I totally agree with you. I'm very much an INTP myself....and the personality type I like the most in other people, is hands down INFPs. Basically, they're the same as me....but....they're more connected to the emotional aspects of reality. I live in my head, my intellect, all day, and it's exhausting tbh. I often get home after a long stressful day....and literally watch interviews with the musician Aurora. She's a hardcore INFP....and something about her entire vibe is incredibly comforting and inspiring. It's total ASMR to my personality type.
Sometimes I think....if I could remake my MBPT into anything I wanted....I'd choose INFP.
      I absolutely love being an introvert....and a big picture thinker....and a perceiver.
But....living inside my intellect can be so tiring, and often makes other people....not like you. They assume you're aloof(when you're actually hyper aware) or assume you think you're better than them. Sometimes I think it would be nice to FEEL something....deeply....and exist inside that feeling and live there.
I have this odd theory that if I could improve my life...and my overall mental health on all levels....I would be more of an INFP. Maybe. Idk.... :/

Why I love INFPs as an INTP:
I used to live life without much going on. I was just a peaceful and lazy INTP who didn't care or even was aware of what was happening out in the real world. Then I met an INFP and we started connecting mentally. We didn't meet much, we just went with the flow and the time flew so fast.
    1. I lack Fi. Therefore even though I had an identity function Ti as my strongest, I felt a part of my indentity at its weakest. One part of me had a strong but flexible identity which people liked about me, and the other was simply just empty. My INFP friend with strong Fi came to me as my other half and I don't think I even deserved that. Everybody only saw that Ti identity in me while INFPs saw both my Ti identity (probably since they lacked it) and the missing Fi identity.
    2. Us and INFPs have similar standards. Loyalty coming from our Si child, honesty and authenticity, someone who I can learn from (I have so much I learned from my INFP friend such as just being there and feeling), and non-judgmental/openmindedness.
She helped me mature, I helped her mature. We both helped each other suppress our stubbornness and open our eyes to a brand new world in the healthiest way anyone could ever done.
I can go on with the list but I will end it here for now.

I'm an INTP female and my best friend is a male INFP. I've never met anybody else who has such a profound love and respect for humanity, with all its joys and miseries. In his case it takes a very philosophical bend (you guys are waaaaaay smarter than the stereotypes give you credit for) and together we can discuss philosophy, psychology and literature for hours. He's the only one I have never managed to tire out.
Our only point of friction is this: the two of us haven't had it easy, but objectively he's had it way worse than me. Yet, he's managed to secure for himself a much more stable future than what I have. However, somehow it's like he can't see that, neither can he fully realise how far he's come. It's very difficult for me to describe, but it literally looks like existential sadness has a grip on him, and he can't free himself from it. It's not whiny or "Sad girl" or performative, it's genuine melancholy and pessimism, and there's no way to reason with that.

(sorry for any mistake English's not my first language) As an INTP I tend to always catch feelings for INFPs, they're actually able to make me feel understood and I can create a deeper connection, they tend to be fascinated by the way I think and all the schemes trough wich I see life; also they get my sense of humour, wich is very rare. Sadly, it's very difficult for me to have solid relationships with them and in the end I always get my heart broken 💔. I am now recovering from the rejection of an INFP that as I see it now may be the only person I ever actually loved... As an INTP I tend not te be in touch with my emotions but INFPs can help me bring awareness to that trough the deep intellectual and emotional connection that we share. Only having a single deep conversation with an INFP changed the way I saw the world around me and I think that is one of the rarest things one can experience in life, sometimes talking to them felt like living in a completely different world, in which there was space for beauty and art, and it felt like distancing from all the things in the real world that I find ugly, stressful or otherwise accepting all these things and seeing them in a different light. I think the connection that INFPs and us INTPs may share is on the rarest and most precious things we can experience.

First of all Thank You for the well thought out and delivered message on intps.
Second i believe infps are very special and society needs to take care of them and with them. asking them to be anything else then what they are shuts them down then we are a world with out art, creative expression and the wonder of love. The world needs infps and what they bring to the table. Heck with out infps at the table no one else even wants to sit there.
It angers me when someone tells anyone they are too emotional. There is a reason for emotion. As an intp i was blessed to have *nfps in my life to help me realize what emotions i even have and how to process them. I am a better person because yall are who you are.
I have made it one of my life missions to care for any infp i might come across in life. and no one will make them feel bad about who they are when i am around.

From one INTP to another, I think that I mastered how to handle it when they cry by experience:
      1. Make slow moves. Don't stare on her eyes/cheeks all the time.
      2. Provide food/warm drink/handkerchief/blanket. Whatever is appropriate to the situation.
      3. Connect through careful hugs/soft touch.
      4. Don't talk at first, listen to them.
      5. Don't give them a talk about your solution to the problem or why it might not really be a problem. Instead just try to connect to her vibe and go with her flow.
      6. When it stops and she gives you the sign she's stable again, try to offer an activity that she likes and where she is usually in her comfort zone. For example go for a walk in the nearby forest (fresh air helps a lot) or watch one episode of her favourite TV series.
      7. While all of this happens don't take in other information. Leave your phone in the pocket at all times. If you look at it, even if she doesn't say anything, she noticed that you got distracted of her situation and you might as well drop a bomb on your relationship.
      Good luck :)

I'm an INTP with an ISFP gf. When I tell her all the random things I find amusing or throw out alternative lyrics to songs she feels sorry for my "poor mind" because it never turns off. While Ti is the most significant thing to an INTP I find the randomness of Ne as almost a second personality that never allows me to get bored or dogmatic. I think Ne plays a big part in our desire to play devil's advocate over just building a straightforward case. Its why when most types try to build an airtight case for what they think we often devote a lot of time poking holes in our own beliefs, so other's arguments don't surprise us.

Relationships with INFPs is always a mystery to me, because you guys are so quiet and untalkative, and INTPs really want to know what you think, but using our Fe for asking is exhausting. • @unnecessaryapostrophe4047

One of the things that I think we INTPs like so much about MBTI is it's reflective (expressive?) of the logical conclusion that different personality types serve a purpose and should have a place in the world. Therefore, it would be silly of us to not like INFPs. Your personality type serves a purpose, and it's on us to understand that purpose and appreciate your contribution to the fabric of humanity.

I appreciate this video and what you’ve mentioned here, what you’ve said resonates in my case. A few long-term friends of mine are INFPs and I find we build off each other’s humor incredibly well. Our Ne helps with that as you say 😆
Interestingly enough my INFP friends have expressed the same as you, that some part of them appreciates our (INTPs) sometimes brutal honesty. That’s something I’ve found refreshing. I’ve had to learn to word particular things in a less harsh way when I’m around certain people who don’t process things in a similar fashion as me. I still express my thoughts, but not in an entirely “emotionless” or tactless manner. When I was younger I was somewhat outspoken in stating what I found to be true or logical, but my social awareness and what’s generally socially acceptable (Fe in part) kicked into gear later on. Though I still have to make a conscious effort to raise my eyebrows and such in order to remove my RBF… Not that I don’t feel things, my emotions just don’t seem to innately travel to my face even if I’m feeling great. Hence the robot stereotype I suppose 😅
Anyway, I really enjoyed this video and I look forward to watching your future content, whatever you decide to create! Take care and I’m wishing you well.

What I as an INTP think about INFPs:
As we try to analyze everything with logic.. you are definitely one of the most difficult one to understand what is going on in your head… either I think u are just completely driven by your emotions that can change also pretty damn fast or I think you are very interesting cause I can’t analyze you and want to know how u see the world! I love different perspectives to see the world :)
What I like about you is that u seem to be very based on your own. So not just doing things because others think it’s cool and you wanna be liked by others. Another point is you seem to prefer to be alone as well the most time.
It just would be lovely if I could have a very good talk to an INFP where the person can tell me what’s going on in their head cause when I ask how they got this or that idea they often struggle to explain their thoughts or why the like what they like in general… (how can u not think about why u like something until u got the answer?? 😂)
    Hope that helped u :D

INTP here reporting on what we would think about INFP people.
I think this can be summed up pretty easily. It's a clash of NT vs NF.
NT's will get into feelings once the data is settled out, not before. It's frustrating to hear about feelings before the data is in or if a person wants to prioritize feelings over the data after it's come in. If there is a universal way it's through thinking, not feeling. It's difficult to break out of the thinking first model and accept people's feelings as they come. Be patient if you can.
This would be where you feel the love is unrequited. We're just frustrated that you put feelings before facts/thinking.

You said that if an INTP doesn't like you he won't talk to you, as an INTP myself I feel like people think I hate them because I dont start conversations or I don't talk to them regularly, but it's like I never really dislike anyone, everyone has some kind of quirk that makes them unique and fascinating, but if I don't feel like talking to someone I'm not really gonna do it for the sake of it.
The main reason is that I value truth and if I don't wanna talk (most of the time it's not anyone's fault, it's just that for 90% of the time I'm thinking about some weird stuff that nobody else would be interested in), and if I have any reason to believe that the other person wouldn't wanna talk I really don't want to start a conversation because I don't want to force him to lie and continue the conversation if he really doesn't feel like it.

Fun discussion. It's interesting to see things from a certain point of view. Thank you for your honesty, and effort into making this video. You've asked for feedback from an INTP, so I'll endeavor to be honest in return.
I'm not wholly interested in someone based on an arbitrary temperament difference. Interest is the governing attraction, and I often find myself at its mercy. However, being disinterested in a person is not equitable to disliking or unloving them. Not in the least! It's more of a...focus really. I certainly do not have the time nor energy to, on a consistent basis, attend to a friend's (or family member's) day-to-day life and wellbeing---as much as I love them. Oh, but how I wish I could! For fear of someone close to me excluding me from their life! Though I cannot blame them for it, they will always remain close to me. I believe this is attributable to your point of loyalty in an INTP, as it seems to me. Well, I am rambling...

From one INTP to another, be careful of Jordan Peterson. He couches many problematic, misogynistic, racist, and classist arguments in his literature and lectures. He disguises this regressive thinking behind heavily academic (and therefore legitimate-sounding) language to give himself sort of a false aura of expertise. In reality, he is really nothing but a clinical psychologist who should have stayed a clinical psychologist. Don't be tricked by his pseudointellectualism.

Sure. *It's an F(i) Hero [1st] / S(i) Child [3rd] thing.* F(i) is a function that judges based on values that are not linked to the environment or culture around them, and S(i) _(which INTPs share)_ is very focused on how someone or something makes YOU feel.
So there is this propensity to judge a person, a group or even an entire culture with what the INFP feels about it ( *Edit:* As in S(i) telling F(i) what verdict it should have, and F(i) finding a reason after the fact), and attach labels to it, accusations without ground that can be really destructive to someone / the culture. And since T(e) is the weakest function they use, bad INFPs will be completely blind to the consequences of the positions they espouse, while more mature INFPs will realize the damage they don't want to inflict that they can accidentally, or unwittingly, cause.
As a result, good INFPs tend to be the meek, good natured, helpful kind that will make you groan with their puns, that will be needing help on some mundane stuff and be genuinely thankful for it, and that will make you feel good with the emotional and appreciative "daaaaaw".
INFPs with no awareness of their T(e) aspirant, and no control of their T(i) demon becomes insane crusaders, espousing causes that makes no sense to anyone but their self-righteous cliques. Artists and communists fighting capitalism using Apple products and with no concept of "irony". People glued to the road? You can bet an -NFP is involved somewhere, probably the ones with wacky tatoos, piercings and/or hair colors (an effect of S(e) Blindspot). Actual non-ironic triggers and pronouns? Probably an unhealthy -NFP. Feminists yelling in the streets to mass-import people that will, at best, want them in burquas? -NFP... or one hell of a T(e) blindspot (so potentially INFJ).
An unruly S(i) child / F(i) hero / T(i) demon is one hell of a combo.

      @@piotrnogas8448 As for the others:
_ISTP:_ They are incredibly close to their stereotypes, which I find awesome. The ability to come to a conclusion that is better than the "common knowledge", by themselves, and act on it, is something I admire, as I tend to only be able to do the first part. And their T(i) hero means that if you throw ideas at them, they will weigh these ideas with their own rationale, their own reasonings, and be pretty fair about it, while T(e) users, especially ISTJ / ESTJ will default to whatever figures of authority or previous teachings they've received instructed them to believe.
For example: If your government was to push onto you some rushed experimental gene therapy rebranded as a common preventative treatment, an ISTP will understand your reluctance and leave you alone while an ISTJ will badger you.
*INTJ:* That brooding guy who don't mind working overtime and seems to predict the future every time someone takes a chance in life? Find one of his niche interests and actively listen to them, without judging, especially if it is unpopular, and they'll never shut up. Give them something to experiment and play with, the child will resurface. N(i) hero / F(i) child is a weird combination.
*ENTJ:* We are each other's shadow. Same functions, same order, but what you're introverted on, I am extroverted on and vice-versa. What you're good at, but don't like to do, you can delegate to me and I'll be pretty happy you're taking on the parts I dislike [T(e) vs T(i)]. The drive you've got and ability to focus on getting your goal done is the kick in the arse I need, while I am able to pick on side opportunities you would have missed making us progress much faster [N(i) vs N(e)]. Your touched up appearance and need to share information, and be very communicative is easily absorbed by the INTP's incredible ability to appreciate, to listen, to remember [S(e) vs S(i)]. And the justifications for all that hard work, the fact you are actually bringing improvement, even if it is improvement others are often blind to is something we deeply respect and can explain to others well so that you get recognition for it [F(i) vs F(e)].
Nothing ground-breaking on those last two ones, everyone tends to have complementary relationships with their shadows (invert E-I *AND* P-J) and rivals (invert *ONLY* P-J).

Infps can be hard to hang with if they can't enjoy the show. If and when they can enjoy the intellect and barrage of ideas and add to comversation rather than criticize (us) for being 'right' all the time, it is pleasurable. I don't really dig being criticized because someone feels like I'm trying to be right, when I am. Hopefully that, the above comment, came across as..not full of ego, pun unintended. I just state the facts which are neither trying to be 'right' or alter reality. And my darker humor is reserved for others, not the infp out of experience. Wasn't that honest of me, now? "...INTPs think we're all a bit dumb and dopey..."
Well, yeah... We do... but we think that about everyone, most especially ourselves. It's not an Fi sort of judgement so much as an observation about how the universe works. That's where things tend to get hairy with INTPs and INFPs: translating Fi. We can see just about anything as "is" versus "isn't" without getting into the "should" versus "shouldn't" of it. We all have areas where our personal biases don't allow for compromise, but expecting us to respect your Fi as somehow being sacrosanct is just asking for trouble.

I'm an INTP and i do judge other people at face value, i guess we are just more accepting and understanding than others. Super loyal, yes... had to be us , someone else might have gotten it wrong.
I want do disagree with something you said, other people don't necessarily need outside validation either, it's just some neuron pathways that were used, and rewarded when they were young and so ended up that way, perhaps caving in to peer pressure, maybe some parents being pushy about learning & stuff. I was very free when i was young, left to make up my own mind about a lot of stuff; of course i saw other kids opinions on matters but i also noticed those kids being wrong a lot of times.
I wouldn't use the word love, at least not so soon milady, it's also a very large polyamorous relationship you want me to commit to, i mean -ALL INFP's- that's a lot. But yeah, i do like INFP's and i have noticed we get along well, especially when we are 1on1 or in a small group, i have noticed them to wonder off into group think as soon as the group is larger the groups interest or some other interests become more important, but i guess we all do that sometimes. I distinctly remember i can't get INFP's to stay on one topic for too long unless i make some show of it, i would like it more if i could have a more buddy-cop duo with an INFP that can reserve let's say 1 hour a day for talking about an interest we both share (writing fiction in my case). Ideally this should happen naturally and not have defined hours and schedule, but even with a time-table i can't seem to nail you INFP's to a topic, even if you are interested in it (hope this is not a general thing and it's just me being unlucky).
Search youtube for: Benjamin Spicy INFP Is The Best Type And Here's Why , the video is gold, everyone is like that i'm sure, but most people just don't admit it, and i find myself in that video a lot.

IN REGARDS TO THOUGHTS ON INFPS: I think INFPs are very cool and back when I was single, I would match on apps with INFPs more than any other type, however there was a problem. It seemed like your Ne informing Fi created a lot of reading between the lines that doomed those relationships. Typical situation: We have a strong vibe, are fascinated by each other's views and she'd think I was the greatest ever. THEN, we'd disagree on something I saw as a minor issue and she'd see a huge moral red flag. All the unreasonably favorable assumptions she had about me would go the other way and my attempts to right would come off as excuses and a death spiral followed. It's sad, but it happened more than once. I have found happiness with an ISFP. The biggest difference is that with Ne trickster she can't read between the lines well and takes me at face value until proven otherwise which allows me to make a mistake before paying for the assumption of wrong motives. There isn't the deep philosophical conversations of the INFP/INTP relationships from Ne, but the drama of having to consider how my words or actions are going to be reinterpreted gives me more peace of mind.

Therefore any slight conflicts can really be catastrophised by us, as you say.

After all "cool" is relative (truly we think we're cool AF we just don't wanna brag around because it's only about weird stuff that not even another INTP can identify).
Thank you for this video, it's really sweet.
Still can't understand INFPs though. I just think they're genuine.

I understand that, I found that really fascinating when researching you guys and also looking at my INTP friends.
I have an INTP friend who was feeling a bodily experience and was sat struggling to logically identify what feeling it was as he hadn’t experienced it before - which I just thought was funny to observe as an INFP 😆
You’re very welcome - enjoyed making it! I also don’t understand INFP’s either, we’re confusing even for ourselves haha. Genuine, idealistic, and very very deep feelers 😅

heard this a few times actually! someone else also suggested he's INFJ. I may well be wrong!

I like INFP's very much, but like most FP's, they can get very dramatic for no reason at all.

as an infp, i’ve never been able to connect with another person the way i did my intp ex. recently lost him because we fell victim
to the one area in which we clashed. im emotionally stormy and eventually he no longer felt safe. don’t think ill get over the loss. so i’ve learned to adore this personality type, but to fear it as well.

This is definitely a very valuable learning lesson for almost every INFP I think, and I can definitely relate with previous relationships. I used to feel the same until I met my current partner, so I can assure you that one day you will find someone new (and different) to your ex and be ready to give love another go, just all part of our journey and growth! Lots of love to you ❤️
