In our country we have small portable self-scanners. So you scan it before you put it in the shoppingcart. Then at the Booth, you have to scan a QR code and pay with your card. Way easier.

As other people said, I don’t want the awkward conversation and I only have a handful of items and it think it’s pointless to go in a person checkout line when the self checkout is for less items

No more self checkout for me.

If you wait while doing nothing, time moves slow. But If you do something you don't feel bored, time feels faster than when you wait and do nothing.

When supermarkets put in these they cut open lanes. This leads to loads of trolley queues at proper checkouts, making the self-service one far quicker.

I was the fastest cashier at my retail store. My self checkouts fine id say. At least in my area they dont enjoy their jobs and go slow because of it

  • @doom8676

if someone is not used to it, they may be slower
but personally after working in retail it really takes me the same time on even less to scan the product than it takes the cashiers (some of them are so slow ugh), plus saving time on making the conversation and answering questions because i do everything myself
ahh and usually the queue to self checkout is shorter 😬

Its quicker to check out with a person if you have more/bulky items. But if you have a small items that cant fit into 2 bags, personal checkout it quicker (if you arent slow at scanning). Also lines go buy quicker in self checkout areas though because there’s typically more self check out units per a single line vs the 1 stall, 1 line set up in a human check out
