    I found one on the street the head doesn't rotate. The suction is poor and the suction from the wand is weak. I bought one on eBay too for £18 they changed the motor but never got it going. I'll see if I can follow your video to make myself a working one👍🙂

  • @alanclews4707
    @alanclews4707 Před 3 lety +1

    I’ve followed your strip and rebuild tutorials to change a burnt out motor and brush roller on my dc33 but since I changed the motor it doesn’t have the suction it used to have, it used to be quite difficult to push it along our carpet with the suction but now it pretty much glides over the carpet. Any suggestions to what I’ve done wrong?? When I turned it on before the motor burnt it literally planted itself in the pile of the carpet. Btw the videos are very thorough 👍

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  Před 3 lety +2

      Assuming the suction through the wand is good, give the spring hose that runs to the brushroll housing a slight twist to one side. That pipe forms the spring action that pushes the brushroll housing down into the carpet. If it's too far gone their cheap on ebay. If you've not got good suction through the wand either did the motor seal on properly?

    • @alanclews4707
      @alanclews4707 Před 3 lety

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  Před 3 lety

      Somewhere there will be, but the end caps slide onto the shaft in the middle after the bearings are on each end. Then just push both ends together until they push in no more, then rotate so they both align the same way. Then it'll slot into the housing, clutch/non clutch dependant

    I've stripped the slimmer ydk out of a 33, can you help with putting it back together.. I've got new bearings for it, but need to know exact placement.. and all its little spacer washers etc...
    Oops
    Did it after a couple of tins.

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  Před 4 lety

      Usually it's the little spacer bit first, then a washer, then the fan, then a washer, then the nut. Inside the motor there may or may not be a little spring washer to go behind the rear bearing, but ive not taken a ydk apart for years, not since doing my video on stripping them down... Maybe have a look for that! Type in ydk beko and it should come up.

    • @ColinBoath
      @ColinBoath Před 4 lety

      Thanks for that.
      How about bearing spacing. They were very tight to get off, but didn't leave marks on the shaft, so need them to be back on the right position.

  • @ColleenHilliard

    I started the process before I found this video and I managed to assemble almost everything back where it goes, but I have a spring left over that I cannot figure out where it goes and I don't think it was covered in this video. I also can't find it on dc33 diagrams online. Could anyone help me identify where it goes?

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  Před 2 lety

      Does your cyclone empty with the red lever? There's 2 that go in there. Bar that there's not many other springs. One in the clutch, one behibd the wand release latch, a small black one that goes under the recline latch... Hard to tell without seeing it, feel free to email me a pic and I'll tell you. Overall an extremely helpful video considering that my dyson is currently in the dishwasher on a cold wash.
    However, the repair technician side of me cringed so many times at how you just pulled apart so many one way clips with barely any attempt to pry them up first, in particular for the rubbish release and the handle (which were the exact reason why I watched your video) they've both got one way clips that can easily be pried up with a flat screwdriver.
    But nonetheless, I applaud your specificity in how completely you took it apart, thank you.

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  Před 3 lety

      After (I'd guess) 30/40 DC33's you get a feel of how the plastic bends and flexes. Never broken a part yet! You can't do it so much on the newer ones though, the tolerance becomes much less the newer you get

      @@beko1987 ha ha, yeah that makes a certain amount of sense for sure, you grow relaxed with the familiarity.
      Where as I'm always a little bit timid, especially my first time into any given machine.
      However my familiarity lies with power tools and lawn mowers, where the cable management tends to be easier to keep up with and the plastic bits are older and more brittle.

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  Před 2 lety +1

      With the cleaner reclined, get the screwdriver in as close to top and bottom as you can, that's where the latches are. Perhaps a tad more leverage but too much and you'll crack the clutch housing (but that isn't always an issue)
