    Mark,
    I can't thank you enough. I've been using these videos to repair my Speedfight 2 well enough that it past an MOT with flying colours. :)
    I must have saved a fortune on labour, but most importantly, repairing my scooter has become some what of a new passion for me.
    Tomorrow I'll be taking that restriction washer out!
    I liked and subbed a long time ago. :)

    Hi Mark. Fitting 6g rollers tomorrow to a 50cc 2T Neos. I’ve upjetted it to 68 on a 12mm carb. Sports exhaust and a better cylinder and piston. Getting 42mph out of it and I’m 95kg. It just bogs down at 30. Takes ages to pick up and then it’s off. Once it’s running it’s great. Thanks for all your vids. 👍

      If it bogs a little tey 66 or 64 jet as too much fuel can cause that , worth a try or a tune bud

It already had 6g rollers but they all had bad flat spots. Runs great now, pulls away better and did 46mph on gps. Think the clutch is letting it down now.....

    Hey mark on the Aerox there is a thin washer but you need to keep that one as it for the variactor plate back sits inside it . Yes the big ring that the belt sits on known as restrictor throw away makes it faster but can you confirm I'm sure the thin washer on Aerox needs to stay there let me know cheers buddy good videos

      hi that's right if theres one on the other side you can keep that one, on speedfight's you only have one and that's to slow you down but on aerox's you I've seen two before and sometimes you can move it behind but I've always thrown them away . best see what it runs like and make your own mind you bud , and thanks for watching

Soon as it gets going its sound.no other probs, changed everything ,belt ,weights, as i said, but it seems to have started with the change ov the weights and belt..but the revs is just not there when im setting off, clutch dont no, coz if its not reving to pick up obviously its not going to set off good, pal im lost any ideas, the carb pin maybe,

    I've seen it referred to as a Restricter plate. Apart from the weight dose it restrict the full range of the gear (like the washer).

  • @jorda1k
    @jorda1k Před 6 lety

    Hi Mark
    I have been told that when you remove the variator restricter ring on some models eg Yamaha neo Giggle c3 you need to put it behind the variator back plate that holds the rollers in to stop premature belt wear and also to stop the variator front plate from sticking on the shaft and damaging the splines.Could this be the reason the washer was found there on this video.
    Love your videos and they have been a great help to me

    • @marksavage

    I had quite a few scooters and maintained/repaired them all by myself. The Peugeot Speedfight however, is one of the WORST kind you can get as far as we talk service friendly construction..! The air intake...just a pain in the ass to get out so one can get to the carburettor. The sparkplug...for crying out loud, why the fuck do I have to remove the mud cover so I can get a firm grip on the sparkplug..??? Damned..! If they make their cars in a similarly awkward way, I never buy such a piece of shit..!
    Besides all this, it really drives well, when it works.

I've cleaned the carb plenty, and it doesn't make a difference, changed spark plug and it works better but is getting worse again. I've been told it could be the the ignition coil causing miss fire. • @marksavage
      @marksavage  Před 8 lety

      it would depend on what CDI unit you have in the first place, really the only one you can upgrade is the four pin to the right of the battery but I tend to just use the standard one as I guess you are getting 50 plus out of the bike now which is great for a 50cc , if you have put a 70cc kit best put a little 2t oil in with the petrol that should it from seizing as you cant up the oil pump, this is why normally big bore kit's on these only last a few month's !!

    I followed the 4 things and it ended up being the piston- the gaskets were worn.
    Poor compression.
    Bike runs ok now.
    Question - the auto choke has green and yellow wires the are reversed when plugged into connector. Is it necessary to swap them over in the connector to make the choke work properly. Have very poor idle - I wonder if this the problem.

      mark savage hi mark- this bike is doing my head in.
      I couldn't dial in the new carb to increase the idle.
      Bike was running with the throttle open then it died.
      Now it won't start just turns over.
      Fuel in the carb, new spark plug that sparks.
      Could it be the cheap looking carb - I have just bought. It's not a gurtner carb.
      Could it the starter relay
      I am stuck now as it was running sweet

    Mark, the 50cc Speedfighter and 50cc Vivacity... The front forks look exactly the same, are they? I ask because my vivacity storks are seized beyond repair. I've removed them and seen a nice set of Speedfighter forks going that look like an exact match.

      From memory I'm not sure best check on the web but if it's single front arm it should fit ! Are you talking about the whole suspension from head stock to wheel hub ? A front shock for a Speedfight is a little as £25 on w bay and vey easy to change . The whole thing is a bit more work lol , they often seize from the rear bolt maybe wd40 and give it a few turns to undo , hope I've got you right and the info helps , thanks for watching , mark

      +mark “marky bike” savage I've removed my vivacity forks by undoing the nut, slideing out the bold and lifting the handle bars up. Then (without a c-spanner) tapping the two (or was it 3?) round nuts with a screwdriver and hammer. Then the forks just dropped out. The forks, yoke and pole are one piece. Then 'look' exactly the same as a Speedfighter forks I looking at. I guess I'm asking is the poll that you attach the handle bars too the same size. Oh and the break calliper fixings?

    Hey mark i have a question. My speedfight 2 50cc lc only sometimes stalls when it goes back to idle. It does idle but then when i give it some trottle it dies out. I have already cleaned the carb twice, the petcock and the float still work propperly an i have cleaned the air filter and changed the spark plug. I also checked for air leaks but none. Could it be a electrical problem or do you have any other suggestions?

    • @marksavage
      @marksavage  Před 4 lety

      ive had this many times and it just comes down to the carb getting old, they just seem to have funny little ways its odd but the do
      they can get micro fractures or just worn
      when you cleaned it did you take both jets out ? can you get the idle jet out ? how it the float needle as they too can wear / stick
      you checked the fuel and air pipe and they are both soft and tight , vacuum is fine not too much over run
      reed ok ?
      it might not be stalling due to low fuel it can be too much too as is flooding!
      if it is running well ,starting and stopping ok and only a odd time stalling it would only be carb but guessing you already changed the plug and new air filter and took out the air mix and cleaned there too?
      id go over it all again and see how it is after

    • @tamastenhaaff2291
      @tamastenhaaff2291 Před 4 lety +1

      mark savage yes i cleaned out both jets and the rest of the carberator twice the float moves freely and stops the fuel when you push it up. I also have already replaced all the hoses that go to the carb end i did install them correcly. The wierd thing is that it only does it sometimes. Sometimes it just drives away normaly and sometimes it bogs. When it does bog i can start it right after and it drives away normaly. That's a original Speedfight variator , most people leave off that thin plate with the 3 screws in as you don't need it and it's less weight lol , if you buy a sports one they don't come with that cover , I think in one of my early videos I talk about it or show one , mark

    • @marksavage
      @marksavage  Před 7 lety

      you say it broke down after a long ride?, did you get much more speed out of it.if so you may have made it dry seize as the piston would have moved a lot faster than normal and this is common. use good 2t oil from now on but I'd be checking the piston / replace as in my other videos on changing the piston. you don't always need to up jet after changing the exhaust if it runs well. it's an easy job and it may have been on it's way out so don't feel bad bud . hope that helps please like share and subscribe , mark

    Hi mark, changed my rollers and clutch springs tonight. was recommended 3.5g rollers medium strength clutch springs and a 68 jet from ped parts uk to work with my stage 6 pro rep exhaust on my yamaha aerox. i installed everything they recommended me to get, but my bike still takes ages to pull away, it still doesn't kick the power in properly untill it gets to 32mph which is when its starts to rev, anything you could suggest ?

    • @marksavage
      @marksavage  Před 6 lety

      3.5 roller wow thats light!
      so ok you have a sport exhaust, race air filter 68 jet, new belt and clutch , variator and 3.5g roller, have you tuned the carb too like in my videos
      3.5g rollers you should pull away like a bat out of hell but no top end so odd
      go back to the carb and de jet it down in 4s and tune and see how it goes

      The scooter has stood for a while, I had to take the fuel tank off as it had an ingress of water as it had stood for some time.
      I replaced the carb after clearing the fuel system out and replacing the fuel filter.
      It starts the first time but bogs down, a neighbor had said that she could smell petrol.. so after checking, I have found that petrol is pouring out of the overflow pipe. there is a knocking whilst the engine is running and when I checked the oil dipstick, it appears to be no oil but feeling a trace of something, and melling and then tasting, it seems to be petrol??? I am not 100% on this.
      The scooter is a Sym Shark 125 jet 4 V
      The scooter runs lovely on tick over/idle but will not rev, I can not even accelerate to get the scooter up the drive, I have to push it. I have videos but don't know how to upload for you to see

      hi chris it's a game of whats best for the bike but 84 not a bad place to start, you can get a jet kit from 70 to 90, have you upgraded the air filter as you will also need more air. I would recommend you put a little 2t oil in with the petrol as the standard oil pump will be set up for a 50cc , hope that helps bud and thanks for watching please like share and subscribe , mark

      Check fuel pipes
      Than check spark like in my video
