He said "bobo"... it's softer than saying stupid... it's more like dummy or silly. In fact, we as argentinian use it often in our daily speech, even if we are not arguing with the other person. You can literally say to a friend "che bobo, cuándo venis a casa?", "hey silly, when are you coming home?".
Even in Brazil we use bobo, you’re completely right

Yes that’s why it’s so obvious there was malicious instigation beyond normal teasing from the now innocence feigning Dutch.
Netherlands had the strategy of provoking him and the team during the whole match, even at the penalties you see how they approach to trash talk them. I think that was a weakness Argentina had back in 2014 and Germany exploited it at the finals. He was angry and still in heat of the game on a match where pressure was sky high. What are we expecting? Players are not robots. They are human beings with feelings and emotions. That's the beauty of the game.
Agreed, aslong as its just verbal I dont mind anger. Messi, was nasty in some ways like the handsball but nothing too major. Paredes on the other hand is a cunt and should not play football anymore.
Disagree, during a game maybe. Childs get away with childish behaviour because their brain is not fully devoloped, adults should know how to control emotions and feelings. Its just so obvious that the Argentina players let anger control their behaviour instead of being happy about the win.
For Messi, alot of stuff was said, pregame, him not understanding thats part of boosting your team's morale just shows that he is not the brightest. Yes he is a human being with emotion, and yes he is still the GOAT, but come on someone who has played so many important and heated matches needs to control their emotions (espacially after the final whistle).
Pressure was on, but the rev funked up the whole match... Messi should have a yellow card for that blok by hand ✋️

Van Gaal has long history of issues with Argentinian players, Riquelme, Di Maria. Messi celebration is for those players he left at the bench and ended their career.

The reason why Argentine players mocked the Dutch team after the win is the Dutch players heckled and mocked the Argentine players walking to take the penalties. There are some videos going around which show it.
You must have missed Paredes kicking with all his strength a ball from 3m to the Dutch bench. Unbelievable that he wasn't showed a red card, but the referee was one sided for most of the match anyway. Argentinians never losing an opportunity to be the worst fair play side in a world cup.
@@sembiotic3468 bruuhh.. i saw the match.. but i felt like the dude just cleared the ball.. it was dumb of him to do so but idt it was directed at them.
@@sembiotic3468 Dude go read the match stats. Argentina committed 18 fouls and Netherlands 30. The Dutch spent the entire match heckling and insulting the opposition to get a reaction and hopefully a red card, including harrasing players during the penalty kick which should have been instant red cards for them. No matter how you spin it, numbers dont agree with you. The Dutch were 2 times dirtier than the Argentines on foul count ALONE. If you can't even try to be impartial there's no point in talking to you.
@@sesanti Bro, you can't judge this match on those kinds of ''fouls''. The Dutch may stil lhave out-fouled the Argentinians but that number should probably be dropped by 10. That ref literally blew his whistle for everything. Not to mention he is known for giving cards quite easily. No wonder the number looks this inflated. Conclusion: on a heated match like this, a true world cup rivalry, you don't put a ref like that. Not to mention the Argentinians were just as unsportsmanlike as the Dutch, and not just because of provocation.
@@sesanti you are totally right 👍the most adequate quote
'Bobo' is the mildest way to call someone *'dummy'* or even 'fool'. Not much of an insult.
Been watching this two teams classic clashes since 94 World Cup all those games were insane as this
Messi said "bobo". Not stupid (estúpido). Bobo is more like saying dumb or dummy. The reason his reaction was frowned upon is most of the world doesn't know the ammount or the severity of Argentinian insults.
Messi's choice of words with "bobo" resulted very funny to argentinians because it's an insult not even children use due to how tame it is.
Lmao
Messi is angry at Weghorst calling him a 'dummy/fool' because at the end of the second half, Weghorst said something in his direction. This caused Ake and Van Dijk to try and calm Messi down. There was a video on youtube from behind Messi which caught this.
The thing is I am Dutch and most of these things were translated poorly in the media. Van Gaal did not say it in the way it was translated. He did not talk disrespectful about Argentina, but because of bad translation everyone thought that.
exactly in fact i thought argentina was the disrespectful team… when they celebrated after the pens and when paredes shoot at the bench of NL… i dont get why he didnt get a red card

THE LAST PLAYER YOU'D WANT TO WIND UP BEFORE A GAME AGAINST YOU - LEO MESSI.
Messi in savage mode! 😍😍😍😍
Messi is the nicest angry person lmao
Match was on Fire 🔥
That celebration - (hands behind the ears)- was firstly made by Juan Roman Riquelme. When he was playing for Boca Jrs at Argentina he had a dispute with the direction comitee of the Club ... he was winning important Trophys for the club and the DC was refused to pay him more as he demands a better contract as a feedback- Roman really wanted to stay in the club. The president of that board Mauricio Macri told him that he should accept the offer that Barcelona was doing for him, cause otherwhise he will stay in Boca Jrs for just the same payment (the contract saids 20% more and just that- its was king of a leonine clause-of course in that time was so little for a crack as RM10 ). So in that context that president was sitting in a vip stage at the stadium "la bombonera" watching a match of Boca, so Riquelme scores -people go wild and started chanting his name- and he went right to the direction of the vip stage (and the top of the stadium) while doing the same celebration Messi did against Van Gaal.
After the match Riquelme was asked about the celebration, if it was dedicated to someone, and he replyed: its for my daughter , she likes very much the "Topo Gigio" (a character from Argentina for kids that is a Mouse)... So the celebration its called like that , the Topo Gigio.
... Then at Barcelona this character Vaan Gaal say to him : when you have the ball you are the best player in the world , when you dont we are playing with 10... kind of the same thing he said to Messi at the previous of the game...- so with that kind of excuse, this dude disrispect players at the level of Riquelme, Messi, Dimaria,
thats why that celebration is not just a revenge , its a poem
This character Van Gaal was Riquelme's coach. He was in charge of a team. So if one player is not doing everything for the team the coach wants, I think the coach has a right to say something about it. It was in no way an attempt to disrespect Riquelme, as a matter of fact, he wanted him to improve become better than he allready was (for the team).
I feel like the Argentinian team had been fired up before the game against the Netherlands by providing them snippets of interviews in order to construct a false story: the story that the Dutch disrespected the Argentinian team. And it worked. Too bad that they actually believed it, because how Messi and several other players lost their heads during the match and afterwards was not pretty. Because you can not truly believe that mocking your opponent is justified because they said they had practised on penalties and they hoped for a revenge after losing on penalties 8 years earlier (if you could call that disrespect in the first place).
BTW I doubt Van Gaal will loose any sleep over Messi's Topo Gigio gesture. The man has been confronted with far worse behaviour (how about half a stadium mocking and singing about your wife having just died from cancer).
Im not reading all of that, congrats or sorry you going through this
This is a different messi we are seeing with more character & personality 🔥

I saw 2 teams who fight hard and don't want to lose. And because the both teams are equally matched and this was a long match. I can say that works on your frustration. I think all players got frustrated and that makes them angry.
@@allertvbarneveld2388 true indeed

@@ufonouten3601 know
@@ufonouten3601 Because the day before the game, the coach was trashtalking about Argentina and Messi (he said that Messi is not that important for the team at his age, and Argentine team plays with one less man). In his entire career, Van Gal never liked South American/Argentine players. One of them was Juan Román Riquelme, and Messi celebrated in Van Gal's face, as Riquelme used to celebrates his goals
That was the pass of 2022 form messi yo he didn’t even look up yo just a goat thing 🐐😎
The problem was the following, mainly bad translation. Lío assured that Louise had commented: Messi stayed still on the match, when Arg did not have the ball in play. As a result of Messi's reaction. Teasing and shoving between players and substitutes of both teams, and finally the arbitration should be reversed by FIFA, since it only dedicated itself to making things more complicated. Anyway great match! 😄
Messi doing Riquelmes celebration is epic
Is soooooo SAD, Argentina have no class
The reason he calls Brazil a "little counter team" is because that's what the Dutch team got called in our nation media (more or less). Dutch media really hate not playing 4-3-3 Total Football. While many international critics felt the Dutch played a decent if not explosive world cup, domestic critics despise the playing style and call them "FC Tikkie Breed" (Lateral Pass FC). Those same critics called Brazil, playing with similar tactics but a bit more flair and style moves, "sparkling".
That's where Van Gaal's frustrated remarks came from, I guess. I think he has a point - for the first time in generations, the Dutch central defenders are the best part of our national team, which leads to a more defensive playstyle. Nobody in the world has a problem with that, apart from the Dutch ex-footballers constantly lambasting it on tv and in the papers. But that same playstyle is suddenly fine when other countries (even big countries) use it. That's why he was applying those same kind of denigrating remarks to Brazil - in his eyes, it's what Dutch journalists would have called Brazil if they had the same standards for other teams as for our own.
I think your comments did put a little more context on why Van Gaal saying that. However, it is always bad to poke your enemy in the eyes. It will give them more motivations to fight you. So in the end, a bad move.
Great explanation. Thank you. I guess he took out on the wrong people and it backfired as the Argentinians are not ones to lie down and take it gracefully. They are proud self-respecting people as well as very competitive. LVG made a terrible mistake.
The problem is that Van Gaal is praised as a legend while his biggest achievement was to win a champions league 30 years ago with an incredible Ajax. All his other teams even Man U played horrible football. And he always uses dirty tricks or shit talking. Most times those tricks backfire, especially when you play against a team like Argentina. He should accept that football has changed a lot and focus on playing better than their rivals instead of his typical “win at any cost” philosophy.
@@Marlonbrando1225 Exactly!!! like Mourinho, Darth Vader of football. Huge conflict with Cruyff who wanted beautiful football and Van Gaal win at any cost football. Who's going to be the hero of football. Not Van Gaal.

That’s not at all what he said, I’m Dutch and van gaal never said they’re gonna win the penalty’s easily. He only said that he instructed his players to take the penalty’s at their clubs which they did. Because of that van Gaal hoped they would improve with penalty’s because the Dutch nearly Always lose when it comes to penalty’s. He also did not once trashtalk Messi. He only said that he hoped we would beat Argentina this time as he lost to them in 2014 when van Gaal was also the coach. Van Gaal never said anything negative about Messi.
@@marvin_demon Poor translations and misconceptions are all there is nowadays...
@@koningkoe You must be right 👍
Van Gal is a fool, that's what Stoičkov, Ćirić and Riquelme said!!!support from Serbia to Argentina!!!
Is it me or Louis van Gaal looks like someone who would play villain in a movie or TV Show
Looks like Peacemakers dad (a villian in a tv show)
Yes the villain that pretends he’s not a villain and is fooling everyone in the show but the audience is yelling at the hero to watch out.
@@ladyelainefairchild3546 I know right
"Small counter team." Aaah the irony is strong and the blow of karma even harder. This only makes the Argentina W even sweeter! Vamoooos!
He said that abt Brazil
Thats just typical van Gaal he meens it more of a joke
Noob, rewatch the video.
Good summary thanks. İ was unaware after the game what played.
The amount of Lionel Messi "asskissery" is great here. He basically insulted and acted very rude to the coach of a national team. All Ronaldo did was highlight the negative side of Manchester United, but then everybody is treating him like he is the son of the devil.
This world is very weird.
I'm Argentinean. Messi said: "what are you looking at, silly?". He didn't say "hell" or "idiot". It was very soft and cute.
Messi is a true Lion. Controlled energy at work
THIS WC IS ARGENTINA'S! Cmon GOAT you have 1+ billion prayers from India. I feel bad for Brazil and Portugal as I wanted them to be one of the finalist. But it is what it is. VAMOS AR 🔥 ❤ 🇦🇷
Leo Messi is synonymous with FIFA WORLD CUP FOOTBALL-2022 at Qatar. Without Messi, the beauty of overall Football will not be there.
Well done, Argentina. Seeing the Netherlands out from the World Cup was amazing.
Honestly is this all it took for van Gaal to piss them of that badly? Sure there is more right. I mean all the players are taunting them after the win
Nope. Im Dutch myself and Van Gaal didnt trash talk at all. He only said Messi does not like to defend but still is a dangerous player to look out for.
No that’s it, that’s why I don’t want Argentina to win. They’re too childish. I have heard so much worse shit being said about other players and teams, and nobody has reacted like that after a win. Bad winners are so much worse than bad losers
@@supimsatan that's it son you don't know half the reason why PPL hate that guy.The amount of Latin American talent that guy nipped of is unreal .Wow some loyal fenboys out here
There's a long history with Van Gaal and southamerican players going back to Barcelona and Manchester times. He had troubble with every southamerican player he coached and some controversial ones. All besides the before match talking and previous world cup history
The dutchs were trash talking hard during penalties. Some of them when to search for Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez to mock'em and make them mad, even the GK. Di Maria had to go defend him.
Wanna trash talk? Well, get f ck d
Manage of the Netherlands was saying Brazil is a small attacking team, and the match was typed up going in. Then he started; south Korea offense attack all the time, meaning they are a better attack team than Brazil.
No. Van Gaal was criticized for his defensive tactics, that is a very Dutch thing. He rebutted that pointing at the hypocrisy of the Dutch media regarding their admiration for Brazil, that plays with about the same tactics, and threw in an often used Dutch hyperbole (counterploegje).
Van Gaal literally calls Messi a non team player when he hast the best goal to assist ratio and an amazing probablilty of providing a goal
Cant wait for arg vs fra final vamos messi vamos argentina

If it's Messi, it's hilarious, funny, polite insulting and disrespecting others. Had it been it was CR7 the whole media would've been bashing him
That’s true because he been doing that a lot
But Messi only said: "what are you looking at, silly?". That's why it's hilarious, funny, and polite. It seems that whoever did the translation wanted to make Messi look bad.
Van Gaal’s pregame talks was totally uncalled for, and so was Messi’s charge at the end.
Argentina 🇦🇷 the best team in the world 🌎 I am so proud watching from Hawaiian islands 🏝 Bravo,Bravo Argentina 🇦🇷
😂
When Lautaro Martinez was walking towards goalpost to take the penalty kick, he was Hounded by at least 4 Dutch players and the assistant refree had to intervene. I guess maybe you missed this one. Anyway it was a pulsating Netherlands and Argentina game. It was unlucky that The Dutch lost it in penalties.
