Hi. You might think it's taking too long but I'm sure you are enjoying the journey. What you have done so far looks great and am looking forward to seeing the foam board go up. Very enjoyable video. Thanks.

Hi Graham and good to see your progress. I missed your previous video so I'm just catching up. I like the fail safe systems to cope with enthusiastic grandchildren. It's all looking good and I think surface mounting the point motors makes a lot of sense. Not surprised you needed to get a CDU. As you will have discovered it makes a huge difference and will give reliable power to throw the point. Pity about the hornby switches but the alternative will work just as well. One thing to watch out for with foam board, which I say with bitter experience. It doesn't like getting wet, even a little bit. When I built Grey Havens on my layout I used foam board for the base of the raised area. I painted it with acrylic paint to give me a base colour to work on the next day and woke up next morning to a board that looked like a curled piece of dry bread. My researches told me that you should size the board with PVA (although I often found just doing that made it warp) but the best way is to brace it somehow. It doesn't need much bracing of course. Stephen
