I think they're both incredibly funny. I watched Ricky's latest stand-up show and thought it was one of the best stand-up shows I'd ever seen. It was brutally funny. And I've never been that impressed by his stand-up until fairly recently. His TV shows have been far too sentimental since he stopped writing with Steve, but they still have moments of true brilliance. But I do agree that Steve's hugely underrated. He's the best thing about Extras and together they wrote some of the greatest comedy ever made, with moments of heartbreak and drama that were genuinely affecting. And I don't like the weird hatred that Karl's stupidest fans have for Steve. They have this weird dislike for Steve because they think Karl and him didn't get along, or something like that. Also it's a class thing, because Steve's a fairly introverted, middle-class guy, while Karl's a sort of avatar for working class morons(even though Karl's clearly an extremely sharp guy). Some of Karl's fans remind me of the kind of people who watched Al Murray's pub landlord and agreed with everything he said, never once getting the joke, never once understanding that the character was meant to be ridiculous. I'm a huge fan of Karl but like Bill Burr, Al Murray, etc he attracts a lot of fuckwits in his fandom.
Cows are no joke if they've got calfs in the field with them. I ended up hanging from a barb wire fence by my legs for 20 minutes trying to get away from some angry cows that my dog barked at. Swarmed after me. Lost a shoe in the deep mud running off from the bulls and tried to climb the perimeter fence in my muddy sock, slipped and ended up hung with my full weight on my hamstrings by a double layer of barb wire until someone heard my screaming and cut me free. Shit day. Steak tonight.:)
I know! The podcast material they animated was funny enough, but not on the same level as the XFM stuff :) I'm sure they would have animated some of that material as well if it weren't for the poor audio quality...
6:30 listen to the way he says "bought a card....." It's the exact same way that he says the word "but" when hes speaking, he over pronounces the shit out the word "but" when hes telling a story and hes stammering somewhat
i would fucking love to spend a day with Karl doing all sorts of crazy shit, right by his side. Then i would want to sit in the same room while he explains the day's events to Ricky and Steve....Just so i could sit there and be blown away by the entirely different story he spits out about what happened that day....his recollection of facts/events are so fucking skewed into the realm of cartoon and fiction, which is literally the opposite of the way you're supposed to tell a story. He forgets the most important parts of stories such as motivation/causation or anything that ties a story together with logic. He just spews out ridiculousness through his mental filter that is pretty much backwards, or that of a 6 year old child with autism.
Bbfishman I think you've missed the point in why Ricky and Steve love him so much, he's got thoughts and idea's that nobody else does, especially not you...

Steve is far more funny in a clever way than Ricky I love Ricky but it's not right how he takes the credit for the work they did together.
