And once they're no longer speechless-assuming they end up liking me-they love the way I'll always already know the gist of what they're going to say when I ask them questions, but I still ask out of a genuine desire to hear their answers in their own words & to get a feel for their emotions.

@@bartoszowczarski8621 I've written a book that will be released soon on Amazon. Here's the basic idea. Tell me what you think:
      1. Happiness is the implicit meaning of life because everything we do is ultimately for some form of happiness.
      2. There are two categories of happiness-being and doing.
      3. But society promotes only doing, and so we become dependent on doing.
      4. Consequently, failure creates guilt, and success becomes stale.
      5. The remedy is to understand how being is obscured.
      6. Then we see the need to end illusion in the world, which is the same as creating a utopia.
      7. This goal is easy because we only need to stay in touch with the innate goodwill of being.
      8. The outcome would be a world where doing optimally augments being.

    • @bartoszowczarski8621
      @bartoszowczarski8621 Před 5 lety +35

@@worldwidehappiness Thanks for the answer ^^. I will put my thoughts in points according to your points:
      1. Absolutely agree. We we're made that way by the process of evolution. Happiness is the absolute driving factor in our bodies. If u suddenly take happiness out of us for prolonged period of time we would simply disappear in a long run. Different story is to make this change in a prolonged period, slowly cutting on the happiness and changing it for something else (as driving factor). But I'm not sure this is possible.
      2. Can you please explain? I'm not sure I understand the difference between being and doing happiness. If I for example make myself cup of hot chocolate, and drink it whole making me very comfortable and happy by the feel of my hot insides, wouldn't it mean that I "did" something that led to me "be" happy?
I'm not sure if I should make another point, because if I really don't understand something then me making another point is simply useless, and this can lead to several misunderstandings. See you soon, hopefully. Don't die. My conversation with you so far has been very interesting.

I think there’s this big misconception than INTPS can’t understand emotion(s). I think INTPS can be very good at this if we put time into it like so many other things. We can easily break it down to what action causes what reaction and pick and choose along with our intuition the best action for the reaction we want. We can begin to understand what others want and why as we know what we want and why often. Simply by using psychology and logical primitive constructs we can break down conversations and become very socially adept introverts.

I totally agree. We have our own unique way of understanding emotions and that's what this guy in the video was getting at when talking about INTPs' interest in personality type.
Though I do wonder if we are "authentically" understanding emotion, seeing how we are still viewing it in a very Ti way.
I think some difficulty remains even if you can accurately predict people's reactions to different situations and different stimuli. Not necessarily in being aware when someone will react in a certain way, but in how you handle the response. My issue has more been not trying to come across as robotic or unsympathetic when people react strongly about something. Like I can recognize how and why they are feeling a certain way and I can recognize the validity in how they are feeling but I can't really say that I can "comfort" them in the same way an Fe user could

    • @burpie3258
      @burpie3258 Před 5 měsíci

@@DellyriumxX Great question! In summary, you must find a stimulus that makes you feel an emotion, then consistently expose yourself to said stimulus, and then you will eventually be able to easily express said emotion. You're essentially practicing a skill.
      Here are the steps:
      1. Determine which feelings you have trouble expressing. Sadness? Anger? Love? Do you have trouble crying? I think for most INTPs, they'll struggle with crying and expressing their sadness, so I recommend focusing on crying.
      2. Find something that can bring out that feeling/emotion. This is the hardest step and requires a lot of exploring. For example, my goal was to cry. Sad movies wouldn't do it (even when I watched them alone), writing wouldn't do it, sad music or books wouldn't do it. But through weeks of exploring, I discovered that sappy Facebook videos about rescued animals made me slightly teary-eyed! It felt like choosing this as my stimulus was cheating because these were feel-good videos, so I was actually crying from happiness and not sadness, BUT this is still progress. Do whatever you can to coax out any semblance of emotion, even if it's only a distant cousin of said emotion. ANY progress is still progress.
      3. Now keep practicing! Keep watching those sappy Facebook videos, keep exposing yourself to the stimulus you discovered makes you feel said emotion. The more you practice feeling the emotion, the more easily that emotion will come to you. You are strengthening the neural pathways relevant to feeling the emotion.
      4. After a while, you can try different (but related) stimuli. I started watching sad movies (which previously did not evoke any emotion), and I was easily moved to tears! I kept challenging myself with more difficult stimuli, and now I'm at a point where a friend can tell me what's making them sad, and I will cry in front of them. This isn't a part trick-I've always been this empathetic, but I've finally developed the skills to express what I've always felt on the inside. And boy, does it feel good.
I've kind of used this same method to verbally express my feelings to people: find something you actually can express to someone (no matter how small or seemingly unrelated to "feelings"), then keep practicing it, and eventually move onto more difficult things to express. I started by expressing how certain classes were difficult for me, and now I can express some of my deepest fears, most shameful thoughts, and the dreams for which I yearn.
      Good luck!

I can't explain why - society is weird." Without others around to mask our eccentric natures, it's a clown show. It's Sheldon and Raj from Big Bang Theory.
My ex-girlfriend, an ENTP, could connect with our INTP friend like a mothership transferring data to a scout vessel, but only to transmit data. I try to give our INTP friend joy, sympathy, sorrow to affirm and bring depth to his experiences. I don't know that he has any idea what to do with these emotions. Maybe it's like getting a fruitcake at Christmas. i agree with the fe part very much as well. i tend to not understand why i didn't get the reaction i was expecting from someone and then i become anxious as to what i missed and did wrong. my brain works like "ok i'll say this and they'll say this bcs i know they like that one thing so they must like this too" and i often have a hard time understanding why people like the kinds of people they like. i sometimes go "i'd go along with this person!" but never initiate conversation or any interaction because "I" would go along with them but i have no idea if they'd like me as well. one side of me is like "but they are super interested in this thing just like me!" and the other side of me is "it doesn't mean they will like 'you'!!!!" and i honestly don't know what to do.

Your first example with the piano chords I do all the time with Ti and Ni, the only difference is I can do things before I have a principle for them, and I experiment in the real world to find a principle.
The second cryptic crossword example is something I have a hard time doing as an ISTP. That’s full on Ne stuff, I would never have guessed or even tried to do the process you described.
One cool thing about having INTP friends is that once they understand principles in one subject you can talk to them about another subject and they have a decent understanding of it from the beginning if it uses similar principles to what they are familiar with. Then you can go on rambling about esoteric things nobody else understands. I also realized in the video where Michelle Wilson was doing LuAnne’s makeup that she was pretty good at it even though she said she hardly does her makeup. She also mentioned that it was like painting, and it reminded me of my ENTP friend who was the same, they can take the principles they learned painting and apply it to the face and do a pretty good job. That is some major Ne going on, its just that neither of them have the Se to also skip past the basics of knowing the medium and tools (the liquid, powders, brushes, the things they are using). I think INTPs and Ne in general have an easy time not looking like noobs.

And theeeeeeen I'm in for a freakin' internal debate about "Should I say that it will be fine ? I know she knows that it's just words of comforts and that they are more or less forced because she knows i'm an INTP".
And then start the big simulation in my head of the different outcomes of the different potential responses I have developed over time in case of social emergencies... Taking me far too long to respond to her immediate needs of emotional support and me feeling awkward conscious of my delayed response...

Can you have an analytic brain without the logic-skill to actually solve the problems you see? Is that possible or do I get something wrong here? Or am I simply not used to solving, because I think I started out as an INFJ in life. What do you guys think?

I was literally thinking about learning the piano right before I watched this video and thought "well, I'm not going to take classes, so how could I teach myself music on the computer?"

I tried to take lessons but it seemed useless to me that I still have to pay when I can learn by myself.

The intro is so beautiful, especially when the color changes to black, and the music too!

Great video! I think what you said at the start is so true, about intuitives believing that ideas are what's most important. If INTPs are the most detatched from reality, INFPs (like myself) must be the next most detatched. I have a lot of difficulty remaining attached to reality. I retreat to the conceptual world more often than not. It's more interesting than the physical world.

I struggle to remember anything that is so perfectly descriptive of how I (a self-identified INTP) view this world on a daily basis. Thank you!

Sherlock Holmes is often typed as an INTP. He literally refers to his body as mere "transport" for his brain in A Study In Pink(BBC). It's funny that you also phrase it that way. Great videos, keep it up.

That was insightful and well explained! I feel like I would enjoy INTP friends, but I wouldn't be able to keep up with the depth of their knowledge.

I can't speak for others but I don't mind if knowledge is lacking. All I want from someone is a desire to learn.
