  • Spain are, in my opinion, one of the most interesting teams in this 2022 World Cup. But could they really go all the way?
    With such a unique system and coaching philosophy, they’re well worth a deep tactical analysis… and that’s exactly what you’ll find in this video! We’ll look at their tactics in and out of possession, and discuss what problems they might face in Qatar.
    I hope you enjoy, and subscribe for more of this as the World Cup goes on :)

    Harry Kane, in this Lucho setup, would be Balon D'or level. This video explains why if Harry Kane is to leave Spurs, he should not go to any team in the PL. He was perfect for City and probably, City as a team would have been better with Kane as CF than Haaland. But now City have Haaland, so there's only 1 team in the world that would maximize his ability and truly make him a top 3 player in the world- Football Club Barcelona. He has world class tactical smartness, technical ability, strength and on top of that, he is a top 3 - top 5 finisher in the world who consistently beats his Xg by a huge margin. His contract is up in '24. He would be 30 years old with another 4-5 years at the highest level. He does not command Lewy level wages (reportedly on 200k a week at Spurs). If spurs cannot renew him, I really hope Barca get him.

It's only the Spanish that actually try and play based on a blueprint and rational calculation.

      I disagree, Brazilian coach (tite) is a coach that led a brazilian club (Corinthians) to win in a very tatical manner against Chelsea in the international club final, Where Chelsea had more quality in all areas of the field, he did a very solid defensive strategy and managed to pull out a victory. He's the most technical and tatical coach in Brazil and have been doing some amazing work since he joined, with many different strategies in the SA qualifiers, ultimately it resulted in a unbeaten streak for Brazil, with some draws because of his "defensive" approach, i think that if he was a little bit more brave Brazil could've had a perfect run with 100% win streak. I think his only weakness is to be way too slow to recognize a problem during the games but so far in this wc he's being doing fine with the in game player changes

      It's been so long since No9 are overrated in modern football. it's not coincidence that the best 2 scorers of the last 15 years are two wingers that play opposite leg in the pitch. Just think about that.
      Yes, there will always be a great number nine around, like Luis Suárez, or Haaland, but still players like Mbappe are the showrunners in today's game.
      And btw, Benzema is not a classical 9. He's more like Asensio, a false 9 with goalscoring technique that is associative and can both shoot and pass. His only real No9 attribute is that he's quite the opportunistic striker, his positioning is masterclass. But he doesn't play holdup football and he doesn't do diagonal runs to look 1v1 vs the keeprs. He likes to trinagulate and make short strings of passes to occupy space, like a false nine or number 10.

It's an easy mistake to make, but just to clear up, Spain's coach's surname is not Enrique, it is Martínez García: Luís Enrique is a compound forename, something very common in Spain, a bit like Billy Ray or Mary Lou. Maybe to win Spain need something special from Morata or somebody. Or else they could just squeeze through with a lot of low scoring games.

    This was an excellent video Purist Football. I feel this World Cup will be great experience for Pedri, Gavi, Ansu, Balde and Ferran and they will more experience and maturity to become a favourite for 2026.
    But currently unfortunately yes they lack unpredictability in Final 1/3rd, content with shifting side to side and retaining possession without the final decisive pass or dynamic dribbling to break down a defence. At times CF Morata and wingers with Ferran and Sarabia will still score goals but can see in tight games they struggle to take advantage of opportunities. I hope Dani Olmo and Ansu can help in that area however Ansu will need to be more clinical with his chances.
    I'm hopeful that they make quarters/semis. They'll probably come 2nd in group behind Germany but show a lot of promise. Let's see how the first game against Japan goes

    Ur absolutely spot on. Spain can sometimes be too predictable and teams can sometimes block off their passing lanes.. so they need players who are very lethal in the final third area and can also take on opponents and dribble pass 2 or 3 players for the team to be extremely successful... as pep guardiolo use to say, the coach job is to get them till the final third, and the players job is to finish them.

  • @ravipv3236

    Superb analysis brother! But I'd not go as far to say that Spain is brilliant. What we have is a very unique team and a unique coach- strictly following a philosophy and systemic approach to everything. As you said the team would become more predictable as the tournament goes further. I always get disappointed in Spain's performance in the final third. What spain needs is a #9 like Fernando Torres who can do the unexpected. But it's no way we're going to get. I expect Ferran to be more clinical this WC. I also think corner kicks are not going to be useful. Let's see how this turns around.

    It is evident Spain lacks some TNT upfront. However, I do not agree this is the biggest weakness. Spain's offensive potential comes from associativity, speedness with the ball and unpredictablity with the 2nd last and the last pass. I think the team has 2 problems that are more significant. First of all, its incapacity to have a Plan B in case the other team's press is too tight and effective, and its defensive softness when facing strong teams.

    The X factor isn't there but their link-up can overrirde the need for it... they put players in scoring positions very often. The main problem is they don't have a killer in front of goal. Morata and Ferrán are serial missers, and Dani Olmo, while more unpredictable, isn't a 30 goals-a-season guy either. If this team had a David Villa then they'd be favorites to win it.

    The system and skeleton of Spain are very similar to Barca's, but the different front three would produce a very different end-result.
    What made Barca huge success in the past was the top quality of their front three, like MSN; Ronaldinho alongside Henry and Eto'o; Messi alongside David Villa and Pedro, with midfielders like Iniesta, Xavi and Deco who were able to assist and score, but clearly Spain has no such skillful players now.

    • @oscaar_3985
      @oscaar_3985 Před rokem +1

      I disagree in part, Spain 2008-2012 had the same skeleton as Barça as well but the front 3 only preserved Villa. Yes, Torres was also a magnificent player and Pedro played quite a lot, but they certainly don’t compare with Ronaldinho, Eto’o, Henry, and of course Messi. Yet Spain was able to dominate

    • @hhtao81

  • @rujeri
    @rujeri Před rokem

    Though Spain tended to be predictable and "safe in possession" along tiki-taka times - this Spain of Luis Enrique follows some patterns but introduces changes to that style (as he did to Barca after Guardiola & Tata Martino). Still for controlling the ball, Luis Enrique's system pursues attacking more the spaces; more quick transitions; more 1v1s; and, moving more people to the front (at risk of "territorial dominance"). Overall, they're more vertical. Eurocup was a good example of it.
