    Did enjoy it, Davie... and the tarpon fly tie before it too. Thank you for both. When the weather breaks (getting some snow in Rocky Mtns., Wyoming right now), I'm going to head down to my river, do some wading and casting around the fast ice and snow covered boulders and see if I can have a nice day. I'm betting I can... =]

    Great little midge mate. The trout and brookies would kill for that in a heartbeat and that would also be a good one to try for bluegills. Thank you for sharing another great pattern to have in your fly box. 🐟🐟 Best Regards, Ken

      I bet a tobacco brown, or slate blue would be great colors. And of course you couldn't go wrong w black and a bit of bright green for an egg sack. The possibility is endless w this pattern. Def gonna tie up a half dozen of a half dozen different color combinations. Sorry to piggie back on your comment brother
      Best of luck and tight lines

    That exact pattern with 2 maggots would work very good for ice fishing here in Montana, for trout, or our small Silver Salmon strain. I think I'll tie it with short little wing buds instead of an adult.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Peter,
      I like to fish it with other flies and I would normally put this fly on the middle dropper or even the top dropper keeping it close to the surface..It is a good fly though and can be fished where you would like it to be...

      Hi Jim,
      This is a good version so change the thread to white, black pheasant tail on the body and black seals fur on the thorax with same orange floss and then a black hackle and everything else is the same...

      Peacock herl would be fine but you could just use some dubbing or just tye the fly with an olive thread as it does work just as well.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Před 4 lety

      Hi Dominique,
      I like to fish this fly on a cast of two or three flies and this one fishes well on the middle or top dropper, I would normally use a floating line but I am happy to use a sinking line as well to find the depth the fish are feeding at...I'm glad you liked the fly..
