What I don't understand is why did Judas HAVE to betray Jesus? If it had been the Roman military that had made the arrest at the Garden of Gethsemane, well then I would understand because they wouldn't have known him. However it was actually Temple security, for example, it was the High Priest's servant who carried out the act, and they must have known him from all the visits he made to the Temple?
Even if Judas had an axe to grind with Jesus, for the life of me I can't figure out why the Sanhedrin paid him to point out a man they already knew?

It was all pre-planned and nothing left to chance. They had to make sure that Jesus made it onto the cross. It was actually Christ who was betrayed - not God.
1 Corinthians 3: We proclaim the mysterious plan conceived by God in His wisdom, a plan which has hitherto been concealed, but which God established before time began in order to lead us back to glory. When I consider the omniscient, and omnipresent, aspects of God, that is to say, knowing all, and, being able to exist in past, present, and future simultaneously, not being constricted by time, or ignorance, God must have foreseen the falling of Lucifer before He created him. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Was Jesus in hiding? The answer is a definite no. So why would it take Judas to lead them to where Jesus was? They all knew where to find him. They would visit him during sermons, ask questions, eat with the rest of the multitudes etc. Some, like Cornelious, even visited him by night! So why would they waste their money on Judas. This betrayal story does not add up.

There is some force in your question. It was night time, after the Passover meal. At that hour, there were very few in the Garden if any, and only 12 in Jesus' group (judas was in the arresting party.) The fact that they tried to arrest "the man in the white sheet" (possibly John Mark) suggests that they wanted to arrest the whole party. The priests would not have identified Jesus with the same certainty as a disciple. They must have had a reason to pay Judas an amount sufficient to buy the potter's field afterwards.

And when he herd Jesus's plans for death, he left thinking he had just wasted his time following a wackjob. This is a terrible generalization used to interpret the actions of Judas by comparing the historical context with your personal or biased opinions in the current generation. This also says a lot about your own heart and how you probably perceive all police today and those who confide in them. People don't go to hell today for seeking justice and running to the police. @@genghisghost so if he’s not the son of God what is your interest or even the relevance of Judas’s betrayal. If he’s not the sun of Gods then the betrayal means nothing and would be a lie just like the son God claim.
      So why are you here?

Wouldn't it be funny if the Bible didn't really have names of the disciples

7/ wouldn't it be funny if
    Son of God= YHWH(Jesus)
    Son of man= Judas

So it would be better if no man was ever born then there would be no chance of going to Hell.
Once born God knows your life thru to your death, regardless of your free will decisions or circumstances beyond your control. So He has already picked who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell. Life is just a charade, a game, an act. God knows the outcome, the end result.
You can pray all you want for a good outcome but the ending is already determined. Prayer is just self reflection and wishful thinking.
God doesn’t answer prayers. What’s going to happen is already determined. Jesus said to pray to be delivered from evil because God is delivering us into evil. It is His plan or else the Book of Revelation is false prophesy and the Bible a lie. No amount of pray is going to change anything. God gets to kill everyone and destroy everything, again, like the Flood, like He has for all of history, killing everyone and everything. Suffer and die. What a plan.

Both never existed! So was only a matter to make the tale a more dramatical scene😂
