    5 or 6 years later but I love the simple, but elegant (to me, anyways), design. You did an excellent job. I'm going to build one on a 6' x 12' trailer, for camping. Thanks for an inspiring video. C & C

    I have built many trailers at home in my back yard over the years, and they have lasted for years. Later I either gave them away, or sold them. My last trailer build was a "Tear-Drop" camping trailer which my wife and I are still using. Therefore, I Love the "Gypsy Wagon" style design, and have thought of building one myself, as it is something from out of history itself, but this one being built upon a smaller scale. - Even though the weight is only around a 1,000 lbs. I can see where even more weight, and cost, could have been cut (saved), by using alternate materials in certain areas. - - As is well known in manufacturing processes by manufacturer's world-wide. The overall strength is not in each board, material, or component in itself, but lies in the overall whole structure when (after), it is completely assembled. - - Therefore, smaller and yet lighter materials can be used in the building process, but yet still obtain the complete overall structural integrity and strength necessary and needed for years of continued use and durability, but yet save many dollars of costs in the end when building.

    Rented one of these in Ireland drawn by a horse. It had a double bed across the back and had 2 beds that folded down from the sides. It was a cool experience, except the horse had a mind of his own!

    Love your project ! I am currently building a caboose style Tinyhouse ..just getting the trailer ready but want to use the vardo style roof and a cupola. Good craftsmanship as I see it on yours. Details on methods for vardo roofs are scarce. You have utilized the thoughts I had and it was good to see it live. My caboose will be 17 feet long and require a inner wall which will support the longer rafters or about 1/2 way maybe.

    Hi this is a very helpful video Great work. It looks like your overhang is about 300mm (1ft) . in Australia we are only allowed to go over the trailer by 150mm. What type of timber did you use for the hooped over roof battens? Did you need to steam the timber?

    • @6bettyboo9
      @6bettyboo9  Před 7 lety

      Robyna Smith-keys no I used clear pine strips they bent very easy . Here in the stats's your allowed to be 8.5 feet wide . I'm glad you like it ! Sold this one just recently.

    • @eaglehill6
      @eaglehill6 Před 8 lety +1

      6bettyboo9 Yea after I watched a bit more I saw the tarp tie down holes. Not sure how that would stand up to traveling.

    • @beautyschoolbooks
      @beautyschoolbooks Před 7 lety +2

      Put cotton sheets soaked in UV rated PVC glue over the tarp/roof when smoothed out repaint with PVC glue. It sets rock hard and is wealtherproof You can also cover the roof with paper dipped in PVC.
