My brother ADORED Madonna....I lost him this past March. He was 47 yrs old. Her music seems to always find me now, as I'm driving home from work 🤔...and yes...I turn it up full max and jam. It's like he's sitting in the passenger seat next to me. Love and miss you "Boog" 😘

Not only did she had the balls to say she wants to rule the world, she CONQUERED it. Plain and simple, to have a career as a female dance artist for more than 30 years is testament to the "Power of Madonna."

@@AlexanderNovak0 WRONG, not poor but not exceptionally strong vocal range, however her tone is super rich capable of emoting emotions, Dylan wasn't also a huge belter yet he's also one of the greatest. marketing is something other acts tried too and FAILED. Madonna is talented all across: she writes, dances, is THE best visual pop act of all time, provocative, rebellious and was born to be a celebrity and a leader...here in the raw you can see she just oozes charisma and a level of celebrity others can't get even with coaching. get it right next time.

Working your ass off, bugging the right people until they will listen, etc. It goes all the way back to Louis Armstrong on the streets of New Orleans, cajoling and making people listen until the right one heard him.

She is part of the deep state. When she said she wanted to rule the world, she wasn't kidding, but her reign is up.

I was 17 when I first heard her and instantly became a fan. I even dressed like her in college and had her posters in my dorm room. I always say I’m lucky that I was a teen when Madonna first cake on and proud to say I was there when we witnessed her just starting out! Lots of people criticized her back then and said she was just a pretty face. I remember watching this when it aired in 1984 and loved it! I felt like I was one of the few who believed her when she said she wanted to rule the world. And here we are 37 years later! That’s why when I’ve heard some younger people today say awful things about her I’m like, yall need to take several seats and shut up because I was there when Madonna started out and I KNOW how successful and huge pop culture phenomenon she has been for 3 1/2 decades! Not too many artists can say that. Madonna is one of the few from our time listening to music artists in the 70s and 80s that has had that longevity...and she has been a very savvy business woman. That’s why she’s had this staying power for almost 40 years!

She is a really a great singer and dancer. I used to think she was not that good. She is really into music and dance. she was so popular in the 1980's.

It was this moment, right here on bandstand, that I fell in love with Madonna.

Wow...and Dick Clark's last question was terrific. I am sure he asked other musical guests the same question, but not ever to such a person that would have a bombshell impact.

I'm not a Madonna fan, but this clip was endearing. I give her so much credit for the self confidence she exuded back then. She was a lucky lucky lady to stick with what she wanted to do.

I can’t get over the contrast between Madonna’s look that came from living the hard life in New York for a few years and making due with what she could scrape by and those suburban kids wearing khakis, sweater vests, and conservative dresses. But then they were so into everything Madonna was offering here. No wonder Madonna mania took over and young women started dressing like her.

one of my coworkers has a collection of original vinyls next to his desk, and i was just looking through
them and pulled madonna’s (this album) and his rule was “if you pull it, it’s yours.” it’s so crazy being able to see an ounce of an effect that it had so many decades ago.
