- We test out the all new JMS pedal max for the 2019 Ram and see how it removes the throttle lag from the drive by wire system that limits the throttle response and now allows you to control the speed the throttle opens and unleash the power the factory doesn't want you to have with this hidden power mod.

The PedalMax sure looks like an awesome mod. Congrats
thanks I turned it off today just to see if i needed it on all the time and turned it back on about 30 seconds later love this product
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow with Olde Carr Auto Guy.
America: Bumper to Bumper sounds good
I have jsm on my duramax will never own a car without it from now on
Can this work in conjunction with the pulsar from Diablo?
I so just bought this for my 2020 RAM 😁 I totally notice the delay at a dead stop. I'm gonna enjoy this 🤙
Awesome performance upgrade for sure!!
I had my PCU sent out 6 checks 3 on the engine 3 on the transmission, S & B cold air and turned. Freaking amazing.
I love the new interiors in the dodges
Keep that Hammerdown!!!! Cant wait for the mod coming on monday!
Change in throttle response is nice. I would suggest using the Pulsar tuner box. In line tuner that when removed the dealer can’t see it.
Any new mods! I appreciate your videos 🙌🏾 my new 2021 is so much fun now!
What an awesome mod! I installed it today and cant believe how much quicker the truck is. I highly recommend it.
Roland Pelletier see so much better love that thing thanks JMS
Duuuude!! This thing is awesome!! Just ordered, received and installed into my 2020 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi. What a difference!!! You have help me unleash the BEAST!!!! Frickin LOVE IT!! Thanks again for the video! #HEMIPOWER
Did you really just put a hashtag here?
Great video man. I need to come up for another ride with the new mod!
I feel ya'! When I upgraded my intake and exhaust and tuned it, I was like a big kid! Oh, I still am!
What tune?
@@kylershirley5444 Superchips!
You can change the throttle response in the ecm itself if you dont mind voiding warranty lol. Its a cool little tool for those who want to leave the ecm alone.
Hey Steve, thanks for the video on the PedalMax. I was skeptical about this product working like you say it does. I just put mine in today on my new 2020 Ram Rebel and took it for a spin and I am now a believer. Boy did it open up those 400hp ponies. Yes guy's it works as he says it does. Beats paying big bucks for a Diablo tuner any day. You got yourself another subscriber. Thanks, Rob
Robert Alexander awesome i am glad you love it like I knew you would, I wouldn’t tell people about it unless it was worth it thanks for your comment
I installed mine and all the warning lights came on? I disconnected the battery before installing too. Check engine, traction control disabled, tow haul disabled.. what gives lol? 2020 ram rebel.
Dane hmmm I have done 2 of these in new rams with no issues and didn’t disconnect the battery at my own risk make sure all the plugs are seated if they are I’d contact JMS
I agree with Steve, I have had mine in for over a month now without one issue. Try unplugging from the pedal again and reinstall. If doesn't help call JMS.
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA yeah will do thanks
Just bought a ‘19 ram 1500 classic bighorn 5.7. So far I’m lovin it !! Glad to see another PA guy doing his thing 😎. If you ever make your way towards Bethlehem let me know !!
Mike W. Thanks yeah I hoped to be around lots this year but good old China put a wrench in that one lol
Hammerdown Motorsports yeah I hear ya . I am trying to add on to the truck but I end up waiting weeks to be told “ it’s on back order “ 😖
gotta do some maintenance on mine, after im done Ill be installing next
Love your site and have a Laramie limited 2020 because you spoke so highly and I freaking love it. What muffler do I get so it sounds like your old one?
It's the same thing is the pedal commander. Set it just opens the throttle plate more then what the factory setting is I think it's definitely worth it.
Does not add any power, but does clean up and fine tune the throttle response. I own the pedal commander, and it works awesome. You will pay much more for a programmer, which will only add minimal hp/tq at the very least.
How long have u had PC? I had mine 1 1/2 years when it completely malfunctioned and had to be removed so my throttle would work again
are you in 4X4 or is traction control worse In the new ones? my bone stock 2016 blows the tires off if I floor it from a dead stop.
The joy on his face haha
Great product after your recommendation after the Camaro vid I picked one up for my grand sport and wow what a difference. I skipped the knob install so it stays set on 60% automatically. Thanks for the review
'95 Ram is getting there. 😎
Great video again. :)
That gap between the grille and bumper i think could be fixed if you get the sports grille , not entirely sure but thats what i have heard from people who swap out for the 4th gen bumper
Skip the pedalmax and go straight for the Edge Pulsar.
Power levels adjust pedal sensitivity, they're adjustable on the fly with your cruise buttons without stopping, and it's dyno proven for around 30hp to the wheels. I get 1-2 mpg better pulling my RV as well.
Plus, it doesn't require unlocking your PCM, and when you take it in to the dealer it comes out with 2 bolts in about 5-10 minutes. As it simply manipulates what goes in/out of the computer you can remove it and send the truck in and the dealer has readings to look at (vs. no history when you take out your tune and put the factory back in) and therefore has no idea you have a programmer.
I don't work for any of these companies, just a happy customer who wasted money on a pedal commander then bought the programmer and enjoyed a legit gain in performance instead of a placebo.
Excel video - thank you!
Luv this mod, definitely gonna add it on to my Rebel!! Great job again with your videos Mr Hammerdown!! Any idea if it messes with your warranty?
Thanks for watching no worries with warranty if you end up having an engine issue you can always remove it and there is no way they would know it was installed just to remove the blame game from the equation
Hey I know this is a bit late and I’ve seen you changed trucks but I’ve wanted to know your final impressions of owning the pedal max and if I should get it installed on my truck. Does it hurt or decrease engine life in any way and is there anything I should know about. Really like the idea of reduced throttle lag because the 5.7 hemi on rams do have quite a bit delay when hitting the throttle even for 4wd so should I be fine to get it or should I not
An interested effect, if you're driving, and turn this on, it feels like the throttle pedal loses resistance. It's made me hold off on a tuner/unlocked PCM package.
the delay is directly from a dead stop so this is helpful in a way
So I know little about this stuff but would this bypass or disable the speed limiter?
I timed the 0-60 on the video (four times each) with and without the pedalmax, Without it the truck averaged 7.04 seconds 0-60, and with it the truck averaged 7.48! What I noticed in the video is that with the pedalmax there was a lag in the speed increasing right around 50 mph. That could have been a driver variance. I put one of these in my '14 Ram, and it was fun for a couple weeks, but after that, I took it out because my mileage significantly went down (yes I could have reduced the percentage, but I found myself liking it too much). I now have a '21 Ram, and the factory did somewhat address this issue, but there is still a significant lag when passing. What I do now is, if I think I'm going to pass, I just blip the gas pedal, which causes the transmission to downshift a couple gears so when I do you get on it there's not as much delay.
Subbed to the channel because I love learning about mods. Looking into a 2019 limited early next year. Can the videos include if warranty is voided with each mod? That would be super helpful
Nate Skinner welcome to the channel and my plan with this build is all bolt on accessories that will have no affect on warranty, mine has a lifetime power train warranty and I’d like to keep that in tact for sure
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA awesome! I'll keep that in mind moving forward too.
Knowing FAC and the service dept if they were to find out about that mod it would indeed void the warrantee. Vehicle manufacturers these days frown upon that unless its done in house and its approved. Looks like a great mod and adds more fun!
Certian brands will throw you in limp mode.
What did you use on that bumper?? Can you use this on the frame? I want to pre treat my frame, living in PA the salt kills these trucks! I have a brand new 21 1500 and what to protect underneath soon!
I’m curious what your peak coolant temperature got up to when you were flooring it
Great video
Neat product 👍
You can gear limit to keep the truck in 8cyl, gets rid of the MDS delay
Just found video good information Do you think they have this mod for a 2017 ram 1500
What's the difference between that and pedal commander ?
Great video as usual! I may have to get the hidden power mod for mine as well. What’s the difference from 0-60 compared to stock?
I haven't measured it yet but will have to try it our at the track soon
My 2019 RAM 1500 V8 4x4 CCab has the same issue...a delayed response to the pedal in acceleration. Not just that, while driving, say between 40-50 and the traffic opens up and if it is a freeway, I push the pedal, not quite flooring, but I have some 2-3 seconds delay before I see the acceleration. So, as you described, will this JMS Pedal-Max do the magic trick on mine, or is it just a myth?
Also, I would like for you to make a detailed video of BorgWarner 44x44 and BorgWarner 44x45 systems of RAM and how DOdge lied to the customers on BW44x44 and calling it 4x4, which is not the case because it is a wet clutch concept. The only true 4x4 is BW44x45.
Thank you for the performance enhancement tip!
Question: Larger cool-air intake. Have you tested or know the impact of replacing the current air intake for a larger & cooled one on the new Ram 1500?
Lucas Beradi I haven’t got my cold air intake since it is still in development but as soon as I get it there will be a video on it should be early 2020
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA Thanks for answering!
@@YTLuc absolutely
If it has the 5.7 Hemi V8 ...to make it go faster. Try changing out the stock intake to a 392 intake plus born out the head says inquire to do out the intake Plus installing two double turbos
6 grand will make it faster.. lol
I have a 2019 Ram Classic but it’s the older body style. Will that mod work on my truck???
If you turn off traction control it will smoke the tires. Mine will bone stock
yes ... Spot mode is --> Turn off Traction Control and turn on towing ... it makes the trans pop a little harder
I hate that delay in my 19 big horn, my 17 rebel was instant. I wonder how your truck is now 1 year later
Can you shift on the fly or will that damage the vehicle?
How much is the Jmax and is it available in canada?
I agree with the one’s that say it doesn’t add power. I had the Pedal Commander for a month or two. I tried all positions and actually preferred stock. Especially after the day I went to the stored and the unit failed. Most of the ride was below 40 mph neighborhoods, and about 1/2 mile of 55mph. It wasn’t till this stretch that I realized I had no throttle control. The truck would just keep speeding up till I hit the brake without ever touching the throttle. In park it idled fine. Put it in gear and it took off. Not fast but just kept going faster and faster till I hit the brake. Remove the unit and the truck is fine. Then I had to go in and clear all the codes and lights it set.
Tom Wise should have gone with the pedal max
I’ll just leave it be. I’ve outgrown most of that.
Yes I had similar problems with pedal commander! Dangerous! And company wouldn't return my messages
@@jayhopkins1337 all I really saw that it did was make the throttle more sensitive. Kinda like changing the cam on a carb. Did make it fast, take off better, this wasn’t a performance upgrade. Max throttle was still the same. Till it wasn’t and killed the throttle all together!
I feel like this would fuck with the eTorque models since the eTorque performs the half tire rotation from a dead stop before the engine kicks in.
I have the s type borla on my 19 longhorn... this upgrade might help me scare my neighbors easier lmao
The etorque accelerate like that. I have a 19 Hemi with no e-torque and an instantly roast the tires through first and second gear
I bought one of these for my Chevy Aveo. Now I can get tire chirp going into third gear! Very exciting
And how much will this cost me to buy?
Food for thought: That lag in response on the newer generation RAM is built in there by the engineers. What the lag does is signal the 8spd Aisin transmission to start circulating more fluid before accelerating. This protects that expensive transmission.
This is a ZF 8 speed not an Aisin and what you are saying is nonsense.
I love America not aisin
😂
This escalated quick.
@@charlesmarshall2697 same ZF8 in the Audi? Lol
I've been thinking about getting one for my new 2019 ram but I don't wanna void the warranty does the jms void warranties or is it okay to put on
James pas to void a warranty it has to be directly related to what you added and if you do have an issue you can remove it in 5 minutes there is no way for a dealer to know it was there and try and blame it for anything
Having a 19 Laramie it is odd yours doesn’t spin the tires. Mine will light up without trying. Also I have the 6.5 foot bed. Which has an extra feet of length between the tires. That might be a factor
Great video and explanation man ✌🏻✌🏻. The Hemi is real nice , but I love how my 2019 Pentastar revs at 6700 rpm and its got a good pep to it. I raced a friend of mine with a 2017 Silverado 5.3l of the line and I had him for about 4 cars , but eventually he caught up with me 😂😂.
@Chad Guess funny guy 😁😁
@Chad Guess Absolulety 😂😂
so, does it just change the throttle angle ratio to the computer? So, 20% angle changes to 30% or more depending on the adjustment? WOT is still WOT or does that come on earlier too? Like a condensed angle sensor?
from what I understand it comes on faster and WOT is open more than stock
Any warranty issues with installing this?
Exelent mod thank u
When i floor my 10,it makes a swish sound and takes off like a icbm 😼.
Whats the jms part # pedalmax with control knob included for 2020 ram laramie .
What is the difference between the pedal max and a pedal commander?
Hey thanks for the info. Will you have to unhook this every time you go in for service. Thanks anxious to see more mods.. please help us Ram 1500 owners. We need you..
You might need to something like this could void a warranty
IS THIS ON AN E-TORQUE ENGINE ?. DOES IT WORK WITH THE E-TORQUE ?
Banks just came out with the Pedal Monster. No crazy code if you bump the wire, it will default to the standard code. They also have the power draw on the connector figured out.
Yes, the Pedal Monster seems far more superior and almost the same price.
So I’m late to the party but I have the pedal monster and it’s amazing
Great video. I love my 2019 bighorn black out....I had to trade my 18 camaro as for. Worth. Needs more power. Do you have 3.21 or 3.92?
Damian Collum honestly I’d have to check my window sticker to be sure
I have a 2020 ram 1500 with 3.21 it’s fast but I drove a 2019 ram 1500 with 3.92 that shit was faster and you feel all that Hemi
many power
That throttle delay is annoying and I would even say dangerous. When I got my truck I noticed myself giving more pedal off the line because it wasn’t moving right away but then I get more throttle than I wanted.
East Texas here. 80-95% humidity at 90-105 degrees 🥵🥵🥵
i just hooked this up to my truck. and my back up camera stopped working. any ideas ?
yeah... i hate that mine goes into nanny mode. My 245HP 360 Duster can easily out accelerate this 395hp thing.
k.. I'm convinced where do I get one?
I know those are factory OEM 22 inch. But is there a name for them?
I timed both 0-60 mph and they are both 6.56 seconds in response > so I thought maybe the delay was around 25 mph so I timed both @ 0-40 mph and same time on both @ 3.65
I timed them too, so now I’m questioning if its worth it

Was there wheelspin afterwards? Watching the time stamp, your 0-60 is actually slower after the install.

Will the peddle max still work with my tuner?
The pedal boostermaxcommander works by altering the signal that is being sent to the ecu of the vehicle. Most stock vehicles give you a 1 to 1 ratio oh how far you press the pedal and how far the throttle body opens. Press the pedal half way and throttle body opens half way, just like the old throttle by cable systems. However because this is electronic, manufactures added in things like torque management, or clutch protection for smoother acceleration. These things make it feel like the throttle body is opening slower than the throttle press many times, and thats exactly whats happening. This product installs right between the pedal and ecu and intercepts the signal. It then increases the signal and sends it to the ecu. For example if you press the pedal half way, the throttle body opens three quarters of the way. But because the product is installed before the ecu, the ecu will still add in torque management and slow down the speed at which your throttle body opens. This is why this product is warranty safe as well, it doesnt tamper with any ecu settings. Your ecu just things youre pressing the pedal down further than you are, which brings me to the point, dont waste your money, just press the pedal down faster and further. Also, these products all do the same thing and are very simple and over priced. I think at 20 dollars it would be a great product. RC radios now days come with more complex version of this product for 40 bucks. But you get to map out your exact throttle press on a visual graph. Also, any car or truck with sport mode increases the throttle sensitivity, and its already built in and free. The true and only way to get rid of a slow, gradual opening throttle body is to simply tune.
but the PedalMax opens it faster and 7 degrees more
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA What Sergey is saying makes a lot of sense. Are you claiming that this device exceeds the limits of the pedal? Like, assuming stock pedal has a max throttle open speed of X at WOT when the pedal is floored. This device can exceed that speed by some percent? And 7 degrees more than what? If it is 7 degrees more than where the throttle is open at any point on stock pedal travel, then you are proving Sergey's point that simply pressing the stock pedal more or faster would achieve the same goal. Not trying to be dismissive of the product, it just seems more like a throttle input adjuster than something that would release power. For that, like Sergey said, you would need to tune the ECU.
jed92y I mean obviously I did not invest this product but from my understanding it allows the throttle to open faster and open 7 degrees more than stock so pressing the pedal to the floor there is a delay and this will eliminate that by intercepting the output from the ecu and amplifying the signal to the throttle body motor causing it to open faster than stock in turn giving you control over throttle lag and the difference is very noticeable
Do they make one to fit my 2020 Power Wagon?
@hammerdown Motorsports
Does this cause any damage to the transmission long term?
By installing this would it affect the warranty? I Like man and good video as usual partner
Ram Rider as always with mods that’s a case to case question but it doesn’t change the factory settings so I’m pretty sure if you removed it they wouldn’t know it was ever there
Thanks for watching
Hammerdown Motorsports Always love watching ya. Keep it up.
Not doubting the seat of the pants feel that is obviously better than stock by your laughter but according to the zero to 60 times on your video, they are exactly 7 seconds on the before ( 3.32 - 3.39 ), and on the after ( 9.18 - 9.25 ) so I'm wondering if this is really much of an advantage. This was a couple of years ago now so I am wondering if this has remained a good choice and would you still recommend it? I have a brand new 2021 Ram 1500 and I am considering this. Any input would be great, thanks.
I am still enjoying the pedal max if you turn it off you really see how much it does from stock
Would this void the warranty?
Nice ! Now try it with your traction control off
does this mess with the warranty at all?
no issues with it since?
no codes thrown?
Does it matter if you have the E torque version and would this void your warranty? I have a 2020 Laramie.
Dr. Drake Ramoray I don’t believe it makes a difference
So your 2019 won't spin the tires? V6? My 2018 5.7 will cook the tires without anything even with the "traction control " on. That doesn't work when both wheels break free off the line.
Would this void a warranty you think?
I wonder why all these Rams trucks don't have alt gauge and oil pressure gauge in their cluster like my 2019 Ram does.
15 miles per gallon?
My 2021 is getting like 11.5 & that's driving the speed limit everywhere. Wonder why?
i need to upgrade !
Hammer down did u install p max on Rebel?
Hondo sure did
When are you gonna do some mods that with actually get it not to be a slug?
It doesn't add any horsepower just changes throttle response. Why do people not understand that?
What's difficult to understand? By asking for more throttle response you are getting more power to the ground. Hence the hidden power as you don't get this stock. He didn't say you are MAKING more power.
@@MrComputerCoder Pressing the pedal down faster does exactly the same thing.
@@sergeysmelnik I don't think you understand what it's actually doing. You can do that stock but it doesn't mean it responds faster and is as aggressive.
Adding these pedal commander type mods do both and considerably increases acceleration and speed.
Not difficult to use your head and think about it.
@@MrComputerCoder No sir you are the one who doesnt understand how it works, I wrote a comment in this video explaining it. This product doesnt affect the ecu, which is why its warranty safe. The ecu is what slows down the throttle body opening speed. The throttle body only sees the input from the ecu, not the throttle pedal. Therefore no matter what you install on the throttle pedal it will never change the way the ecu interacts with your throttle body. All this thing does is change the signal from pedal to ecu. You press down 20 percent but with this product the ecu is seeing 30 percent for example. This product cant get rid of torque management and other nannies that try to save the drive train. You literally can press your pedal down faster and further and do exactly what this product does. There is no "lag" in an electronic system like this. It does absolutely zero for acceleration and speed.
@@sergeysmelnik ironically it still let's you accelerate faster lol 😂
I know the reasoning. Don't care what you say it makes it faster.
Honestly not hard to do a simple Google search to find results.
You should have a side to side comparison. With and without the pedal max from 0-60
They wont do that cause then you will really see what you get for $300!
@@zash008 so basically nothing, I'm assuming? Cuz it doesn't add hp, it just make throttle response better, right?......or am I wrong? Lol
@@xmarksthespot4617 pretty much. So the throttle is all electronic now, no physical connection between the pedal and throttle body. Just an electric signal telling the throttle body to open, and how far to open. This, and many others exactly like it, take that signal and boost it. So if you barely press the pedal for normal take off from a stop, your throttle body might open 20%. This would take your same input but change it from 20% to 40% or something. Give you the illusion you’re gaining power when it’s just the same as if you push the pedal to 40% yourself. Wide open throttle is still 100% with or without this module. It’s a gimmick. If you want the throttle to be more “responsive” just stand on the pedal lol
@@heklyr3370 that’s exactly what i was thinking. Thanks for the reply.
