Nice video mark very well explained I’ve just recently worked on some Peugeot scooters as per my videos unfortunately mr bodger had been there before me so I had to make good and put the scooters back to standard they now start on the button and even though mph has dropped they quite happily sit at 35-40 mph one was a 2T and one was a 4T also I live your humour on your videos keep up the good work 👍

Hi mark just wondered if you could help me out my speed fight 2 really struggles to go past 30 it’s got 6 gram rollers Leo vince tt exhaust and upjetted to a 68 it’s got a malossi sponge in the airbox and it’s got new carbon fibre reeds
Hi Mark. I have a problem that when I drive my speedfight 2. And there where is the air filter for the carburetor. And on the bottom of the air filter box is like a small hole so when I'm driving. And a bit time later there's like the mix that's a bit dripping from the carburetor. I think that's because a bit gets in the like pipe that's in the air filter. Is that bad or what?

Hello Mark, great video. I have a question, what are you referring when you took down the choke what can adjust?
when you take out the auto choke, if its not starting the best it can sometimes be the auto choke and this can be adjusted by screwing in or un screwing the lower part which will give you more or less choke and help towards the starting
most of the time you would not have to play with it

Never use anything
Just new dry roller and clean everything with clean cloths
Make sure the variator is clean and the inner part too
Hi Mark, really enjoyed this series. I was wondering if you could give me some advice for the problem i have with my speedfight 2 (Air cooled). The problem Im having is that it loses power after driving for 1 minute or so, it just keeps going slower until it stops.

no bud its a sports exhaust and that the only way, they are cheap and they make a big difference
you dont always need an upjet either
Just bought a used 49cc .Guy was fed up with it . He didn't realize letting it sit outside for the winter does to these things .I cleaned the fuel tank replaced carburetor. Runs like new . only had 1400 miles .
Marc I know you hate cone type air filters . My problem is I've installed a 2 piece pipe and muffler exaust. Using factory airbox it misses a little .Running without filter it's much better . I'm I going to have to go with cone. Its doing about 74 KMH . Also replaced the variator weights .

But as long as you can keep it dry it will be fine
Hi Mark love the videos u do and I've learned a lot but I've a little problem with my Speedfight 2.
When I start the bike up I let it tick over and once my auto choke goes off I set off but at first it's spluter then revs up and goes and when I'm sat at the train crossings it's ticking over nice but when I go to set off it starts splutering again the it's ok.
The carb is a 12mm gurtner carb with a 60 main jet the needle is in the middle.
I've fitted 6gram rollers along with a malossi double red sponge in my standard air box and a giannelli exhaust would u say I need a smaller or bigger main jet ?
This can be you fuel lines hard or not tight , pilot jet dirty , reeds causing this lag
Even a faulty plug
Take it you have tuned like in my video bud

To be honest yes it is and I've removed the link pipe as u said u throw em away so I followed your advice and got rid I'll try some new reeds first if still no go I'll down jet to a 58 and let u no tomorrow if ok

He mate I've got a peugot speedfight 50cc 2 stroke and it was running when I went to buy it and on the way home it cut out now it wont start it has fuel, air, spark and a bit of compression any ideas to get it running thanks mate
this happens a lot bud and the last owner knows it and sold it like it, have you contacted them as you do have buyers rights even private

Hi Mark. I have speedfight 2 2004 AC. And is it normal that with full gas tank I can drive about 100km? And I have all original parts on.
It does come down to how you ride it and top speed!!
If restricted to 30 mph then that's not the best but only small tanks and a lot better than a car !
Hi mark, got another speedfight question
I was out driving my scooter pretty hard and going down a hill i felt a bang. From then on, my scooter cannot reach over 20mph. The bike still starts fine, and revs happily on its stand and from immediate pull away, but whenever I plant the throttle it slows right down to tick over and will not accelerate. I’ve checked my variator, and my gearbox seems undamaged, so is it likely that my clutch has slipped and needs replacing?
odd but would be going over it defo , could of been a back fire

@@marksavage I can notice some slight score marks on my clutch bell and some bluing on the metal. My driven pulley is also definitely out of round. Could this be causing the problem? What concerns me is that if my clutch was slipping, why would my engine bog down when I open the throttle?
Its become pretty difficult to start, the tick over is high and the rpms take a while to settle down when I lift off the gas. Blown crank seal perhaps?
If I had a bad crank seal, wouldn’t this also explain a backfire due to an extra lean condition?
Hi mark, great video as always 😀. And amm i have a little problem with my speedfight, so sometimes when i drive for less than a mile with almost full throttle it starts bogging, loses power, but when i release the throttle for 2-4 seconds it goes perfectly again.
This can be a few things
Jet size
Float problems
Fuel lines
Air mix
Last service
Plug, air filter

Variator can help , carb ! If it starts and runs id leave it

It's a 4t so no bud a lot of these really will only go 30mph
However
Clean variator , new rollers
Small upjet and tune
Take out and carb restrictors
And if you can get a sports exhaust
This will all help to get more out of it

Hi mark got a question what colour is the immobiliser wire on the cdi unit and can u cut it as its preventing me from starting my bike
The cdi units with immob also have a key detection so its not a wire you can cut thing
Bud , if no spark its a new cdi and key or if you can get one a bypass unit

They are one of the best and a brand I use

Hi mark just wondered if you could point me in the right direction with my speed fight 2 was on the stand running mint I cut it out came back to start it and it wouldn’t start I eventually got it started but it would only idle wouldn’t Rev at all it’s had new carb fresh fuel new spark plug the carb has a 62 jet in it the bike has left me really stumped I can’t find what’s causing the problem
they do this and as in my videos all 80 of them on speedfights it can drive you mad !!
its got to be from the start

it could be from piston failure and yes they can just go like that

mark savage cheers for the reply mark managed to get it back running the spark plug cap wasn’t on properly but now it’s gone back to not reving I think it’s an electrical issue but I’m just not sure what electrical issue it could be everything mechanical seems fine to me but it seems to me like it’s not getting enough spark at high rpms but this is where it stumps me because sometimes I can turn the bike on and it will be fine then it will just go back to how it is right now just only idling
mark savage update managed to find a loose wire causing the issue by any chance do you know how to wire up a 4 pin starter relay for my electric start to work
hello mark, i saw a video on youtube of a piaggio zip being converted from air cooling to water cooling. would this be possible on a speedfight 2 if i wanted to improve cooling and power?
no this cant not be done on the speedfight engine due to the placement of the crank in the engine, LC are faster so maybe change the whole engine might be the way forward bud

I’ve come back to this idea of a liquid cooled swap and bearing in mind your advice I believe that it may be possible to use a liquid cooled cylinder on an air cooled case. I’ve studied my own cases and compared them to cases on a liquid cooled model that uses a mechanical oil pump - the dimensions and designations show they are identical. Surely, then, my case could function with a liquid cooled top end?
I would like to say I really appreciate your free advice and that I trust your experience, having worked on these scoots for years. However, I just don’t see why this wouldn’t be possible.

replace the air fan with a water pump and connect a radiator , the blue plug is for the top that will show the water temp

Hi mark, i have A question. How do i empty my gas tank on my speed fight 2 AC 2004? I know that you have to put the hose that goes to carburetor like in A can so the gas would go in there but theres no thing coming out of that hose. Do i have to blow air in to the other hose that goes like in intake manifold or how?

@@marksavage ok thanks. But i have another question. I recently Made my gas tank together with oil. Like i mix gas and oil by myself (pre mix). But i took out all the hoses from oil pump and unplugged it. But now theres A Red flashing like the oil lamp on the speedometer. Is it because i unplugged the oil pump? And what do i do to stop the Red oil lamp flashing?

Hi Mark hope you can help, i have
Peugeot Speedfight Ice 125cc 4 Stroke, it has all of a sudden started to bog down it does not want to rev over 4/5k rpm.
It just started mid ride at a junction and i had crawl all the way home.
Have stripped and cleaned carb, changed CDI, coil and fitted new plug, still the same, has anybody had the same problem and know a cure ?
In this poor wet weather the filter can clog up and will need changing
Plug can get water on it
Clean and dry off ht lead wd40 after
Fuel lines become hard or split
Check and change
Oil ok ?
Cdi and connectors all ok
Wd40 them

All 2t can get oil come back into the air box
Take off clean or replace the filter
New plug
A tune and use good quality 2t oil bud

Hi mark got a speedfight 100 will tick over any throttle and she cuts out, doesn’t have original carb can’t quite work out the model, can’t quiet work out how to get the jet needle out of the slide lol.. I’ve took carb bowl off and it’s running a 95 main jet couldn’t tell you what notch on jet needle the old guy I brought it off said oil pump issue so I blanked off the pipes to that and premix today whilst messing with carb bloody starter packed up haha, any suggestions mate?
Oh and an aftermarket air filter was like it when brought lol
@@ryancarrington6064 try and get a speedfight carb bud otherwise your in a world of trying to set up But if Chinese carb the air mix should be all the way in not 3 half

no you cant not without changing the loom too, they are not immob ones so you dont need to nor is it restricted

On the sp1 and 2 the cdi works unrestricted
On the sp3 and 4 is when you have to play with them

The sp3 made both engines so yes bud
I've done both sp2 50 to 100cc and on the sp3 but you have to change everything
Clocks and cdi exhaust etc
The cdi is the main part as this is the restrictor !

Thats a immob loom so you need an immob engine bud !
You can change the stator coil or the loom and cdi
This is why you have no spark bud

That's really strange how they modified the crank. I guess it must of been done in the bike. Otherwise you would just change the crank, if you split the cases.

yes this is what I thought, was it easier than changing the crank, I guess but a lo of messing however it worked !!
What do I do when my moped puts too much oil in the fuel.
pre mix or pump?
@@marksavage premix I put much oil in the fuel
@@marksavage it slowly choked itself off I emptied all the fuel and put a better mix in it but it still doesn't start
@@muratzecic8837 oh id pre mix until it comes through but as it wasn't working you may have damaged the piston if it was running without 2t oil !
this is the common result for seized engines or damaged pistons

Hi Mark, Great Videos. Can you tell me what is the standard Carb for the speedfight 100cc 2006, as I suspect that the 1 I have is incorrect, I found out that the person who had it before me upgraded the piston to 125 but I have put it back to 100.

to be honest bud if you have not got one you are not going to get one as they are very rare, your only going to find partner part ones on e bay which will take a lot of setting up if it runs ok at all, try text moped breakers or seller selling speedfight parts to see if they have one
remember 50cc ones dont fit !!
