Being mentally or morally lazy is something that is almost repulsive to me. When someone chooses to be willfully ignorant or choose to not do the right thing (even though it wouldn't cost them much time or effort) really, really bothers me. People can be physically lazy as much as they want as long as nobody gets hurt (not taking care of kids or pets out of laziness is not ok). Just don't be mentally or morally lazy.

INTP here: One of my biggest pet peeves is Surveys... When I take a survey where the wording in the questions are vague, and I'm thinking the following... well if they meant (A), then I would answer "Strongly Agree"... but if they meant (B), then I would answer "Disagree". So I wind-up answering "Neutral" often because of this. And those who analyze the data are at a loss for not receiving my opinion accurately, thus skewing the data results when surveying a focus group. Surveys = Unreliable data. Maybe all they're good for is analyzing "trends"

INTP here, the interests hit me hard.
Like I want to try and learn everything.
But I have absoulty no idea how to actually do it. Which means don't do anything because if I'm preoccupied with actually doing something, then I won't have time to do something else.
    And also about writing.
I've had teachers pull me aside to genuinely ask if I wrote my papers myself. They said that the difference from the way I talked and wrote made them question whether or not I was cheating.
Honselty though, taking a full week to write out my thoughts gave me the opportunity to put EXACTLY what I wanted to say, so I didn't want to waste it.
I never really enjoy research papers because it was basically felt like regurgitating what other people have said on a specific topic that was assigned to me.
However I loved essays about topics such as civic virtues and opinions about moral obligation. I could take time to really talk about MY feelings and MY ideas about literally existing.

I hate having to repeat myself. Particularly when it's the result of:
    • not listening (despite asking)
    • skimming what I read then responding as if they read carefully
    • not understanding what I meant yet assuming they do
    • tragically poor memory
And particularly when my previous explanations entailed:
    • a lot of mental effort in distilling complex ideas, listing all fathomable possibilities or providing examples (and I can't just copy-paste)
    • careful wording and Fe considerations I can't duplicate or replicate now that I'm frustrated
    • emotional vulnerability that I do NOT want to have to go through again
I also hate having to fix people's questions for them. I can tell what they want to know, but for some reason they won't ask what they actually mean. The most direct way to deal with this is, "I think you meant to ask 'xyz?'" (Don't just tell them what they want to know; positive reinforcement of asking the wrong questions will backfire). However, sometimes people unwittingly ask fallacious loaded questions because they are operating on a premise that it never occurred to them could be incorrect (e.g. ever had someone ask you WHY you did something you never did?). Sometimes people are 3+ layers deep in false assumptions, and unpacking all the errors behind their nonsensical questions invariably becomes a game of "find the hidden premise!" I usually play stupid in a way that forces people to question their own assumptions. The price I pay is worth witnessing them examine their own false beliefs they've never questioned.
    Other things I hate:
Hypocrisy! Especially when people are totally unaware of the contradictions and double standards in their reasoning. This can sometimes be initially hilarious until you realize that these people are allowed to vote... 🤦‍♀️😩

    My pet peeves are:
    -When people act pretentious
-When people spout misinformation and act like they're correct
-When people try to explain things simply but disregards the rest of the subject (especially if it's about my interests and fixations)
-This is my pet peeve but I hate it when people use the words "always" and "never" while not being aware of or disregarding the "maybe" and "sometimes" (I don't usually mind it's only when they throw around those words excessively)
-This is my personal pet peeve but I hate it when people turn the lights on when it's already bright outside (well tbh I prefer being in the dark since I'm pretty light sensitive so this is not INTP-specific)

Emotions are universal chemical reactions in the brain; feelings are learned responses influenced by culture and personality. INTP's happen to interpret emotions through Ti and express through Ne. There's a thing called "World Building," where a sci-fi or fantasy author constructs a world. For an INTP, it would likely be complete with nations, languages, mythology, natural history, and backstory for every citizen in a village, etc. As an example: Tolkien's Middle Earth.
This allows me to study whichever branch of knowledge currently catches my attention and also to synthesize a "practical" application for that knowledge (seriously, in the real world, there are few practical uses for knowing the order of Imperial liquid volume measures). I use a tool called _World Anvil_ for organizing the collection of facts about my world. On the creative side, as I write stories, I can refer to my world's encyclopedia.

This may just be me: I hate people. Now to clarify I'm not talking misanthropic, blind hatred towards every person. What I mean is I don't like how a person acts when in a group. "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals". - Men-In-Black (1997). This quote sums up the problem. Whether it's "mob" or "herd" mentality, the person becomes objectively a worse version of themselves.
This thinking is odd conundrum as an asocial person in a social species. I mean groups are how we survived in prehistoric times. Unfortunately people don't know when to stop and the groups get bigger the people dumber and the consequences become world shaking. This is part of the reason why I stay as far away from Politics as possible. Politics may be the worst of this "People are dumb"-phenomena.
I don't know where the threshold is where a person becomes people but families are fine to me. A tribe can be fine in some instances. I think it depends more on who you are up against. I wish sociology wasn't a mess of critical theory and pseudo-science because i would like to learn more. However, they only hold my attention for a short amount of time. The funny thing is that now that I've noticed this pattern, I try to advance them as much as possible when the interest comes around again. I find myself working at a feverish pace competing against an invisible clock. Only that clock is me and the time left is arbitrary, to when either I've had enough of the subject, or something more interesting pulls me away. Here's a story from my life that almost perfectly explains the daily paralysis by analysis that I go through:
Almost an year ago, I was reading a Law journal and I realised that a certain aspect of a certain law didn't apply in the same way accross similar cases. So what I did, in an attempt to perfectly understand why this was, (even when my colleagues suggested a very simple and straightforward reason as to why this might be so) I started off by analysing the problem in different "views". I separated the problem into, first, a Mechanical view, where I would analyse the elements of a the problem as a logical system that leads to a certain result. Then secondly, I did a hypothetical view, where I changed the different variables in the system in such a way as to imagine what it would look like had they hypothetically been like that naturally. Third, I did a universal view, where I tried to tie what I know about this problem and its elements into my understanding of the rest of the world.
Then I realised that in order to know certain concepts, since concepts are not tangible, visible or audible, that I must inquire into how the human mind can more efficiently approach concepts in the mind. Then i looked at how concepts are conceived and analysed in the human mind using certain audio-visual aids, like shapes, colours, symbols and sounds. So, for example, the concept of "gravity" may be visualised by an individual as a force that has a certain shape, a certain colour and a certain feel, in order to be able to better visualiae the concept in his mind. I kept on theorising until I ended up writing an entire book about the "Nature of Concepts" and on how to build a "Conceptual Framework" for the mind. The book only finished a few weeks ago, and now it has 22 chapters full of explanations in how the human mind grasps, analyses and manipulates concepts and my theory of how the Human mind is itself a concept which interacts and meets with other concepts to form connections and to analyse them.
*Yeah, it really did go that far*

Everything in the video rang true, but the one about being in between the simple and the complex was something I have struggled to put my finger on up until now.
I love acquiring knowledge, and I often go deep into subjects that have nothing to do with my work or even with each other just to satiate my curiosity. But I really try to sum things up when I find a willing listener, or I'll retain the broader aspects of it, even though I know the details are fascinating.
I remember when I was in college I was considered a very bookish and nerdy person. But then I would find myself in conversations where this person kept citing an author and whatever book... and he would do that at least 8 times during a 5min conversation! I don't know if he thought I had read the same books as him (though we were taking different courses), or if he was just trying to show off his repertoire and make me feel dumb, but it was maddening because there was no real conversation there! He never said what the ideas really were or how they connected to his argument, he just assumed that by citing a few books he could make himself understood. He actually drained any curiosity I had to know those authors during these conversations. He made ne NOT want to research something I actually wanted to know more about. That's like... making a fish give up on swimming through sheer boredom. Nuts!

Once again painfully accurate (in a good way)... every point raised is spot on but focusing on the first 'simplistic explanations' you are correct that INTPs can be thought of as overly-theoretical and academic, and possibly high Ti INTPs are more prone to this way of operating, but as you stated, most are searching for the explanatory sweet-spot. We're never satisfied with over-simplification or lack of perspective but yet I believe that most INTPs are also very much annoyed by obtuse, overly-intellectual theorizing as can sometimes be found, for example, among philosophers. I love philosophy but when reading the original texts just find that many of their key ideas could have been explained a little more elegantly and clearly (and with many fewer words) thus my preference for succinct summaries on CZcams ;]. Funnily enough many of the philosophers that tend to go on and on, revisiting the same idea, are INTPs e.g. Kant (although proportionally NF and NJ philosophers seem to be worse... only kidding!). To summarize with any topic of interest we prefer to condense information and ideas into a few general and universal principles but this is not in any way over-simplification, as we can generally back up these principles (i.e., provide reasons and the logic) after many hours of sifting through evidence (Si), gathering different perspectives (Ne) and developing an explanatory and logically coherent theory (Ti), which we then attempt to disseminate to others for their own understanding (inferior Fe) but usually with little effect (POLR Se), so we conclude that other people are stupid (opposing Te), and then ask why bother at all (critic Ni), and finally blow up when we feel that no one understands us and we are alone in the world (demon Fi). Didn't expect to go down that path but there you go....

It can do that in New houses too. Thats why doors are "hung" on site and not merely "installed", because it has to fit snuggly with the slightest difference of angle in a doorframe....and in a new house (or change in environment that effects an old one) as the foundation and wood "settles" from the weight of the house or environmental effects such as humidity, the walls can shift slightly, causing the door not to fit and needing the angle of "hang" or "swing" adjusted a bit.

As an INTP, I find that the fear of boredom is one of my biggest drivers and obstacles in life and career that manifests itself as procrastination and perceived laziness. The paradox I continually experience is the desire to be entrepreneurial in my endeavors (and have many ideas as such), but remain noncommittal because I know that my passion for whatever it is, is fleeting.

I've just found your channel randomly now at 5 am and after a few videos about INTPs and reading some comments here and there I have never felt more understood in my entire life. Damn. Btw guess the effect? I got so much stuff to overthink about now and I am happy and somehow I realise it sounds insane for vast majority of people but I think it's a good place to share this. Also, earned my subscribe, even tho I am the INTP who stalks in the shadows only watching and not really interacting. Got a half hour motivation boost

    1. if you hate everything your life is bound to suck, doesnt seem like a type thing more like a personal problem
    2. simplistic explanations do suck, but i can't see how a Ti dom wouldn't like the overly complicated theorizing, so long as it makes sense and follows a logical path. I think its awesome to detangle ideas, specially if theyre all connected. I think INTPs like complicated things, to turn them into more simple concepts, and that does imply them liking the overly complex ideas so that they can simplify them / generalize them. For example, when reaserching an answer to a question i like to read way more than is needed to then, when my Ne is finally satisfied, simplify and give the best summary i could make. (takes a long time but is very satisfying).
    3. yeah this one is pretty bad. Makes intps doubt their intelligence, which is a recurring theme in intps life.
    4. Yes, this one is 100% true, misinformation is an epidemic that makes society dumber as a collective so it's intolerable. It's like doing a disservice to humanity.
    5. Nah keeps me entertained. Just give the top 3 hobbies the most time and show it to others somehow (keeps that Fe happy) and it's not bad. It can feel like a waste of time though, to be semi-good at many things but not good enough to make a living out all of them.
    6. agree
    7. agree too much.
Another thing intps hate is when theyre not heard. like they get asked for an answer, they think about it, find a logical solution to it that could probably work, and then the asker doesnt even listen to the answer they asked for and does whatever the hell that makes no sense and will bring no results toward obtaining the soultion they were seeking. Pretty annoying.
Another thing intps really hate is irrational emotions. seriously, ask an intp how they're feeling and they will cringe and secretly hate you for asking about the thing they try to avoid at all costs. That's due to demon Fi. anything Fi related is seen as an attack, an enemy, a frustrating negative situation, etc. If you make another one of these of any type be sure to remark on their demon function, it will 100% work and be relatable, and relatability gives subscriptions, which seems to be a problem you're facing currently according to the end of the video.. Like from my meme sharing experiences, number one factor for shares and likes is relatability, then comes comedy so bonus points if it involves both concepts.
Last thing intps hate i will mention is when someone doesn't want to accept a truth because it doesn't "FEEL" right. (another Fi rejection problem). Like if you're telling someone something factual you read about extensively and know to be true, and they can´t accept it, even if it makes all the sense in the world, even if they admit it makes all the sense in the world, because it doesn't "FEEL" right to them so they can´t accept it to be that way.. *intp brain explodes*

I only just discovered these -- I used to be more outgoing, much more. ENTP quality outgoing. Then, it just flipped on me about 15 years ago, and I'm identifying with all of these INTP videos. The whole thing about miscommunications and disliking people who deliberately do not communicate clearly is so on point. AAAAGHHH YES JUST F*CKING SAY WHAT YOU ARE THINKING. I don't think people realize how stressful and fear-inducing it is to me when they try to "soften" harsh news. The more they try to avoid saying it, the worse it gets for me. Just f*cking SAY IT.
The biggest compliment I can give someone is that I never have to walk away from a conversation with them wondering what they meant because they told me what they meant. If I have to play guessing games, f*ck it, you're not worth the stress.
