- The Dallas Cowboys have an offensive line that's in trouble and I hate that Jerry and Stephen Jones let it get here.
The hole at left tackle and center leaves Dallas with not enough picks to get this thing right AND it stops them from being able to draft well if other positions slide to them.
The one potential solution? Tyler Smith could always play left tackle. I'll tell you why that's an awful idea and where we go from here.

Tyler Smith played LT as a rookie with no practice at tackle all camp. Haven't you learned not to doubt them drafting OL
We have had a part time LT for 5 years. Interior line is premium now
Not drafting offensive line early in last years draft was a mistake.
They could have had Torrence in the 2nd round. 😂

So true, no mention that Buffalo drafted a ready made left guard that we badly needed O' Cyrus Torrence for a bust TE. That we did not need and hurt all season long and when he played showed squat. Besides. Being older than all our TE's. Torrance played very well for Buffalo and will be a starter for years to come. We could have kept Tyler as our LT as well for yesrs to come because he, as a rookie was not a star right away, but played good enough to be a future star or very solid starter. Huge mistakes in last years draft because of not preparing to EVENTUALLY Replacing Tyrone. Now we are regretting it. Tyler was drafted to replace Tyrone and we chickend on that move. Dont think for a minute that Tyler will forget all negative trash talk by Dallas fans about his pick at 21. Yea all of you.
Center, LB, then RB with the 1st three Picks, IF the Draft falls perfect for us.
Hey Jeff if we drafted a center he would be the only rookie on the line.We don’t have any rookie guards Tyler bass player last year. It would be Tyler Tyler rookie Zach Terrance.That’s only one rookie Jeff .
They aren't serious about winning. That's been my biggest takeaway from this offseason. NOTHING they have done has indicated any desire to get better. The Jones family needs to sell the team to someone who actually wants to get back to a Superbowl.
They've kept a playoff window open for ten years, 12-5 and a top 5 roster the last 3 years in a row. The QB keeps choking.

I think we are missing what will probably occur. 1-2 OL players in next year's rotation are already on the roster as far as prior year's non starters. Draft 2-3 more in this draft with the expectation that one will be the starter and we are good to go.
Its the same way most are viewing the prior year's draft, assuming it will continue to be a bust. Most likely 2-3 of the top 3 players drafted will contribute far more in the current year.
Year 2 is always a much better year to view the progress of a draft. Plus, this team crushes OL drafting while the rest of the world questions those picks. Also, the RT should be better this year because an ACL tear normally takes a full year to recover from
You can't draft 3 linemen with all of the other holes. MAYBE they do a tackle and an interior guy, but one of them is going to be a late rounder.
@@Dizzydre21 Its 2-3 OL drafting ie two picks in the top 4, assuming some trades occur, and one in the 7th round. The latter was an assumption as you draft the best player available on your board by the 7th and there are usually lots of OL players taking in that round.
The first two OL picks should be starters by year 3, with the early pick being a starter year one and the latter after.
@robertfetrow4612 If you go back and look at all of the drafts for the last 10 or so years, we average about 1 long-term starter per draft. Some are definitely better and some worse. I'm just saying that finding a legit starter on the line is not very common, especially outside round 1.

@robertfetrow4612 Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I meant one rookie starter from each draft, regardless of position or round. If you're looking at OL only, and outside the 1st round, you get Biadasz, Williams, and McGovern. They were average players at best by year 3. Prior to them, you're looking at guys like Chaz Green.
Jeff is spot on again, what I think happens is a trade down in R1 - draft Kingsley Suamataia at LT next to Tyler Smith and Hoffman at C. Not ideal but feel like it's most likely. Maybe they take a Center later in draft as insurance for Hoffman, but they do seem locked in on Brooks in R2 at 56.
The best move us put Tyler Smith at LT and Bass at LG and Draft a Center
90% of NFL teams have a scrub or two across their offense lines. It’s all about how you disguise it.
I believe that the Jones duo thought they had put together the right team last season. And the way things ended, it looks like they aren't close. So now they are thinking about a complete reset. And I don't blame them. I expect them to trade down and add picks. And then just take best players available. Next season will be a long one.

I personally don't mind moving Tyler but I agree on Morgan and Kingsley S. as being targets if we stand pat or even trade down.
I’m fine with Tyler at LT Bass at LG Hoffman at C Zack at RG and Steele at RT. Hopefully they are as well and we can take best okay available regardless of position
I don't know if you've watched him yet, but what do you think of Walter Rouse, the LT at Oklahoma. Looks like he's projected in the 5th or 6th round but I was wondering if think he has potential.
Maybe they think the players from the last 2 drafts are finally going to step up and assume their upgraded rolls. Opportunity does fuel motivation for some people/players and maybe that’s all it takes for the picks that have started their careers slow
I'm okay with Hoffman at center but since since you don't know how much longer Martin is going to play you need to go ahead and draft move back and pick up a center with the other next two pics hopefully you get a second for that move back and you pick another guard or tackle and a running back and I would give Brooks a shot if you feel like you need to do running back linebacker on those next two pics I'm okay with that to. And I think I think they're going to be I think they're the offensive line is going to be better than u think
Center WR, and RB. Day 1 and 2. All fore trading next year picks or Vets with value
If you can play Edoga out at LT, you certainly can play Mims/Guyton/Barton there too. It’s rarely a perfect world in the NFL.
They fumbled the bag with Tyron. If they weren't planning on keeping him Longterm they should have re-signed him. Drafted our replacement LT 1st round then at the deadline Tyron and get a pick back. Just to let him walk for nothing is insane. Guarantee you that we could have got a 4th for him at the Deadline. Since the Jones put so much emphasis on keeping comp picks. IE not spending in FA til the window closes that you have to surrender picks to sign players to replace what left your team. They better not touch Tyler. He is an Elite All Pro LG. Might just be the best in the entire game in just his 2nd season... C is more of a need to me. Dak can deal an cope with and elude/evade pressure from the edge. When that inside pocket collapses is when he gets in real trouble. C by far is way more vital to me than LT. You can get a solid guy with solid skills/traits outside and be ok for this year for sure. Then swing big for our Franchise LT Next year.
I just wish everyone would stop with the left tackle the most important position is center unless you have a strong middle you have nothing as we know

I just don’t view it was doom and gloom if Tyler moves to tackle long term. If he was anyone else, we would’ve been highly encouraged by his rookie season at that spot and eager to see the next year leap. Instead, we fear he’s not a good tackle bc of our initial projections which were wrong to begin with? C’mon.

No its not a fear he wont be good. Everyone knows he had a much better than average rookie season. Or much better than was advertised. The problem is that when he was moved over to left guard, he went from pretty good to amazing. Thats the issue, as the guard position fits his skill set really well. They know he would be a very good lt, they didnt know he was an all-pro calibre guard. And now they would much rather leave him there and draft another lt.
You can get by with less experienced olineman, draft a rb that’s good in space & a speedy WR to spread out the offense
At this point take BPA. Too many holes and you got a potential question mark at QB soon if the Dak deal doesn't get done. If it does get done we will be cap strapped. Either way we're in for a long wild ride...if an elite WR is there like BTJ or AD let's take him. Time to run for your life Dak!
Could Barton play tackle? Also trade up for fraiser in the second?

The Dallas Cowboys offensive line isn't in trouble .. they've got proven starters at three positions , When Bass played guard last year the cowboys running game flourished so he's in at left guard and they already got a bigger stronger option at center .. They are in better position than most other teams in the league at this point ... They need a stud linebacker and a stud running back and they'll be good .. Their team is still loaded at key positions .. Frankly i'd love to see another year of defense heavy draft . Go watch the super bowl games the cowboys won and you'll see the Cowboys Defense won those games hands down ... We will be good ..

Smith was solid at LT as a rookie and that’s hard to do let alone as a rookie. And I did watch the blindside. 😂 They say moving him you will have 2 hole to fill, but I say you still will have 2 holes at LT and C if you don’t move him. Also, easier to draft a G/C than find franchise LT in n the draft.
@@redleader3394 he was not solid. He was on the all rookie team on account of the other rookie tackles being abysmal. He is the best guard on earth. You cannot replace that level of talent at guard and your reward for moving him will be a penalty prone, middle of the road LT. You can draft a better center than Hoffman in the 4th round and if shit hits the fan, trade back and draft Jordan Morgan at the end of the first

Such a stupid move to let Tyron go, esp since they paid him so little! It was insulting to him, imo! Would have been nice not to have to worry about the OT with a future HOF vet there to mentor the new OT this year. If they put Tyler at LT, then you will have a rookie at LG and a UDFA or another rookie at Center, next to each other...NOT ideal. Love Frazier! Really need rookie LT, vet LG, rookie C, vet RG! THAT is ideal! As much as I like our UDFAs, they are great as backups! The DT room is so small and the quality isn't there, they may be forced to bring in a DI FA! All of these rookies need to be whipped into shape since they will be adding 5 more games than they are used to! If this is a rebuild and they have all of their coaches on a 1 yr, if I were a coach, I would say FU at the end of next year if they try and sign me! Mind games is JJ's thing!

Cowboys are in rebuild mode...same as every team in the league with a "franchise" QB eating up massive chunks of the salary cap. Got to cut 1st team and depth to fit the cap. Tyron and Biadasz had to go due to money and lessening ability. No $$ to use in FA either

There's NOTHING more important than securing the OL.
"MOCK" allows one creativity and the chance to think outside the box.
They've got needs everywhere- so if they go pure BPA- it's certain that they'll fill a need with a good player... Then in the later rounds they can trade picks for veteran players... with the added benefit of knowing what they still need by day three. But they've got their own "plan".

Jeff .... at the end of the day Cowboys will have a top 10-12 or better offensive line depending upon the draft.
At the moment they have two really good guards and a bad right tackle with two blank spots. So while that could happen, it's surely not a lock!
