My moped is doing the same thing that you explained bogging down has no power and it never started until my CVT belt broke and I replaced it with another one. After I replaced it when it started. And I tried everything. I bought another belt that did not work and then I bought a brand new variator and that did not work and then I bought a brand new clutch and still it done the same thing so then I bought a brand new carburetor CDI box change the spark plug change the oil and it's still doing the same thing. But I'm wondering if it is my clutch which is brand new because when you grab it with your hand and squeeze it to open the clutch it's extremely tight and it's very hard to do so do you think it could be the new clutch? I really tried everything and I'm so frustrated. The moped will start it will even run but once I get it on the highway it has no power I'll hold it to the floor and it has no power and when I come to a stop sign it almost dies and it's horrible on the take off and give it gas and it takes a moment to take. I've spent like $200 trying to figure this out so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Thanks for the video. I have a TaoTao thunder, its a 49cc but i have a 100bore kit on it. I have been having a problem similar to what you are describing. #1, takes long to turn over (the kick start wont work at all). As i leave my house, about 50 yards out i reach top speed then the engine begins to loose power, the throttle will be wide open but my speed will reduce, then a few seconds later it will recover.. ive had my machine loose power to the point of a 'crawl'. Ive heard many theories and even mechanics say they fixed the problem to no luck. Any ideas? Im afraid to more than 3 miles. Some have told me the engine lost compression and its toast, others say the carburetor needs to be adjusted. Any advice?

being Yamaha i guess the engine would of been made better, i would go for timing or valve damage even piston failure as you can still get compression !
as you have a running bike i'd be using parts and swap them over till it ran, or other way round so take parts of the none runner so you would know they work then you would be left with what does not

If you were getting 45 with 3.5 rollers that's good as I use heavy normally for better top end
If you can take off the variator system

Hi Mark, thanks for all the videos , have a few problems with a speed fight 3 50cc.
Takes a bit of work to get it started , and revs up very high where it almost feels its going to pull itself off the stand ,then settles about 2500 revs. When pulling away revs itself but does not go anywhere and eventually pulls away after about 3 of 4 sec. When running all seems ok until you have to stop ... traffics lights etc then cuts out.
I bought the scooter with mods on .... bigger rollers I was told exhaust and after market carb. I had been given all the original parts so got a garage to change the exhaust. I was going to get it booked in and after watching your videos going to get the following done....
1,variator cleaned and or weights changed
2, carb cleaned/idle adjusted or original put back
    3,air filter replaced
    4,spark plug replaced

Dirt is not really a problem. If it was there would be a gasket on the clutch/variator cover! The ‘dirt’ is wear from the belt, and clutch. The blades on the variator are to blow or vent dust away from the variator to the outsides of the casing. A speed fight needs 8 gram rollers. That is the key point. Roller size/power ban Ratio. Without variator guides, you get uneven movement, uneven roller wear etc. what did the old rollers look like? Divided?

    • @marksavage
      @marksavage  Před 3 lety +1

The cover has a gasket !
Just ni -on all of them do not get replaced
But yes it's the belt that causes the mess
Some people even grease the rollers
6g is the best all round weight, its what I've used in the 400 speedfights I've worked on !
      Other weight for other mopeds
I used to combi them a few gram here and there for wear and sports systems
      You still need pull away
As for the mess of cause it's a problem bud as it will build up in the system and stop the rollers rolling !
