- My homemade vardo and my homemade campsite make me so happy! I got to live in her all summer while I worked on improving my land and harvested trees for my future log cabin. What a joy to return to my vardo every night and settle into the rhythm of life in the woods.
Thanks for joining me!

1) Maysie daisy DA WOOF is JUST FINE! She's too old for adventures and traveling anymore so she lives a quiet life. She'll pop in videos once in a while but no more hard core adventures for her- to hard on her.
2) I think it was a wasp that stung me. The effects lasted over a week and now I'm fine. I didn't have benedryl or calomine lotion in my first aid kit (such a fail), so I handled it the best I could.
Thank you for watching!
Glad your Ok. I love being in the woods! Favorite place to be! But if I'm stung I might die....but I don't care I go there anyway! Love my mountains!
That was Alaskan Nachos, you needed a touch of cheese.
If it iches, you are dealing with an alergy. BAKING SODA AND ICE IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU GET STUNG, that helps to pull the poison out.
Yes, you need to keep benadryl on hand from now on, since you had one allergic reaction, your body will do it again.
glad to hear you ended up OK. It looked like an allergic reaction going into cellulitis. I'd have been trying to find an urgent care or general practitioner who could see you in their office.
Give DA WOOF hugs for me❤
It was super interesting about a fire spreading underground via the roots! I never thought about it, but it is really useful information, and it's great that you shared that! 😀
Glad it was helpful!
Yes I agree thank you 😊 ❤
Muck fires ( organic soil) burns ungrounded too. It will burn down and out.
That's so scary 😨
@@stardustgirl2904 I agree
Thanks to you this 74 year old woman and 81 year old man had a dream to build your gypsy wagon. It became a passion and obsession that took 1 month to complete working non stop. We are thrilled with the completed project. Thank you for the inspiration and very detailed instructions.
That's awesome, I hope you enjoy it !
You and your husband are so inspiring! Stay blessed young uns!!
As an ex smoke jumper hotshot I want to say thank you for your diligence and passing on info about proper fire pit construction and the downfalls of poorly made fire pits and the bad situations that can arise from it so thank you very much and love the scenery and puppy dawg
A record player in your vardo?!? Perfect way to unwind in the afternoon. I love it!
And Don Williams..one of my old time favorites.
I want one😫I remember jumping around, dancing with all my siblings to Elvis on a record player, that thing could crank😅
Kind of interesting the choice of a vinyl record player in a Vardo , the player and the records take up considerable room and Vinyl can only hold so many songs compared to CDs and a surprisingly small AM FM CD player , , ,🤔🤔🤔
Brooke, next time you go in a store get some Adolph's Meat Tenderizer for stings. Venom from insects and plants are protein and Meat Tenderizer dissolves the protein in minutes. A wasp sting will stop stinging in minutes and disappear. Keep it in your first aid kit. Put some in your palm, add a few drops of water, and apply to the string. Works for bull nettle, and even helps mesquite thorn punctures. It saved me from a wasp attack once and about 20 stings disappeared in minutes. Everyone should know this. I'm glad you're over it now. Thanks for another great video! 👍😁
Thank you for sharing that! 👏🏻☺️
Yes we use it at the beach for jelly fish stings works great
OMGosh thank you for sharing that. Will get some asap.
Wow! The way she just whipped up a patio table you know she is the real deal here ❤
I’m so proud of you ,a young woman taking control of her life ! Good luck on your journey !
That is very interesting about digging far enough down for your campfire so you don't cause a forest fire later on.
This is my favourite vlog ever. I’ve been having a tough time with my mom passing away and then old family issues arising that I’ve tried to keep out of. It’s been very difficult and I’m usually an upbeat kind of person.I’m in uk having a coffee watching and I feel a different person after watching, I look up and see the sun shining and all of a sudden the world is full of possibilities again. Thank you so much for this. I’ve watched your vlogs for a long time and I’m always in awe of your energy and inspiration al outlook. Today, You’ve made me feel happy again x
I am so sorry for your loss. Isn’t it amazing what a heart blessing that Brooks videos are! Her simple prayer for her viewer family… precious.
I too am going thru a rough time with my mom. Our family just made the decision to put her in a rest home. It is killing me! I’m so sorry for ur loss. I hope you can have peace and happiness very soon.❤️
What lovely prayer for your viewers! Thank you for thinking of us!
Amen🙏💖
The firepit advice is outstanding. Someone started a fire at the edge of a large woods in Michigan not knowing there was 12 foot deep peat muck soil underneath. The surface looked like normal everyday soil. The fire worked its way down into the muck. We spent a whole month fighting the fire. The only way to put out the fire was to dig a trench all around to below the muck and fill the trench with water. Thankfully, after keeping the water flow for a couple of days it rained very hard for a couple more days. The water, rain and working the fire area with long poles finally put the fire out. Even then most of the mass had to burn up to the trench before it finally stopped.
BEAUTIFUL love everything about this. The outdoors, the trees, the fresh air, the fire pit, the outdoor cooking, the wildlife, animals and just GETTIN OUT and GETTIN HAPPY 🥰❤️
thanks for watching!
Me too
I never thought about fire traveling via roots. Thanks for teaching me yet another lesson.
Sleeping Moose is too adorable 🥰
That's why campers should all have to sign a document to which site they were and ranger needs to tell them to FLOOD the spot after they had a fire! Campers SHOULD know this and they cause fires too. Alaskan trees have very shallow root system, it's why if you start cutting randomly, the other larger trees can fall over from wind and called a "widow maker". I've seen camp managers come in when they know you're leaving, look at the fire pit and will flood it even though you just did for an hour. You can't put too much water on the site especially if you allowed it to go out right before bed, it's gonna still be hot in the morning, after breakfast people think pouring a bottle of water puts it out. Nope. You need to add a BATH SIZED amount of water. Watch you'll see it bubble with heat.
…so nice you pray for your food and for all of us…thank you ❤️
I just LOVED that you prayed before your meal. It just puts “everything” in perspective,,, you will do very well. :)
I love how your family lives in both Alaska and Michigan. All five of my kids were born and raised in Michigan. Now two of those live in Fairbanks. Kalen is 21 and lives in Fairbanks. His twin Kaden lives in Alpena, Michigan.
wow cool!
I looked at AL for years... Ended up in da UP aye! Greetings from Camp 4!!
@@jessunandbrahma3184
I just got back to Lewiston from a visit to the UP! So gorgeous up there! Went on a trip up there with a friend to mine and rock hunt… I got a lot of nice rocks… some Jasperlite, and several good specimens of other various different kinds.
@@bernadetteevans2 Oh wow, interesting. I own land adjacent to Garland too. Was hoping to go exploring in the UP this year (my land is in Ontonagon) but beavers have my entire 60 acres flooded front to back. Hunting season next year instead apparently. Glad to hear our community is doing well, happy prospecting!
Wow I just found this. I enjoyed this so much. 😊
This may sound weird, but when I put your channel on, my cat will literally sit on the couch and put all her focus on to your videos. It’s absolutely adorable!!
i've had people tell me that about their pets too!
Pets are so in tune with us. My 12yo kitty goes camping with me all the time. She explores but never goes far. A specific routine REALLY helps, wet food every evening before doors close and bedtime approaches. ❤❤❤ Mine also watches TV with me! ❤😇😊❤
I love you for including us in your prayer ❤
You videos are such a mini-vacation for this city girl. I have such respect for your creativity, faith and relationship you have with nature. God bless you for being strong and healthy enough to take on these endeavors. I love your videos so much-- you are always such lovely company.
As homesteaders, we're no strangers to hard physical work, but that pile of stripped logs, prepped for seasoning just stunned me. I mean...wow. ❤️
It's Alaska. I'm not up there but my coldest day last year was -53, you don't exactly have a choice when cutting wood. A lotta guys hate it, especially when you do it every year and it just gets harder as you age, but if you don't stack the wood you freeze to death, it's really that simple
@@escapetherace1943 So how long did it take to cut, peel, and stack all those logs? You definitely have a great technique.
@@hometown215 well she spent 9 days. I can tell you with confidence it would not take me 9 days to cut those tiny trees down and delimb them them my friend but I don't want to brag, I'm definitely on the slow side
Yes, the way that bark just peeled right off.
Agreed. Girl u got ripped biceps. And inspire the heck out me !!
I love the videos both you and Dave produce! I've lived in northern Michigan and spent my high school summers working new residential plumbing in Anchorage. My dad was military so I grew up all over, but I loved the northern climates. Now I'm retired and and living on 40 mountainous acres in north Idaho, an hour from the Canadian border. My wife and I have a house under construction while we live in a 5th wheel on our property. And, finally, thank you for saying grace and including all of us in your prayer!
beautiful country
Hello Brooke,I so appreciate your videos and your puppies. I'll miss seeing Woof, such a gorgeous creature, love the breed!
I sure see a big difference in your property, love your picnic table, you never seize to amaze me,that's a long time.
I love it……what a peaceful home……I could stay there forever…….you are so blessed
It looks absolutely peaceful. That is what I don't think everyone understands. I even love the work. We live in the Mountains in AR. Harsh life but such an amazing life. Keep encouraging everyone to get out and get happy 💜
indeed
I love watching your family doing so many adventures.
Thank you for sharing the importance of digging down deep when making the fire pit. 🔥
I just love your Vardo it is beautiful!
Fantastic video, Brooke. The peace listening to birdsong, the campfire and woodworking.. and of course Mr. Moose!.. 😅 Blessings to you and your fam ! 🌻
So much more entertaining then ANYTHING on tv 👏🙌🥳
aww thanks
Your video showed up on my feed and I’m so glad it did. Seeing you in the woods reminded me of growing up in interior Alaska. The fireweed, sounds and the always lit summer sky brought back many great memories of being a kid and foraging for food, building dream cabins with fallen trees and my God, the wildlife. I’m so grateful you showed up in my feed and brought some of my favorite lifetime memories to the forefront of mind. Continue to be awesome, such an inspiration!!
Watching this lady is fascinating. Anybody that can go into the woods and make things happen is awesome!!
You're one heck of a woodswomen Ms Brooke !! I love your channel so much! ❤
You just slapped together a picnic table like it was nothing, what? You're amazing.
bahahah it's not hard

Oh and by the way. You are my hero. I wish I was younger to do the stuff you do. I use to do alot more than what I can do now. But I do still work hard building and homesteading, but you are amazing. And what an amazing life you have
What an inspiration, talk about an adventurous spirit, and how beautiful is Alaska? Very glad I bumped into your channel, wish you all the absolute best, God bless!
Really love the campsite. Very relaxing. Your chill vibe always makes for a great video. Thank you!😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it
Watching your video feels like a mini vacation for my busy mind. I love what you guys have going on. I love that you put our Creator first and recognize the beauty and blessings of life. And I have hope that come what may, the earth will be made better by humans like you in the future.❤
So good to hear Maysie DA WOOF is doing good! That was the first thing I was going to ask Brooke! So glad to see your new property. Love it!
I am always amazed at the energy you and Dave have. But that is how you get so much stuff done. Puppy was so cute when you mentioned squirrels. You made pealing the bark off the trees look so easy. 😮 Also loved the chickadee carving. You did well. Thanks for another great video. 😊
You work so hard! Love your builds and videos
Thank you so much!
You are a strong woman! A thinker, a planner, practical and artsy too! Great stack of logs! Love your bed and the twinkle lights!
makes me so happy to see people have such a special purpose with Nature! ❤
Omg! What a great video! I Enjoyed all that woodcarving. You are a totally awesome and amazing woman. All of us love you. ❤️
Thank you for praying for me (one of those watching). It touched my heart. Your strength, independence & faith in God is empowering. Thank you for sharing your adventures! ❤😊
The most amazing part of this video is when she peeled the bark off the logs! I never knew you could do that! I think this woman is so brave. I could maybe do this on or close to a beach, but never in the forests. No. She is brave. Kudos to you!
Wait till she meets bear in the woods
Wow..amazed at how you clean up those logs..you go girl!😊
I got relaxed just watching your day in nature 👍 saying a prayer thankful for your food. Priceless
Another awesome video. Hope your arm gets better. Love the nature and the prayers always. You are awesome and an inspiration. ❤
Love your videos Brooke! Yours and Daves! They are so laid back and relaxing. And for me, those few notes of Don Williams, that was the cherry on top! Loved it! Please keep them coming! And I hope your arm is feeling better!
good ol don
Please be safe out there! So cute your little home. 🙏🏼🌻💜
Got a good chuckle when that stump flew out of the ground. Started watching Mick and learned about you and his dad. Very interesting family. You guys have that pioneer spirit.
I'm in my 100 square foot Amish build cottage here in Michigan and you are my inspiration. I'm not alone out here wanting peace and loving the woods.. I'd buy your spoons.. Very whimsical . Thank you for sharing your time with us like minded gals 💞
I literally can't get over the spoons ! So awsome. Your food concoction lol not so much hahha! I love these videos , so incredible ❤
In addition to everything else that you do, you are one heck of a fire pit/camp builder! And always showing how to live in the bush in style! You would almost think you spend a lot of time hanging out with that character on Bushradical! Ha-ha! Or maybe it is the other way around? Your both great at bushcraft. And awesome people to watch and learn from. Great channels. And you inspire more than a few of us along the way! :) You both for sure teach us all how to "Get outside, and get happy!" Thanks for continuing to share! :)
awesome thanks much!
Girl, you are a Rockstar!!!
I so admire your fierce independence and your many talents, as well.
You have great knowledge that could fill a few books.
Thanks, for this wonderful video. I thoroughly enjoyed it..
God bless.
Another amazing video. Love the Vardo you built. So well done. Warms my heart to see someone build one of these based on my book. Really inspiring. Thank you!
OMG Brook. My daughter had the same exact thing. A bee sting and it got worse and worse. Turned out to be blood poisoning. They told her she should have come in two days earlier. Please get it checked out it also looks like it could be an allergic reaction to histamines.
Your Videos are refreshing, plus love the prayers before you eat,and asking us to take bite!! Been maybe over a year watching you& Husband do your builds& adventures, and now am watching your son!!
You're AMAZING!!! Be safe, and thank you for an awesome video .👍😊
I didn’t know about digging away the roots and fire either!
Sweet that you said a prayer ❤
Definitely one of your better videos, Brooke. I like the "day in the life" vids you and Dave do every so often.
Glad you like them
Bonjour Brooke 😊 Those stingers are either wasps or yellow jackets and the swelling may be caused by the sting that’s probably still in your skin. If you can remove it, you will feel much better. Also, clay is a good medecine. Take care and thank you for the videos ❤
I just recently found your channel. I LOVE this! I've always dreamed of having adventures in Alaska but unfortunately I started having back trouble and am now disabled. BUT I can enjoy watching adventures with channels like yours. I appreciate your hard work! Thank you!!
Great outdoor skills with a touch of elegance...I love it!
I really look forward to seeing your videos. I find they offer serenity, and you are a great storyteller, as is Dave. Thank you!
Oh yes, that old survival shelter! Looks super cleaned up! But, the root systems under the campfire - and how it travels - OMG - Thank You Brooke for this! 🎯👍❤️
I loved pulling out the stump. Gave me a chuckle.
Hi from the Yukon! I love your channel! I learn to much from watching you take on new things and actualizing your dreams. It's especially therapeutic when I feel stuck in life. Hope you are enjoying Alaska. Beautiful country :)

@@therealgirlinthewoods Thank you! Going to get outside and get happy❤️
What a natural-this lady is out there. Great info-videos edited so very well.
you and moose are living the dream, and you clean up pretty nice.
You created a really fine happy camp with a gorgeous little temporary home in your beautifully crafted Vardo trailer. Lovely. I like how you explained your method of making the campfire fire ring. Thanks for the extra footage and I do hope you'll be having great success in work during the coming weeks before winter hits. Moose is a great doggie and well-behaved. So cute in he brings the toy to his bed with him. Oh and kudos on building the table and carving the nice wooden spoons.
I love your videos. They are so relaxing and I learn a lot. Many years ago, I was a camp counselor in the mountains of South Carolina and I was stung in the back of my lower calves and it swole up like yours and itched too. But I scratched it while I slept and they bled. I can't remember if I treated them or not. I was following at the tail end of the group and I kept hearing the noise of buzzing insects and I was in their way and got zapped. I will never forget that.
Impressive to say the least! You are one hard working, resourceful lady - love it!
That's a wonderful 😅 portable camping mini trailer nice work looks very cozy too
So inspiring to see you overcome every obstacle, and keep a smiling. Thanks so much for bringing us along. I so wish I could come help you build the cabin next spring. I'll be watching for your video or if I get my wings like the doctors say I be watching from above. God Bless
Lucky you on your wings
Chickadees are my favorite little bird! You did an awesome job craving it and You did an amazing job with the logs!!!😳👍
Thank you for sharing this with everyone i Love this and May God bless you friend.🙏♥️👍
