must have no hanging matchsticks (no unattached matchsticks).
That's what I saw as well
@themachine5957, nope. These puzzles were created for school children. I had a puzzle book with this one in it when I was a kid. The right answer is 1+8=9.
Puzzle no. 3 where is the 7th square
Got it!
👌
#4 Move 2 stick to get 5 square was wrong. There came only 4 square.
Genius 👍
1+8=9 (5 Convert in 9)
9ans
The answer in 5 last stick taken keep before the answer will get
" Yes".
1. 33
👏👏👏👏
Move the bottom left match stick in 5 to make it into 9 🎉🎉
In place of 7. squar U made only 6 & in place of 5sq.Umade only 4 please correct
"Correct"
Aahh ok. I got it!!
The first one is very deceptively worded. Should say to get 2 squareS, not to get 2 square implying one big square.
I didn't know a stick was allowed to jump over the coin.
Move a stick ≠ slide a stick, 3 dimentional movement is allowed, and was used for some of the other ones(the 7 squares for example)
The question says how to get inside the coin instead of house lol
Don't need 2 matches do draw the number 1. A "1" is still a "1" whether it's formed by 2 matches or 1 match. The other answers in the comments are great, too. For example, -1+6 = 5
That may work. But there's still a correct equation without the use of negative numbers if you just take the base of the 5 and place it vertically into the right sided space of the 5, since the number 9 doesn't need a bottom horizontal base to still be a 9. Alll a 9 needs is one vertical line hanging from the bottom right corner of a square.

#6: Move the bottom of the 5 to the open side on the right to close it off, making it 9.
Make the 8 into a 6 and make the 1 a -1, so it will be -1+6=5
7-6=5

To get the coin inside? Very easy.
Slap the matches off the table and say "I'm not playing anymore."
Also, you can remove bottom stick of 5 & place it on right open side of 5. this will make it 9.

simple
I don't have any alternative solutions but this is a comment
2:27 is wrong answer and wrong question, why? because
Move 2 sticks make 5 squares but your answer is make 4 squares (if it's correct the before question like same make 2 sticks make 7 squares then it is make 8)
