Here is the FULL and UNCUT version of Leonard Nimoy singing "The Ballad Of Bilbo Baggins," with an introduction to the song, complete instrumental break, and the ending in its entirety.
The girl with the short brown hair at the beginning of this video is a very young Erin Gray (who would later go on to play Col. Wilma Deering in the 1979-1980 Buck Rogers in the 25th Century TV series.
@matak99 The recording originally appeared on Two Sides of Leonard Nimoy album on the Dot label. One side had stuff like "Spock Thoughts" and the other was pure Leonard. :) Thoroughly enjoyable album, even as rough as this song is, it has its charm. LOL! I love the guy...
Michelle66, That is indeed Erin Gray as recently confirmed to me (and others) by Erin. The TV program was Malibu U starring Ricky Nelson (Ozzie & Harriet). RIcky was a singing sensation at that time.
Filmed with a CCD or not, it had more information and beter clarity than many of the color versions i've seen. it did, however, cut of the surrounding parts of the image.
Seeing this in black-and-white makes it even more surreal----Nimoy's face upside down right in the camera has a demonic "Twilight-Zonish" look. Rod Serling would have been....well, not proud, but he would have chuckled.
I don't think it's fair to call it "fake". It's merely, as you said, a cam capture of a TV as a videotape is playing. You might also notice the audio has been remastered, mixing the video camera's audio with a stereo recording, probably from CD. On Dailymotion you can find this clip with unremastered audio, uploaded earlier in 2007. People have also posted clips which combine this B&W stereo version with the color one.
Ah! An off-handed remark in the intro solved the mystery of this clip's origin! It's "Malibu U." a 1967 summer replacement series on ABC. Ricky Nelson is seen at the intro as the "Dean" of Malibu U., and the theme was composed by the Addrisi Brothers. This episode aired July 28, 1967, and also featured to song stylings of Mrs Miller! A bad music perfecta! And one of those dancers may have been Erin Grey, later of "Buck Rogers!"
Well if this wont be in the Hobbit movie, I'm betting abunch of music videos will pop up when the movie is released on blueray/dvd. That will be almost as glorious as having this in the movie!
You realise what he said was "The Elf kings halls", right? It's just a little harder to understand because it's longer, I don't think they could have gotten away with putting something such as what you said in a 1960s song about classic literature
@Bartman954 I never knew this song existed , it must be quite some time , as Nimoy was at his height of popularity - Star Trek . When Lord Of the Rings was a hit , I bought a set of J.RR. Tolken 's book, one of the books , was The Hobbit , that was in 2006. This is a real surprise. Malaysian Insider
@@kingdot4677 yes, watching it again 12 years after I made that comment I can see it was made in the 1960s, not long after Leonard Nimoy started appearing in Star Trek.
So fun read the bottons, and listen that boy saying "Mr. Spock, of Star Trek", and have a piece of the sucrss that Tolkien's books did on that estrange age of the history
For everyone who says its bad...i think its supposed to be..i mean who could actually think this was seriously meant to be a good song? Its like a parody, sort of.
Wow, I am stuck on this song now. I've replayed it at least 5 times... gotta love Leonard Nimoy.

To quote Mr Spock himself: "Could be some form of space madness we've never seen before."

this song never leaves your head
I saw this a week ago and it’s still stuck in my head . Had to come back to make sure I didn’t see it in a dream . I love this and I have no idea why
You the man, Mr. Leonard!
RIP!!!
😥
Thank you, Professor.
A friend sent me this.
Now the algorithm is broken.
Thanks! Never saw the whole thing.

Man he’s hot. I love him so much. Wish he was still here with us physically. Miss you Leonard Nimoy. 🖖🏻🖖🏻🖖🏻🖖🏻
Just the fact that there is an "uncut" version of this is fucking hilarious to me
Michelle66,
That is indeed Erin Gray as recently confirmed to me (and others) by Erin. The TV program was Malibu U starring Ricky Nelson (Ozzie & Harriet). RIcky was a singing sensation at that time.
"Malibu U" only lasted 7 episodes.
Filmed with a CCD or not, it had more information and beter clarity than many of the color versions i've seen.
it did, however, cut of the surrounding parts of the image.
Fascinating.

LOL, I own this LP. Never seen the vid, THANK YOU. Honestly, thank you, this is a hoot and a half.
Haha! Man that was great I havn't seen that in a long, long time. Not coming to Chicago for a visit soon would be highly... illogical.
Rockin'!
Leonard Nimoy is such a sex symbol in this video that he's turning me gay. I am so surprised that he didn't become as big as the Beatles.
I hope that hobbit dance gets popular and everybody does it in all the nightclubs.
What's a Leonard Nimoy ?

My boyfriend banished me from his room for a week (it lasted a day though) because I squeed so hard to this vid. Lol!

Nimoy was deep into the occult. Hobbits by the way were considered evil. Dragons? Goblins, trolls? Heard enough.
he thinks hes so cool... and he is

Do you have a copy of the full episode?
The guy who introduces Leonard Nimoy I believe is Ricky Nelson
Some of these girls are smokeshows!

If you took away the vocals and only had the instruments, it sounds like the song could be in a video game, like Banjo Kazooie.
there is a better version in color you know.
So, it was basically a commercial for those giant-ass buttons?
well i say that just because his singing about LOTR
For everyone who says its bad...i think its supposed to be..i mean who could actually think this was seriously meant to be a good song? Its like a parody, sort of.
@dragynslare probably because of this song.
@Bartman954
Why? This song is amazing if a girl can't love this song then her loss.
I wish I was puffin on my pipe in my hobbit hole...
they were hobbit ears, nearly twice as large as elvish ears
Soooo bad, it's good.
they can make music videos like that, but they still wouldn't play it on mtv. i mean, when was the last time they actually played a video? lol
yeah!!! .. i can dig it man!! hobbitts are like hobbitts man... but only smaller than humans!!
I'm confused as to whether the girls are trying to portray hobbits with their goblin-like ears and strange butt waggling dances.
I think they're trying to portray Vulcans with those ears
WTF
Cool

@CatalinaThePirate Someone put out an album with this on???? Begs the question, why?
And no one ever asked Leonard to sing again. This is one you wish you never heard especially being a fan of Star Trek and JRR Tolkien's writings.
Talk about anal
Too bad it's not in color... Great, though.
wut the hel
Torture!
Please, no...
Be scared, very scared!!!!!!!!!!!! This kind of output is not big and not clever lol
