Playing since 2011 but never was serious about playing competitively. I still learned a bunch from this video.
1: I swore shock cooldown was 25 seconds for the longest time for whatever reason. Thanks for correcting me.
2: I'll consider playing on Wii U via wired connection now.
3 and 4: I was already doing these things, but reminders never hurt.
5: Best tip in the video.

I immediately got first in a world wide first try at 5k vr because I haven't played World wides before. I knew this stuff already, and I use my competitive knowledge with my world wides. I'm at high 6k so I hope to get to 7k which will be fun getting to 8k after. I knew luigi circuit was a luck track so i just chained shock and gotten an easy first place. This is actually good for new mkwii players that haven't played the game much before.

very good video, i tried to make this type of video but my video making skills are pretty lacking so this is quite the step up
hey mate so i was struggling with my net (being austrailian) so i took your advice and switched to a wii u and im using the official switch ethernet adapter and my lag has gotten worse! Are there any settings that i do that could possibly make it better?
Slight correction the graphics quality of the Wii u in wii mode is still a maximum of 480p, I would agree to get a Wii u if your connection is dropping out.
Unfortunately the only way to get better than 480p Wii games is using dolphin
I don't even know why it would be important to predict shock 😂
You can hold your power items to dodge the shock if you’re expecting it. That is the main reason. There are also other things like using all your mushrooms, jumping off the track to get a good respawn, slowing down or waiting at an item set. There are plenty of other reasons but they are mainly for competitive play. I don’t imagine many casual players would try to use the shock strategically or hold it for very long unlike competitive.

I’ve spent 7 years trying to complete the 150cc special cup. Haven’t done it, and am still trying to this day
edit: 1ST PLACE, GOLD TROPHY, DAISY, AND A STAR!!! BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, 7 YEARS OF PAIN COMES TO AN END!!! THE 150cc SPECIAL CUP IS OVER!!!

How to get first place in every race (Grand Prix non-internet). First, race in the 150cc cups so you get used to having the computer beat the snot out of you especially right before the finish line. By then you'll have mastered or at least gotten very good at each track. Next, race the 50cc races and it'll be easy as the computer isn't as aggressive. You're welcome. I never understood why it mattered about the shocks, you can't defend against them anyway. I wouldn't sit in front of a box waiting for the right time to get one yourself, so frankly it doesn't matter. You could get zapped just once in each race, or 4 times, just depends. But again, I'm talking solo play and not internet. But sure is frustrating trying to get a 3 star ranking though.
My biggest issues with this game is running into walls, falling off the edge, and running into dropped items.

Its funky kong, you unlock him by getting 4 fast staff ghosts trials, you unlock fast staff ghosts by beating normal staff ghosts first
Every character has a different stat buff, daisy and funky are meta because they have the best speed buffs

How do you play online
The first time I played was 10 years ago I used to play a lot in the past but still didn’t know about the WiFi lag? Mario kart wii is mostly offline so I am just confused
You can play online on the custom servers. Look up CTGP, it’s free and you can begin playing with thousands of other people

Definitely possible to play at a high level with Wii Wheel, it's just much easier to get to that level with either a GCN Controller, Nunchuck, or Classic controller

Lounge is an online community run ranked ladder system for competitve MKWii matches. mkwlounge.gg/ is the site and you can find the discord on there. You can then get ranked and start queueing into matches

Character doesn’t matter. Just use flame runner or Mach bike.
why is everyone playing the same character and car
Flame Runner is by far the best bike in the game. Has great mini turbo, drift, weight, and speed. Funky Kong is the fastest character you can use on the best bike.

you forgot to mention that for even faster wifi for the wii u you can change the dns settings to 008.008.008.008 and secondary to 008.008.004.004 which helped alot
