    Davie; this was top draw tutorial again ,,,
    I have never used these patters / range flies on the rivers & decided to do it next season if you can make a compensation like you did with the dynamite harry & other dry flies it would be great Davie
    Thank you - you might even show a fishing day using them
    Cheers Steve

    As always lovely pattern davie. I would like to share a little story about a pattern like this a few years ago I got a pattern from the late rod tye I met him on the sure of loughmask it was 26th April 2003 he gave me a few flys he called fuzzies only difference was the rib on he's on was flexible body . Me being a wet fly fishermen I didn't think to much of them at the time being polite i took some from him i thought to myself is he having a bit of fun with me
    anyway the next day the fish were feeding hard around the boat and no fish the same as the day before i tough for the fun I'll try the fuzzies
    6 cracking fish days like this you never forget . Davie thanks very much for sharing

    Love this fly Davie. Would look amazing on a F35060 hook and a wee bit smaller say size 16 or 18? Size 10 is a bit big for midges in my area. Anyway love the work. Sorry that you have a cold. Hope you feel better. John

    Hola Davie, he regresado de pescar en los lagos del sur nuestro, días soñados, un solo día de una sola pieza, todos los demás días de 2,3 y 4 truchas, como dice el reglamento, dos para comer, el resto devolución, lo más curioso, una trucha subió a morder una mosca que había dejado en la orilla frente a mi, mientras sacaba línea del reel, de apurado le saqué la misca de la boca, volví a tirarle la mosca en el acto, y volvió a intentar tomarla, volví a sacársela de la boca, por tercera vez azoté el agua con el señuelo, se dio la vuelta y volvió a encararla esta vez furiosa, de semejante embestida, le quedó la mosca detrás de las agallas.-

    Very nice Davie, I'll be tying up a few of these. I always keep an eye on what scissors you're using. You had the Tiemco, then the Loon and now...Dr Slick Razor? If so, how do you find them...whatever brand you're using at present.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Slick Roode,
      It's a nice pattern and I'm sure you will catch well on it...I have worn out my Loon Razor Scissors so I bought a pair off eBay and they are fine. I looked in my bottom drawer where I put my old scissors in and it may be worth while taking them to the scrappies as I have a few worn out pairs that go back a few years...
      All the very best Davie..

      Davie McPhail in an effort to halt the amount I spend
      on scissors...under a recommendation from a guy who sharpens knives for living, I bought a 3000/8000 grit wet stone for sharpening. Very cheap, £30 on ebay, and works extremely well. With a little patience and practice scissors can be brought back to almost a factory edge.

      Davie McPhail yeah i live in northern ireland. mostly nymphs and small dry fly and spider patterns for river fishing. ive bought one or two kits and they were great but none came with cock or hen hackle that were any use. far too large.

      @DavieMcPhail  Před 6 lety

      Hi Graig,
      It can be fished in many ways and just as you described though I like to fish this fly in the middle or top dropper with a normal buzzer on the point as I've always done well with it when it's closer to the surface..I'm slowly getting better thank you, it's just one of those colds that seems to be going away and it comes back again, thank you for your kind wishes...
      All the very best Davie..

      @DavieMcPhail  Před 6 lety

      Hi Pierre Poulin,
      I use a 4 inch Razor Scissor. Loon sell a very good pair as I had been using one for more than a year until I dropped it on the floor and broke the points so I bough the pair you see off Ebay for £11.99 and I'm happy with them but I have only been using them for the last week so time will tell how long they will last..Dr Slick also sell a Razor scissor and worth looking at as well..
      All the very best from Scotland...

      Remember, it's not just about the amount of years you've been tying; how many flies you've tied (and the variety of patterns) is a better indication of experience. I started in 1977, when I was six (those flies were crude, to say the least). I started selling a few in 1981. That would seem to indicate that I would at least match Davie in proficiency, which is not hardly the case. If I had to guess, I would say that I have tied less than 15,000 flies in my lifetime. How many have you tied, Davie? It's alright to round your guesstimate to the nearest, say, 5,000 or so.
