Stadium Synth Pads on Yamaha Montage/ModX/Astrolab

As keyboardists we generally go through life playing subtle sounds.
Usually it’s guitar players who get to make giant distorted screaming sounds. As someone who grew up playing rock with loud guitars my whole life, there’s probably some jealous part of me that always wanted to be the one making huge sounds.

Thanks man, this video kinda reminded me of my days of tour manager's assistant... big concrete walls... echoes... soundchecks... Also them pads on Modx was really good.
Oh and my two cents on keys and rock music...
Keyboard in rock... as an avid rock music fan i never even understood why lead keyboards are there... i always skipped keyboard solos in Deep Purple and Rainbow (sorry Jon Lord and Don Airey)... Fast forward 30 years... still don't get it! even tho i have more keyboards now and can play some keyboard solos but why... but in jazz i love it! Dunno why.

First serious keyboard: MODX or AstroLab? MODX seems more immediately flexible, but also potentially more overwhelming/complex for a relative beginner.

that's a good question. Are you planning on using the Arturia software?

@@SamGutman I'm just starting out on the synth side so am not invested into any particular platform currently. If I picked up the AstroLab I'd likely also be picking up V collection, but not immediately.

What happened to your Montage M?

Often backline companies are only able to get me a Montage 7 or a ModX. I guess because the M is still so new

Curious, when you playing your sounds, they aren’t going out to the audience, right?

In a lot of these examples it's just going directly to my in-ears and camera and not going through the mains. If I'm checking my boards for monitors and front of house then it's going through the mains.
