ANC disable (Disable Active Noise Canceling) 2019+ Ram 1500 Rebel (Chrysler Jeep Dodge info)

  • Active Noise Cancelling, or ANC for short, is available in many Jeep, Dodge Ram vehicles. Microphones throughout the cabin pick up undesirable sounds, and the ANC module plays soundwaves through the speakers in an attempt to cancel these sounds.
    When adding an amplifier or, in my case, speakers with a broader sound range, the Ram’s Active Noice Cancelling sound waves become loud, audible Bass drone that makes the vehicle undrivable. Shutting off the radio does not stop the sounds as it’s a separate system.
    This video will walk you through disabling the 2019 Ram ANC by de-pining the connector that holds the microphone wires. Once you remove the four positive microphone wires, Active Noise canceling is disabled, and the annoying bass drone goes away. I also cover the other option of using the PAC Factory ANC Module Bypass Harness for Select Chrysler, Jeep, and Ram Vehicles. This Active Noise Cancelling bypass harness quickly installs in less than 2 minutes in most cases.
    IMPORTANT NOTE: After disabling the Active Noise Cancelling in my 2019 Ram Rebel, I Do NOT notice any difference in cabin noise. ANC Disable also DOES NOT impact the noise canceling in your phone calls. A different system handles Noise Canceling for mobile calls.

    Wish i could double thumbs up this. Upgraded speakers in my 2019 "alpine" Ram to Infinity and the droning was DEAFENING. Had to tape the mics in the cabin and hit them every 30 seconds to stop it. What a stupid system. Should be a on/off in the radios menu.

    Thanks for putting this up. I have a 2023 ram 3500 with base stereo and I upgraded to 6 channel and sub amp. The connector you pulled the pins from looks just like one on what I thought was the factory amp in my truck. I had horrible feed back. Mine was located to the drivers side of the steering column and it had the same four wires. I depinned all four and problem solved. Thanks.

I figured I'd at least listen to the new speakers to see if I needed the bypass harness before I just plugged it in. I was expecting to hear the bad sound but I got nothing bad at all. It sounds great and I have the same underseat setup you have. (I have 2021 ram non amplified no sub system).

    I did the same Infinity Reference speaker swap and did not experience the drone/distortion you did. From what I've seen online the ANC is very sensitive to speakers being out of phase after a swap if you use wire harnesses that have polarity swapped. Not sure if that's what happened with your install, but some harnesses are manufactured with reverse polarity.
    That being said, I have a ANC bypass harness arriving tomorrow to delete the ANC because I don't like artificial sound coming through my speakers even if it's working correctly. The Infinity Reference speakers are crazy bright though and don't produce much bass at all so the bypass harness also gives me a cleaner way to tap into the high level speaker wires for an amp.

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  Před rokem

      Agreed the reference speakers have a button on the tweeters to tone down the brightness.
      Also the anc bypass delivers clean sound to my DSP so I’m able to tune balance it out to sound good with my sub

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  Před rokem

      Correct, if you pull the pins and tape them off that will work.
      The harness serves two purposes
      1. Easier to just connect without pulling pins from the connector.
      2. You can cut the harness wires in the designated spots to run the speaker output to your add on amplifier then reroute the amplified sound back to the speakers.
      Allows you to modify without touching your factory wiring.

      Yep in my current setup I have a pac harness that splits off the speaker wires. The go out to my DSP and amp then back from the amp and out to the factory speakers. Check my video for details vm.tiktok.com/TTPdremhVa/

    That noise is meant to silence the engine

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  Před rokem

      yes the use microphones throughout the truck to perform active noise cancelling and the factory speakers are set so they don't play the sound. when you get wider range speakers the noise is now audible. The funny part is there was no noticeable difference in road noise and I flipped it on and off a few times.
      I'm guessing since the rebel and it;s knobby tires are inherently noisy the ANC may be more effective in the other trim levels.
