For people who aren't invested in speedrunning, saving even half a second in the original Super Mario Bros. (A 5 minute run) is HUGE. Imagine saving 3 seconds on a 2 minute run. That's literally earthshattering.

From a competitive and black and white standpoint, God back-bombs are a terrible mechanic, though I feel as soon as we start outright "banning" the usage of back bombs, almost all aspects become a grey area: What about situationally? What if a team rightfully plays their way in to top four and their fourth happens to have a bomb in their pocket? It'd be rather silly to pass such an opportunity to not back it, no? Unsporting, sure but that's the aim of the game, that is MKW. What's stopping someone from pulling a Pow in fifth and dropping to eighth with it to benefit their team? Would that result in a pts deduction regardless if it was their intent? People commonly get controller malfunctions, too; accidentally backing/throwing items in the wrong direction, nunchucks (in particular) using items when the user clearly did not. If this is the case, I too feel we put item-shlagging in to question? Back bombs are just as annoying as the opposition driving slow with triple shells, stars, megas, thunder cloud, etc. As much as I dislike back-bombs I think the way to go about it wouldn't to be straight-up banning it; perhaps a "nerf" should be implemented in to CTGP where instead of having the character fly up as if they've been hit by a blue shell, they should instead have the same affect as hitting a fib or something and then I feel that'd be tenuous at best. P.S: If anything needs fixing for competitive integrity, MH bomb car explosion radius' are at the top of the list. lol

In MK8DX, you can get bombs even in 1st place - and yet, nobody cries about back-bombing being broken. Instead we cheer when someone lands a cool bomb snipe.
