7:00 tap and hold the ProRes button in the camera app and it lets you change it. But yes, the camera app really does need a ‘pro’ mode. Even Apple used the Blackmagic camera app to record the October event.
I think a good idea is to use the stock camera app exclusively for casual content, and use an app like BMC to record when you want the extra quality
He showed that at 6:17
No he did not, he showed the photo mode option, not what he was talking about before which was pro res log for VIDEO, its super easy to switch once enabled, this video was riddled with innacuracies. Please own a device before commenting on it.
How did I just learn this 😭
Frankly, the "iOS is so intuitive" is total BS nowadays, if it ever was true. My first iPhone is 12 mini and the menu logic is as bad as it was in old Nokia Symbians.
This guy’s obsession with iPhone 13 mini will never end…linus might set up a trap with the iPhone 13 mini and capture him to wash his pink car…that would be an awesome csf video believe me…
alas the Lambo is no more... Dbrand did make it a brightly colored monstrosity tho 2:51

Also, speaking of the camera, a Mac Address video covering the camera app as well as alternative camera apps would be really helpful.
I love that the 13mini keeps getting mentioned :) Maybe some day they'll bring it back...
I hope next year lol 🥲
@@Mikivli the hell? This is like the 4th comment I’ve seen on wanting a 16 mini and that people love the 13 mini, wondering why apple doesn’t help these guys out. I don’t think I’ve seen a single person praising or owning a 14/15 Plus.
as much i appreciate the 13 mini , majority of people do like bigger phones because normal people think bigger= better
so companies like even apple has to follow suit but just like any other company apple is here to make profit
@@ZaryanUrRehmankeeping the 13 and 14 on display is weird though, it's basically the same phone.
at least the mini offers something different to different market
I wouldn't care how massive the camera bump would be compared to the rest of the phone but an iPhone mini Pro would be sweet. Thats pretty much dreaming though when I think it would still be a miracle if they reintroduced the normal mini in the next 2 years or so.
Imagine if this channel was only shot with an IPhone, that would be so cool
Apple did, don’t see why mac address won’t
Imagine transferring ProRes footage from iPhone to Mac. Yeah that’s why they can’t afford to film on iPhone.
@@NguyenTheHoangTeekunmapbeouiPhone 15 Pro support full USB3 transfer speeds it’s not a problem, that’s probably why apple shot the halloween event
that would be soo garbage...
@@NguyenTheHoangTeekunmapbeoudid you not watch the video? They literally spent a minute talking about how easy transferring Pro Res is now
For me I went with the pro for 3 reasons, as I will likely have this phone for the next 5-6+ years and many of the features of the pro feel like they will hold up better in the long term:
1) 120 hz refresh rate
2) high speed usb
3) action button
Additionally as an engineer I love the Lidar for random projects.
In the end I feel the pro will hold up better for resale and the extra features makes the $200 worth it.
And...
Extra 2GB RAM
Always-on-display
A17 Pro chipset that will likely get an additional year of OS updates
3X telephoto lens
All for an additional 170$ over the non-pro model
@@J-my6qj yeah always on display is a huge perk
yep same reasons i did. i notice all my friends who buy the base models have to upgrade every like 1-2 years because their phone gets unusably broken. last time i upgraded was when the 11 came out. it didn't start to get noticably slower than the new iphones until literally this year, so i finally bit the bullet and got a 15 pro. don't plan on upgrading until the 20 comes out.
It amazes me just high a quality your content is and the AWESOME job on camera work and scenes!!!! I think your channel easily gets an A+! I find your reviews very fair and balanced as well.
Once again Mac Address proving to be the best alternative channel to come out of LMG, keep on with the fantastic production.
Imagine spending $1000+ on a color you don't like and can't change instead of waiting for them to restock
The discontinuation of the Mini finally pushed me to import a 13 Mini from the US - and pay way too much to import the official matching leather case. Higher capacity models were seemingly impossible to get here in Canada, and I've literally never seen one of the leather cases in store.
13 mini is no more here in SEA, i had to resort to the used market to get a replacement for my broken 12 mini.
even asked them to check for old stocks in the backroom to no avail.
Got damn. What makes these videos so consumable? The backtrack, the cuts, the natural scenery? Idk but I want a nature documentary
Great video. All excellent points. I just wish the ProMotion display was actually available on the non-Pro model. It's the only reason why I went with the 15 Pro. I plan on keeping this for 4-5 years, though, and just replace the battery every 2 to 3 years. So I guess it's not too bad.
Congratulations, Apple did their job. They got you to spend more 👌🏼
youre the exact reason they dont put the 120 hz on the cheaper phones
Man and it sucks, my laptop is 165hz, my monitors are 240hz and 160hz, my TV is 120hz but then I looked at my phone and felt “why does this look so damn juddery” enough for me to go from a 11 with 65% battery health to the 15 Pro, but like he said if the screen on the 15 was even 90hz I would’ve bought that black instead.
@@RolandKoller90 I do not and will never understand why people don't get the discounted 14 Pro since its basically a 15 with a 120hz display for the same price. You don't have to pay more for a usable phone. But i guess people just want the newest stuff.

The quality of Mac Address is driven so well, the editing, the music drop at 1:40 . So pleasing
Not the o my such sound drop here either, the episode overall is very well made
Final Cut provides the Apple Log conversion lut with it's latest update. This one I prefer because Apple Log can convert to HLG and the REC 2020 color space pretty accurately. You get a "REC 709 image" but inside REC 2020. So when you add your own look with color wheels, for example, you can take advantage of the extra color space info. And if you export in HLG, the file will be compatible with both SDR/REC.709 and HDR standards
100% agree. I upgraded from a 12 pro max to a 15 plus because I just didn’t think I’d actually use the pro’s pro-ness. The only reason I got a 12 pro max originally was because I love big phones, but now the plus is a thing then that’s all I need!
Mac address has been killing it. The editing quality is perfect in this video, the colors and my favorite the music!!!!!! The music is great!!! . This is a A+++ Ltt video. So glad I watched.
I just love the whole production of these videos. Good job 👍
I like that Mac Adress videos are shot outdoors!
I watch the channel mostly for outdoors footage - that way I'm getting tech insights and imagining that I'm touching grass at the same time!
I’ve recently picked up my 13 mini again to field test an app I’m developing, and the more I use it, the more I’m considering switching back it it full time from my 14 Pro. It’s just so damn comfortable and I hate it 😂
One of the most amazing things I've experienced using iPhones for video capture was collecting footage from my friends on a trip who were all using iPhones and suddenly I had multiple cameramen and additional audio sources to boost audio when someone was speaking across the room away from the main camera. It was a blast to edit together.
I'd love to see an in-depth episode on finding the right display for MacBook. Especially addressing native, best for display and scaled resolution options, and what looks actually good with different PPI due to scaling quirks in macOS. If not going to 5k display, is 4k really the next choice with scaling to 1440p, or is it better to get 1440p display and run it at native resolution, get high refresh rate as a bonus? There are lots of opinions, blogs, but ultimately... what's the best compromise if you don't get studio display ? :D -- ultra wides like 21:9 is also interesting topic here since there are no $$$ alternatives.
man I feel like the production really stepped up a TON on this video! Cinematography was on point!
its so sad the 13 mini has disappeared, waiting to see if there's any good clearance deals to possibly have a back up one for 2 years time...
The video I needed! THANK YOU for making it an easier choice
The production quality of these videos ❤
As always, great video and beautiful scenario. It’s much appreciated that you bring an effort to expose the viewers to considerations rarely considered on most Apple CZcams content
I set the action button to run a shortcut that does different things depending on the orientation of the device. This is probably the best thing to do with the action button as opposed to setting it to one single action
one of the few lmg channels i'm still subbed to. love the tone of this channel.
So glad you mentioned the iPhone 13 Mini!
I mean most of your pro camera gripes have already been solved by the blackmagic camera app. I think as someone that has dabbled in the "real" camera world, I have gone back to the "the best camera for the situation is the one you have" and I always have my phone. Meanwhile my mirrorless is only remembered on very special occasions and then it becomes cumbersome because it has a whole separate bag. So for me the transition to usb c and fast usb c with the high end camera package, makes it worth the excessive price, plus the 5x on the max is the icing on the cake. Doing things like log is another nice bonus, I can tinker with more of the high end settings if I want but can quickly switch back.
This exactly! Honestly bummed that Mac Address failed to mention the Black Magic Camera App since they seem to have this juxtaposition that if Apple themselves didn’t make it, it’s not good.
I really the 15 Pro Max. I upgraded from the X. I’m a huge fan of high refresh rate screens and repairability, specifically the battery. I replaced my Xs battery and got another 2 years from it, so I expect to do the same with this one. Also, with inflation, the X’s starting price of 1000 is a little more expensive than the PM’s 1200. I would highly recommend to anything older than a 12!
Upgraded from a 12 Pro - I really wanted to like the regular 15, but the lack of pro motion is a deal breaker once you’ve gotten used to it.
1:50 I really do wish they add this functionality in the future. It would be killer. It would make the 15 Pro really versatile for me.
I think you can do that with shortcuts. Not sure if you have to confirm your action on the screen tho. There are tutorials here on YT
@@imeann... ah cool I'll give it a shot.
I upgraded from an XR to a 15 Pro in black this year, and I have no regrets (aside from wishing I had gotten natural finish instead of the black). So happy to finally have a USB-C iPhone, and I really wanted the Pro for its better cameras, always-on display, and the new action button!
title has it all. upgraded from my 11 Pro that was 3.5 years old to the base model 15. feels like a major upgrade, love the dynamic island. would be nice to have 120hz, but it's not worth the extra money for me. the color infused matte black back is beautiful
iPhone is like jewelry or luxury brand. It being expensive is part of the sell (same thing with all "flagship" phones or even more so for something like the galaxy flip)
I had an iPhone 13 mini, went to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and immediately went back to the 13 mini after 2 weeks. I’m not a pro videographer and I just want something portable to use. I do need a big screen iPhone for work (no androids allowed for whatever reason) but I’d rather spend $1000 CAD on a decent used iPhone 13 Pro Max with a new battery than $2100 CAD+ on a 15 Pro Max.
Android phones are forbidden because they are unsafe easy to hack. Iphones are very secure
Bloody hell this channel's cinematography is just absolutely divine to watch.
My 13 mini is doing fine. Its still too big for my preference but its the best I'll get out of Apple for a while by the looks of it. Lumia 925, I miss you so.
hey, another mini and lumia user!
too bad windows phone got axed, they had the best UI/UX
As a first time Apple user, I bought the SE3 last year. Wanted to upgrade to the 13 mini, then Apple dropped it from their line up. Worse, Amazon and John Lewis were selling the mini and 13 at the same price. Bought the full size 13 from Apple in Product Red. Same chip as the one in the 14 but nicer colors than the 15. The blue Titanium is a beauty on the 15 pro and I used my friends one when he got it.
Some of the stuff on the 15 Pro is really nice to have, but for me, it's the USB 3.1, I'm still using my iPhone XR, which I've had for almost 5 years now, and I expect to keep the 15 Pro for at LEAST as long. IMO the faster USB will justify itself the moment I set up the phone restoring it from the backup of my old phone, it's going to save me SOOOOOO much time, and it will save me a bunch of time EVERY TIME I backup and sync my phone to my Mac. Over the course of 5 years, that should more than justify the cost, and probably improve how often I actually backup my phone because it will be so much more convinient.
Frankly, Mac Address is the only good thing left about LTT / LMG.
And it is good! Great even.
I have my 15 Pro since the beginning of October and LOVE IT. I did switch from the 11 Pro and I had to get used to the bigger size and camera bump. I did get a 3rd party leather case in "Saddle brown", because Fine Woven is crap. I really love the looks of the natural titanium, but will have to get a watch which will fit the phone better colorwise :D I did not have any of the issues that is blown up in the media and the battery life lasts a whole day - mind You the phone is used in my work as a tech support so lots of calls a day. When it comes to the cameras, it is a huge upgrade from the 11 Pro. All in all I am very satisfied with the 15 Pro :)
How exactly is it a huge upgrade. I upgraded from the XS and don’t notice this big of a difference.
@@interceptor001120 Hz display, AoD, much faster SoC and more apps stay open without reloading, USB-C - faster image/video download via wire and local backups are so much quicker (I use GDrive and not iCloud). The cameras are double the resolution and it has night mode on every camera, and and and...
My switch was from the 11 instead. And I feel that the jump to 15 pro is fairly justified if your upgrade cycle is at least 4 years.
Great video. Just watched on my 13 mini. Also love that forest park. We visit it all the time! Keep up the great quality Apple videos!!
I mainly got myself the 15 pro on launch day because of the wider support for usb c devices than with the regular model. I'm a blind user so the camera and graphics don't meen much to me but I was already using the pro model before this because the lidar scanner enables some useful real world accessibility features like door detection, point and speak, and the world channel available in the seeing AI app.
The production value of these Mac Address videos are sooooo goood. Loving it.
I love the spigen cases - I’ve had one on every phone since my iphone X
The MagSafe is very strong too!
I enjoy my 12 mini. Will try to keep for as long as I can. Hoping they might bring it back for the iPhone 18/19 when its time to switch.
The 12 mini has the perfect dimensions… (better than my 13 mini, since it’s thinner and lighter)
I’ll be upgrading to the 15 Pro from my iPhone 11, finally feels like a substantial enough update.
OLED, Pro-motion, Type-C, AOD, action button, general performance.
Honestly feel like this one will last me 5+ years this time round.
Hehe, I’m on 15 pro 256 from an X
I got the Pro Max for a few reasons:
First off - USB-C (I mean COME ON, Apple/iPhone finally came around, I never thought I’d see the day)
Second - I haven’t owned a flagship iPhone since the 6s and I was absolutely over compromising with the cheapest option
Third - The quality is absolutely mint, the hand feel is amazing and for someone who drops phones like crazy, this phone is much more grippy. This is the first gen in a long time that really FEELS like an upgrade. I’ve had the 11, the 12, and the 13 - not one of those had a noticeable upgrade in my daily usage. The frame change from 11 to 12 was the only thing I ever really understoon This phone brings me joy whenever I use it, because it is sooooo snappy, and now that my home is setup,it just WORKS. Flawless light control, flawless TV control, flawless automations and shortcuts. It’s just so useable.
Fourth - I have migrated to an Apple ecosystem, and I will be damned if I’ve spent many hundreds of dollars on smart home products, the Series 9 Watch, and an iPad (not to mention the fact my spouse is also Apple to the core) just to make their functionality shiyy
Actually glad for the sponsor, that phone case looks amazing!
I would go with the pro max. There’s a lot of features you don’t use very often but with leasing and upgrading packages the price is a bit easier to stomach and when you need a feature knowing it’s there is great.
I want one for Log video recording. That's it. I'm willing to switch from Android just so I have a pocketable camera that shoots decent quality log. Crazy I know
me too!
Been using my 13 mini since launch. Gonna use it as long as I can.
Last year, I wanted to upgrade from my iPhone 12; the pro models are too expensive for what they offer over the regular ones, for me. So, I went for the 14 plus.
Couldn’t be happier tbh…
I looked at the new pro models this year, tbh those smoother edges are a minute change, not as noticeable as everyone claims. And then there are cases!
The base titanium colour looks gorgeous tho!
i would own the 15 Pro 1 tb black model for performance reasons alone and some remote desktop work (no laptops, never laptops)
I upgraded from my og launch iPhone 13 Pro Max. The the charger port no longer worked and instead of paying for a fix, I just took advantage of switching to a new carrier and trading in. Tbh, I really like the usb c port, it’s so much better now. But I still wonder if I should’ve just gone with the regular 15…
it's fun how now mac address is the only lmg channel i consistently watch
Tbh the cameras are getting so good that if you like taking pictures as a hobby getting a pro max might be a good idea depending on the type of picture that you take, since even my dad that was an old type of photography person that he had a dark room in his previous house has now switch to the iphone pro max as his travel camera since the Leica that he had just took marginally better photos and he mainly uses the photos as backgrounds even though he bought a bunch of frames to hang the pictures he likes the most. with this I mean that an iPhone pro could also be a hobby tool if you like photography since the difference between a iphone 15 and a pro is less than a new camera and you won't need to carry a bunch of lenses.
I have big hands, so the 6.7” display feels normal to me. Though I had been conditioned to using a large footprint phone since 2016 when I used an Asus Zenfone 3 that has a 5’5” display with a footprint similar to the 13 Pro Max that I now use. My two phones that I used in between were the Pixel 2 and iPhone Xs. They were really compact. And I did love using them. So when it was time to get a new phone, I did the jump to a big phone again. At first the 13 Pro Max felt gigantic, though I did have fun how humongous it is, overtime I just got used to the size. Now it just feels like an average size phone despite how massive it is.
The Zenphone 3 had a five feet five inches display? Gosh.
I have to say the quality of this video is in my opinion amazing. Well done on making this look and feel like an apple channel I am an Android user but I do follow apple development because I support executives who all use apple products. I generally think you have the perfect match for what my apple ecosystem users are looking for. Again well done!
I will be going from a 12 to the 15 non-Pro in the new year. Nothing about the Pro model seemed to justify the extra price for me.
I would get the regular 15 because I don’t do much on my phone but the USB C charging is a game changer!
extra camera options including external recording are great ideas, but i just got the 14 PM so i'm stubbornly sticking with it. when i need a new phone those features will be more mature anyway. i want to get at least 5yrs out of my phone. extra gaming power is a nice to have but i don't mobile game much anyway.
I have a 12mini that's working great (and have been for 3 years), but seeing 13mini starting to dissapear from stores i bought one for safekeeping, don't really like the new and bigger Iphones :(
I went for a 15 Pro Max (in Blue, which may explain why I didn't have to wait...) primarily for the Telephoto camera as it will allow me to leave my Nikon DSLR at home but still take close up photos of distant stuff. I was upgrading from a 13 Pro. One feature I especially like is the image stabilisation; my Nikons are too old to have this which really affects image quality on long range shots so I don't need a tripod now...😎
I specifically waited for a purple 14 pro max to become available last year.
Turns out? Due to the case I don't get to see it anyways so the color doesn't matter at all 😂
Mines also blue 😂
Sold my 14 Pro Max 256 for the same price as what I had left in mortage on it. Bought a refurbished 13 Pro for 600 Euros. Cut my monthly cost in half. Just like that. And I still get 6GB RAM and A15 and RAW photos. And most importantly: 120Hz
Here in Mexico the iPhone 15 Pro is $24000mxn or just about $1350USD. VAT here is 16% so it should cost $1160, but Apple only updates prices whenever the parity between the USD and MXN is bad, and not the other way around...
3:40 you don’t need a specific LUT. Apple Log is ACES. You can just do a color space transform or edit in ACES.
This is a surprisingly good channel, great presenter.
why surprising?
the best way to use the action button is to create a shortcut that does multiple actions that you can select.
0:36 I mean, it's not though. It has a TINY LAYER of titanium on top of the aluminum shell. Not only does the titanium ONLY exist to increase the price, but it actually ruins the structural integrity of the metal and makes it less flexible and WAY easier to shatter the glass.
Upgraded to the 15 last week (from the iPhone 8 which was basically dead at this point) so I'm really happy with this.
One of the biggest reason to buy the Pro was the action button and the camera. I used Android phones before and not having a secure possibility to launch the camera with gloves on or one handed almost killed the OS swap for me.
I just hope I wont regret the decision.
Why I ordered the 15 pro:
- its a mediocre 3d scanner (which is great, since good ones cost 10x as much)
- the action button can become a macro button, activating a hand full of different home automations
- usb c, the biggest reason. Not for Data, but just for being able to carry around one fewer cable.
I've used my quite used up iphone 11 for as long as possible, to then be able to jump to usb-c, the rest is just my reasoning for the pro model.
as someone who uses a oneplus as my daily phone (and an iphone as a workphone) I wouldn't want to replace the ringer switch with a button as I won't have an intuitive knowledge of the ringer status since just touching the switch when physical tells where it is whereas just a digital button is a useless tell
Imo the iPhone settings in general need a rethink. Hopefully that will become a focus next year.
I agree with that was said, but my iPhone 11 was really starting to kick the bucket, so I bit the bullet and got the 15 Pro. Definitely worth it
Upgraded 12pro to 15pro great one handed liked it alot but fomo got me so then upgraded again to 15pro max an it is great, works good for me one handed as long as I have thin case, feels great in hand with new weight savings an distribution across center of device, Cameras are huge upgrade, screen is major difference, definitely worth it if your looking for new phone an have 13pro or older, 👍👍video
I'm an Android user for many years. I've not had a iPhone since the 3Gs, and basically upgrade every 2 years.
Yet, I have no problems sitting down even though my 15 Pro Max is in a case.
I have to agree about the camera app settings.
00:46 Fyi, it's not a titanium frame, it's an aluminium frame with a thin strip of titanium around the outside edge.
1:35 literally what they told me yesterday at an Apple Store in Vienna lol, looks like nobody likes the blue
Rolling along with an SE2! and am quite happy!👍
I went with the 15 pro because the always on display was important ti me. Also I like tying the action button to the camera
Could you pls consider doing a video on whether iPhones really need a screen protector or not?
the Shaw Spotlight jacket is neat, like a sort of Easter egg.
True. I'm the right customer for the 13 mini....which I'll be keeping probably until LTE gets shut down at this point.
You've slightly reassured me that my jump to the Pro Max (mostly for the camera) was an okay decision.
The Blackmagic design camera app for iPhone is everything you could ever want. Trust me.
I will admit the pro video features would be nice to have. Gonna stick with my 13 mini though.
As an iPhone 15 pro owner, I feel you made the right choice.
I love spigen cases and the colours on these new ones are just gorgeous.
Can't wait for people to stop making everything look like the nothing phone backside though
i got a nice cheap case that had been made for the 14pro.9 dollars and perfect fit for 15 pro.
I use my XS telephoto a lot. It costed me CAD $119 to have battery changed. Moving to $15 Pro would costs way more. Moving to 16 would be a downgrade due to loss of telephoto. It is a shame there is no option for a 15 with telephoto instead of the useless (to me) ultra wide angle since the default lens is already wide angle.
Since everyone uses a case on iPhone, its bare metal finish and colour is moot since always covered.
Same reason I got blue, it was the fastest one to ship
Ordered the Pro this morning, waited two hours at the mall for my order to be ready before going home and cancelling my order. I realized the 15 was enough for what I need coming from a 12 Pro, and so I ordered the 15 and am using it now.
Did you feel any noticable changes from the 12 pro when it comes to performance and battery life?
Did the exact same thing (also had a 12 pro) - I'm very happy with my 15 non pro, hope you also will be!
Using the action button for your camera is the best option by far
Even as a phone nerd, I think I'd still go with the regular 15 this year
Hey Mac address, i am currently looking for a new laptop. I am looking at the m1 and m2 macbook air which should i go for. a thing that really pulls down the m1 for me is that it doesnt have magsafe.
love your videos :)

* fails to mention the FREE Black Magic Camera App *
I finally upgraded after a XR to the 15 pro. Absolutely love it. Do I need the pro over the regular 15? Probably not. But if I’m keeping it 4-5 years, I don’t think the $200 up charge is going to hurt too bad (plus this is probably the last year they are $999, I bet they are $1099-1199 soon but come with 256gb standard)
