Also upgraded a tablet PC (Acer Iconia Tab W510) to 8.1 - no problems whatsoever. I am not saying things like this never happen, but if they do happen to just you, maybe it's time to check your hardware stop teaching.

i remember the last time my computer looked and worked like that. it was the late 90s, i was a teenager who had cleated a custom(painfully ugly) colour scheme, and my computer had an adware infection that kept popping up animated gif adverts.
I upgraded to 8.1 pro and my bluetooth no longer works - but it was a dongle rather than a native function of my old PC. Other than that, everything else works fine. I suffered no problem with the installation or data loss. Best wishes.
The only problem I have with 8.1, is that I can't play Black Ops 3 multiplayer or campaign. BO3 requires a windows media feature pack, and it's only compatible with windows 8.

You must be using a very old machine... I updated 20+ machines to 8.1 and had no issues at all. Actually older machines run smoother. Wow. Before reading the comments, I recognized a smugness in the way this presentation was done. David sounds like a Mac user with the same arrogant problems I've heard from Mac users for years now. There was a review of a Windows app last year named "Soundforge" but for OSX. The review was just as arrogant "in tone" as this one. I run both systems "Mountain Lion" and "Windows 8-8.1". Both are great "in my opinion". I didn't and don't have any of these issues "including installation problems" upgrading to 8.1 or performance issues. If you don't like teaching/reviewing Windows apps, then don't do it. Review and teach what you love. This was a waste of time to do and watch. No value added here.
Im buying a new computer with the Samsung SSD 256 proseries do you think that it will go as slow for me? I'ts suppoed to be one of the fastest SSD's on the market, noww idont know what you have but if windows 8.1 is that slow i Think I made a huge mistake ordering it.

My new machine is twice the ram, 8, i7 processor, etc. and so, especially if Windows 8 is supposed to be faster than 7, should be screaming fast out of the box. It's not, at least for you or I.

He's so mad.... he's butthurt because he doesn't have patients. My computer upgraded fine aswell as the fan doesn't burst like his does. He probably has a shitty computer like he downloaded a lot of scrap or doesn't keep it in a good enviroment. I care for my computer like a child.
I think is because this guy is emulating windows with a virtual machine using a mac book and emulating always is more slow than the original, windows emulated doesn't have the same optimisation than the original windows
u guys just have slow computers .....my laptop is dualcore dell inspiron m5040 and it came with windows 7 home premium and i installed 8 ant it was great and recently updatet to 8.1 and its amazing and everything happens in a dlash .....dont criticise windows 8.1...instead....BUY BETTER COMPUTERS!!

Dual screen apps crashing right david...we had NO problems there either. he keeps talking bout load time BULL again got two side by side here 8 and 8.1 see NO diff in speed...
