Many of us know the story of Jesus's betrayal, but have you ever wondered WHY Judas betrayed Jesus? The Bible doesn't give us a clear look into Judas's heart, but that doesn't stop the panel from exploring this Hard Question.

And then there was grace. Jesus became the least of us to show us the way he chose the ones no one else would. By giving us a choice showing us love even when we don't love ourselves ... but sin can seem so sweet until it sours the cost of life is the sacrifice Jesus made for us but we sell ourselves short. In the end he still died for us even knowing how weak we are now that's Love.

      A little bit weird explanation.
Judas' betrayal wasn't because it was written in the scriptures.
      But
It was written in the scriptures because Judas would betray Jesus.
The way you said it sounds like Judas being a puppet on strings being controlled to betray so the scriptures are fulfilled.

@@davidardelean2832 Jesus’s betrayal was prophesied in scripture in Zechariah 11:12-13. Judas fulfilled those scriptures. Judas didn’t betray Jesus so they could write about it, he betrayed Jesus because scriptures had already said it would happen. That doesn’t mean he was a puppet on a string , Judas had free will just like we do, but his choices lead to the fulfilment of scripture.

It's a prophecy, a vision in the future, not a predestination. That's what I meant.
No, Judas didn't betray Jesus because it was written, that's logically not the cause of his betrayal. He had his own reasons.
If you say 'betrayal because it was written' you automatically put Judas in strings. That's not what the Bible meant to say.

@@tinsmith5633 ... Read the verses you quoted. You find nothing here referencing someone paid to betray the Messiah... but, instead, Jeremiah, himself, representing the Lord, and asking to be paid by Israel what are his wages. The Judas narrative has nothing whatever to do with this... further evidencing that the Gospel Writers disingenuously twisted its meaning to try and link their Judas story with non-sequitur OT prophecy.

The bible mentions the fact that Judas threw the thirty pieces back and then went and "hanged himself"...and then does the "meanwhile..." trick in MATTHEW. Nothing reads as events in the remote past. In addition, the jumping back and forth within the verses do not help much.

I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. He was chosen just as Pharaoh was raised up and chosen so God could get the glory. We are all predestined to do something. The question was, why did Judas betray Jesus? not who was Judas.

Your answer it may sound calvinistic, or like many others would say; God is unfair" but truth be told, God is never unfair, or unjust. God, the creator of the Universe and our creator will always be right and we humans, will always be guilty and deservers of death. God had a plan, and nothing and nobody will be able to interfere or deter His intentions. Whether Judas was chosen by God to accomplish this task is only on God's wisdom and Holy will.

" Judas betrayed Jesus because He didnt truly believe that Jesus was the Messiah"
Yes, that's more than likely. He certainly wouldn't have done it if he thought that Jesus was the messiah.
"When unbelievers dont believe in our God the betray us ...."
Maybe in some cases - but that obviously wasn't the case with Judas. The concept of the messiah comes from the holy scriptures. God is going to send a savior to restore the kingdom of Israel that God gave to the Israelites. You have to believe in God to believe that a messiah is going to come. Judas obviously believed this.

@TheSmithDorian He would not have killed himself and regret it if he knew he was not god... It's pretty much common sense. He was a traitor and knew Jesus was god, and even witness Jesus's miracles and all. He already knew all that way before. Also, god did not necessarily mean to make it happen that way. He still would had been eventually arrested even if JUDA was never involved.

    • @TheSmithDorian
      @TheSmithDorian Před 6 lety +1

"He would not have killed himself and regret it if he knew he was not god"
I think you're mixing up God and the messiah. In Hebrew scripture the messiah wasn't supposed to be God - he was supposed to be a human king /ruler of Israel who was blessed by God. Judas (like everyone else) was expecting a warrior / king type figure to come and kick the Romans out and restore the Kingdom of Israel. He wasn't expecting the messiah to be God.
In fact Jesus never told his disciples that he was God and none of them believed that he was. They didn't believe that he had risen on the third day until they saw him with their own eyes.
As for Jesus' miracles - you didn't need to be God to do miracles. Many earlier prophets had done them ... empowered by God.

Thirty pieces of silver was the price for which Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, according to an account in the Gospel of Matthew 26:15 in the New Testament. Before the Last Supper, Judas is said to have gone to the chief priests and agreed to hand over Jesus in exchange for 30 silver coins, and to have attempted to return the money afterwards, filled with remorse. The answer is pretty simple but many people don't like it... God has always had a plan and He knew who He would use for each part of that plan. Judas was created for the purpose he served.. I mean God didn't create Judas and then be shocked that Judas did what he did.. it was all planned by God to fulfill scripture.. Just like pharaoh.. the Bible says that pharaoh fulfilled the purpose he was created for... If you read the scripture Pharaoh didn't harden his own heart, God hardened it so that Pharaoh would not obey. Before Moses went before pharaoh even once God explained to Moses what to do and told Moses that He (God) would harden Pharaoh's heart so that he would not obey. Like I said, it's all very simple we just don't like it.

    Which is true?
Judas threw the money into the temple, went away and hanged himself (Matthew 27:5) or
Judas bought the field with the money, fell, burst open there and his bowels gushed out (Acts 1:18) ?
    They can't both be true.

    • @conetate
      @conetate Před 7 lety +2

It makes sense if you consider the hanging being the MEANS of death, and then the disembowelment being the RESULT of such death. (Not trying to be too graphic here, but if the rope, say, snapped at the moment he hung himself, or happened to snap after he had been hanging there for a while, then his bowels would have burst open upon making impact with the ground far below.)
And then comes the part about the money. If you consider the fact that the religious leaders bought the field with the money that Judas threw at them (as is stated in Matt 27:6-8), technically it was still HIS money that he had earned for betraying Jesus. So when they bought the field, it is the same as he himself buying the field, since it was with his money. Hope that helps!

Judas was the treasurer. He was in charge and the keeping of the money, YET betrays Jesus for money, YET after betraying Him commits suicide! My belief is that Judas had been dipping into the treasury had needed to replace the money, hence he sold Jesus out. But why betray Jesus and then kill himself? - my belief is that Judas never thought they would be able to capture or kill him. Many times Judas had seen Jesus escape capture, many times Judas had witnessed miracles. I think the cross came at a complete surprise to him.
Thus, Judas' plan was to replace money he had stolen and nobody would be the wiser.

IMO, judas didn't betray jesus. Jesus knew he had to suffer for our sins for our salvation, he was still human and of course who WANTS to vo through that. So at the last supper jesus asked his disciples to turn him in to the romans and judas was the only one to obey his last command since jesus didn't want to turn himself in. If YOU were at the last supper would you turn jesus in to the romans knowing it had to be that way for our salvation??? Could you do it??? Guilt drove judas to suicide knowing it had to be done.

The reason Judas betrayed Jesus was that, Judas was an informant. That's what an Infiltrator is, a secret informant. Someone who sell information to an enemy.

The name Judas in Hebrew means: praise. The praised one.
I don't think that can be ignored. Sounds like there's a plan going on here.

If Christ was not betrayed, we could not have been accepted. If Christ had not became the price of a slave, 30 pieces of silver we could not be free. This was all part of salvation package. However I believed that Judas did it because he wanted Christ to be a political messiah and also because he thought that no harm would come to Christ. He saw the lame walked, the blind see, even the dead raised, not to mention Jesus calm the storm and walked on waters. Hmmm, what can these people do to him, perhaps let's put him in place and we will see is reaction

Here's my thoughts I think God create Judas just like what God create Adam and eve and God had no choice but to let Jesus to be on the cross and let Judas betray Jesus and sadly let Satan in him just like Adam and just ends in tragedy just like Adam did with God!!

      But in Mark 14:44
#44 Now his betrayer had given them an agreed sign, saying: “Whoever it is I kiss, this is he; take him into custody and lead him away safely.”
MARK being the first gospel written and the only one to say something like that...Whoever I kiss..lead him away safely....
I can't quit figure this out?

It was God's plan, judas played part in fulfilling bible prophecy. Psalm chapter 41:9, Mine own familiar friend on whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, Hath Lifted Up His Heel Against Me. Judas dipped bread at same time as Jesus into broth, Sop. Jesus told judas do quickly what your going to do, last passover. Bible prophecy!!! .

It surprises me that so far no one has apparently bothered to simply ask the most basic of questions: Why would the Sanhedrin pay Judas such a princely sum... to point out someone they already KNEW well? Yes... you heard me right. In all THREE Synoptic Gospels, Jesus, Himself, points out to the arrest party that they had all SEEN Him teaching daily in the Temple... and had been WITH HIM as He taught (?!):
"Jesus said to them, 'Have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me like you would an outlaw? DAY AFTER DAY I WAS WITH YOU, teaching in the temple courts, yet you did not arrest me.'"
    (Mark 14:48-49, Matt 26:55, Luke 22:53)
Thus... They KNEW Him, already! Jesus RECOGNIZED them all... and knew THEY recognized Him. So....... what did it matter whether Judas was there or not to "kiss" Him and point Him out? And why would they pay Judas anything to do so? The simple Truth here is this: There was no "Judas Kiss"... there was no Judas "betrayal"... and there probably was no Judas, period. Instead... the Judas story was later concocted to HIDE the truth regarding those who really DID betray Jesus by testifying against Him at His trial before the Sanhedrin... to save their own skins.
Wanna take a guess who those real betrayers were? Here's a hint: Peter wasn't seated with the guards outside Jesus's trial, unable to leave as people kept recognizing him, 'cuz they were all such great buddies.
Think about it... take all the time you need. ;)

A quartet of empty heads wasting time talking utter nonsense. Judas role in God's plan for the salvation of man was predetermined. Instead of blaming him, I think Judas should be made into a saint for playing a central role in this plan. If you strongly feel that you want to spew some bile at somebody then direct it to God. He is the mastermind of this plan

Judas was simply doing what Jesus asked. He was the smartest Apostle and was chosen to be their treasurer because he was the most trusted and thrifty. I think Jesus took Judas aside and discussed what needed to be done. Judas did what Jesus asked but later regretted following Jesus' orders. The apostles just didn't understand Jesus' mission so Judas was elected to help Jesus release his spirit from His Earthly body. That's my take on it. Judas loved Jesus enough to do what he asked because he understood. If he was so bad, why didn't the other 11 stop him? I think they knew that Judas really loved Jesus and just didn't understand what the two of them were planning. They were just dumb fishermen.

I never understood what the actual betrayal was. Giving a guy a kiss, who supposedly everybody knew? They all shouted for his execution the next day, but nobody around to identify him for the arrest? Strange story. But of course every good fiction story needs a bad guy and nothing better than a friend betraying the main character.
Astounding rubbish, according a well-known yt channel.
