Still completely blown away by the "Apple-esque" production quality and style of these videos. Keep it up Jonathan!
Ikr, I forget this is LLT
Jonathan is a great presenter, yes. And by no means I want to substract from that. But let's not forget the shooters, editors etc. They are doing a damn fine job making these Mac Address videos so "Apple-esque" as well :)

You get a Magsafe, and YOU get a Magsafe! * hands Magsafe to Samsung users 😂 *
SAME SAME SAME SAME SAME
@@Antphoneigh Actually if the Samsung phone in question has Qi charging capabilities they should still be able to use it to wirelessly charge their Samsung phone however they won’t be able to take advantage of the MagSafe capabilities!
I love Jonathan’s style and how the style has developed so quickly. Just, this is a really good channel.
This is what I wished LTT had grown into.

There is a certain vibe with the creation of this video that separates it from other ltt videos. I like the fresh and clean production quality of your video. Great job!
I dont know if you know this but Mac Address is a channel controlled by Linus Media Group, AKA Linus Tech Tips. They are using cinema gear (and professional editors)
@@Marco-yk8kp I know what you are talking about and I know LMG for years now. What I’m saying is not about the gears and the editors but the overall ideas and look. Would you tell me another channel of LMG that is constantly presenting and shooting outdoors (except channel super fun back then and the car reviews obviously outdoors only)? The vibe of the channel is overall refreshing fitting for an apple themed channel.
@@TheDivinepromise oh yeah of course, its LMG standards.
It doesn't even feel like an ltt video. It feels like something I would see from the verge (shudders)
@@TheDivinepromise you're not very well follower of LTT
That wall mount would be awesome on a cabinet in the kitchen! Being able to read recipes at eye level and not worry it being on the counter to get messy
8:24 "hey brandon!" "Yeah?" "Nod at the camera." "Why?" "Just do it"
A few months ago when I got my 12 mini, I got a knock off MagSafe charger puck off Amazon for about $20. It does the same MagSafe animation and fast 12 watt charging that the official one supports, and even came with a brick. No idea what magic their doing to make that happen, but I’m happy with it. Been stuck to my bed post with double sided tape ever since.
Sauce?
Maybe it’s materials are bad, and it will have very little power, and will die soon, and more fragile
@@austinoneil1229
+1
@@austinoneil1229 links in comments seems to be blocked but it doesn’t matter anyway since the one I bought is currently unavailable. There’s one from the brand xiwxi that appears to do everything the apple one does based on reviews.
As yoda said:
"Product you describe, sauce you give."
And the other famous quote.
"Brand you give, product model you provide".
12:55 in other words, having proper standards disallows a company from doing crappy anti-consumer practices. Like killing any competition that would have driven the cost down by adding a hefty tag for any manufacturer trying to make any compatible products with the device.
Well its quite easy to regulste it...it just require eu and the us to rewrite laws to make it faster and easier to uphold and mange. For example every phone needs to have a universal standard charging standard no if and buts. No special mode for special Phones if you have a technology you have to share it otherwise its a automatic 20procet of yearly income untill fixed alo bans selling of the product.
Ovs it has to be a good implementation and co driven by company's and the government/s
if the iPhone went fully port-less the inefficiency of wireless charging would completely negate the envimorental factors that Apple used to justify removing the power brick
And Samsung and one plus
And is using more material do produce the necessary equipment inside and out side phone to be able to do it so.
They're likely doing it because new EU regulations are requiring USB-C on all devices, which is actually a good idea. Apple doesn't wanna do that so they're gonna ditch the port altogether.
The amount of energy that your phone uses is incredibly small when you compare it to it's manufacturing. The iphone battery holds around 5Wh of energy, so charging your phone for a year is ~1.8kWh. It's estimaded that manufacturing a phone requires 288kWh of energy.
That's why improving manufacturing and recycling is WAY more important then device or charging efficiency.
Ofc it would be best to use phones longer and buy less new stuff. But Apple doesnt like that...
@Liam also trillions of magnets used ...if everyone starts doing it ....which could be avoided if the wire goes in instead of stick on the back
This channel is just so good. Quality Apple content without the shameless fanboy-ism you find on just about all the other brand-focused channels. Well done Jonathan and LMG!
i love mac address, its the best ltt spinoff from lmg
I love that the camera picks up the Face ID infrared blast at 7:00
Apple making faster MagSafe speeds “pay to use” is what will give rise to clone MagSafe NFC chips…
I still can’t believe Apple found a way to make an open source Qi charging, proprietary.
It's Apple they take open source shit and make it proprietary all the damn time. That's all they do anymore!
It’s not what’s proprietary. Anyone can make a Qi charger that will work with iPhones. Their integration into the software is what is what the MFi is for. I think this poor marketing being able to use products that work vs. MagSafe is also pretty sad, but unsurprising to say the least.
Google magsafe nfc tag/chip , and you'll see its already being done. It seems like all it does is give you the magsafe animation? i dont use iphone so not sure if thats helpful.
@@CtrlAltRob from what I know, genuine MagSafe enables 7.5W wireless charging instead of the default 5W, since it’s verified by the NFC tag
@@uninfamous exactly, like I can only imagine people getting confused with what will actually engage Magsafe charging vs just a magnetic wireless charger

As an Android user, those cases are exactly what I've been searching for. Alas, no luck yet
As an s21 ultra user, I searched far n wide n found that... only Moment's s21 ultra case comes with the stronger magnets (they do have cases for other model of Android but I can't guarantee that they'll have them, also there isn't a lot of color/design choices for the Android moment cases). Other cases from like an unknown seller in amazon would just include a stick-on metal ring or something like that. For me however, I didn't buy the Moment case but went with spigen's s-pen case n stuck a metal ring on it (u can buy n use magnet rings instead if u want, but they usually aren't strong imo n that metal ring would just work with any magnetic accessory as some of them use different magnets than the ones magsafe uses).
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the effort you put into these videos. It’s so nice to see that even in 2021 someone can come to a very crowded space (Apple tech videos) and offer a fresh tech with thoughtful, quality production. You’re my new go-to for sending easy to digest but thorough content to family members who don’t quite get it.
This was way more useful for figuring out which MagSafe accessories I want compared to countless other CZcams videos on it. Thanks.
I wasn't sold on the new channel right away, but I like where the concept is heading. Jonathan's personality is really starting to shine through. Keep up the great work!
The wall mount at the end would be amazing when paired with a rfid chip. iPhone Shortcuts can be made to do any shortcut action when they pair with specific RFID chips. So, for example, you could make your iPhone turn on an egg timer when you set it on a countertop holder, or perform home automation tasks when attached to the wall.
Actually can you do a video on the Shortcuts ecosystem, especially on RFID uses.
I love how the channel is somehow completely different from other LMG channels, but still having that humor when it needs to hit. Very informative!!
Man, do I love the polishedness of the videos on this channel. Keep it up!
the Intro is satisfying
Way better than the earwax puke-fest
Awww yeah. Really looking forward to Mac Address uploads
Jonathan, you make fantastic videos with the lmg team. I always look forward to these.
The screw mount might work best in industrial settings where the user could snap it to a wall near where they work. You don't have it to fish it out of a pocket, it's already high up enough for Face ID to work fine. You can use it mostly hands free, and all the swipes to navigate are immediately accessible.
I guess that could work anywhere anyone needs quick and easy access to their phone in a vertical orientation. I'd be interested to hear how people do use them.
What great timing for this video I was actually looking around at I can actually buy to finally use the feature
the production quality on this channel is insane!

I love the style of these videos and how different they are from all other LTT content. Jon and the team really make it their own and it shows!
Been using a magsafe PopSocket for awhile on a magsafe case and it works very well and is detachable
This is my favourite channel to watch when I want to consume Apple content.
Jonathan is very likeable and you can tell that he's honestly passionate about the topics that he speaks about.
2:00 is there something specific you are confused about? Volts times amps = Watts, so 11.13Wh / 7.62V = 1.46Ah = 1460mAh
He's referring to the fact that comparing mAh values is pointless, as different companies rate them at different voltages. One should be comparing Wh values instead.
@@HugoMak Normally USB power banks use a single cell or parallel cells which gives you the typical 3,7V with it's corresponding mAh. Apple seems to use 2 cells in series, so around 7,4v. This is less common and since most USB batteries use 3,7V you can reasonably compare them with it. But yes Wh is pretty much always preferable.
I love that this has great production quality that is totally its own thing from LTT. Jonathan does a great job. I seriously look forward to releases from this channel.
Also music at the beginning is fire
Love the way the sound of the phones clicking to the mag components synced to the beat at the start of the video
Love the video, didn't know there was so much going on in the world of magsafe accessories
God this video editing is on POINT! And the commentary is really nice!!
The quality of these videos is phenomenal!
I like that you're considering and presenting alternatives to the officially Apple certified accessories. There's some really great stuff out there.
Love the sound design on this channel!
This channel is getting better and better. Fantastic host. I’m so glad LTT started making Mac specific content not just for the deep dives, but so the news comes without all the Apple hate eye rolling all the other hosts can’t help but express.
These videos are so good. Please keep it up. You will reach 1M subs in no time. Beautiful work!
Magsafe attach is so good. I added a ASR HaloLock ring to my Pixel 6 case and 3D printed custom mounts for my car. Best thing ever
I bought two of the Anker Powerwaves and absolutely love them!
Fantastic video. As someone who lives in a household with an iPhone 11 Pro and an iPhone 12 mini, I’ve been curious about the MagSafe Ecosystem. Especially the smart battery vs the Anker, MagSafe compatibility for cars, and retrofitting my 11 pro to be compatible in the car.
Oh the magnetic car mount is the first good use case I’ve seen for this. I used to have one for my iPhone 6 but traded it out for a wireless charging cradle for my XS, which I have to put on the passenger side vent so It doesn’t stick out and hit the wheel. Getting it back closer to me so I can glance quicker would be great
This is a really good channel. The Apple 'Style' and Jonathan are amazing! 👍
I have nothing apple, but Iove these videos. I love your style Jonathan!
I own a Essential phone PH-1 and when i used that thing, i don't anymore as it's broken, still turns on though, u get the point, well i had this magnetic charger with pins that were 3D printed, since the essential phone had this magentic accsesory thing with wireless usb 3 for the 360 camera, i used that connector also for charging, which was ofc magnetic, and I'd say, i loved it
MagSafe is amazing, especially through third party accessories. I have a $15 Fully MagSafe Compatible car mount and its feels more scure then any other car mount I've used before and it's integeated right into iPhone and its cases.
Newish channel? I love it. New sub!! Keep up the good work.
Wall mount for iPhone for house setup to control things like nest, sonos, etc. Mounted inside door. And as a backup phone for emergencies. Just winging that! My first thought was Toliet as well!
This channel is so great and I never ever used an Apple device beside an iPod Touch 2nd gen.
Yes !! The last bit
I mounted a “mag attach” with vhb tape onto my bathroom mirror. It’s great when I’m brushing my teeth, blow drying, flossing. Thinking about one for opposite the wc(toilet) now….!
I bought the magsafe battery pack and have been using it for 1 month not. Totally love it.
1:58 1.46Ah × 7.62V = 11.1252VAh ≈ 11.13Wh
Makes perfect sense, what's the problem??
Amp-hours are only comparable when the voltage is the same (which they usually are; Li-Ion 2S is typically around 7.4V), the value you should look at is watt-hours which is a unit of energy.
(1W × 1s = 1J)
The Anker one is only 1S (3.7V), so it doesn't have 3.4x (5A/1.46A) the storage but actually just 1.6x (18.5Wh/11.13Wh).
Yeah I was wondering too... I'm not expecting everybody to have some basic knowledge of high school-level electronics but I feel like tech reviewers should know the definition of DC electrical power
Not an apple user, nor will be in near future because hard to move ecosystem. But these videos so pleasing to watch.
Love the style of Mac Address videos
Picked up (before the controversy) an Anker Magsafe puck with a USB-C connector on the end for my iPhone 12 and it's so awesome to be able to charge my phone without having the cable stuck in the bottom. Now the cable can stick out to the side in between my fingers!
I love this battery. Use it most everyday when i get home just to keep the phone topped up. I haven't plugged the charging cord into my phone for almost a month now. The only reason to plug the cord in is to do a software update, transferring files not handled from the cloud and local storage/backup. So I guess charging is mainly through my MagSafe tree and battery pack.
I’ve try the MagSafe on my pitaka MagEZ case and it works. So android phone in theory don’t even need the special magnets, just correctly placed metal strips.
Cute idea. Only that I have already been using magsafe+ iphone 11 on a magsafe case for almost a year now. I had that setup even before the iphone 12’s shipped
So I know you mentioned your mount as well as moments cases in this video, but would you consider doing a video with a roundup of the best magsafe accessories?
I got a blue Mini. Love it. Hate the fact that everybody slams on the battery. If you just use it like a tool and not a food source, it actually last a long time on a charge. I generally get nearly two days and charge it around 35% remaining. I'm looking forward to even more efficiency when iOS 15 rolls.
Hey Jon
I like you videos discussing all the pros n cons with a overall good balance in between
And yes I agree that MagSafe is great as a nifty feature I usually use a 5W Qi charger for slow overnight trickle so I can save my battery longer
And has for that Moment mount I have a few idea
You can build you own stand
Attach it to something for long hours of Netflix without holding your iPhone or just having something hands free
Give it a try and thx 😁
The Camera guys just blew my mind I somehow completely missed that LMG owns this CZcams channel
Nice Video, I pretty much have the same phone you do, iPhone 12 Mini in Red. When I bought it, I bought mous case for it, as I always do for my iPhone, it also has magnets built in, but is not MagSafe compatible. I really thought it wasnt that big of a deal, now I see all the accessories coming and I kinda regret my decision xD, mous does make nice cases, just for some reason their lineup for the 12 Mini does not have MagSafe except the clear case.
i have the boost 3 -1 its awesome i love it
I have the official MagSafe charger, the ESR car charger you showed, and the Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K, and I no longer use my lightning plug on my iPhone 12 Pro Max! I even bought a plug to block dust from getting in. I think MagSafe is the future of the iPhone.
for the wall mount, it'd be great to attach to a magic arm that you'd then clamp to the basin or the wall in the dark room, allowing the phone to stay high and dry while it times out your wet processes
I agree, Jonathan!
I want to MagSafe case for my iPhone XS Max. That would enable me to use the MagSafe battery pack instead of this worn out case.
I got a magnet replacement kit for iPhone and put the magnets on the inside of the pixel 4 case. Works like a charm. I don't use the official apple MagSafe charge just 3rd party ones. I cant get 12W charging all the time. I just need to find a good car mount. If you want a pic hit me up.
Hi Jonathan, big fan of the content on this channel
The MagSafe battery pack is sounding more and more like a great buy for me. I really really like the fact that it stops at 90% and can also recharge by plugging my phone in.
You could drill the magnet into the wall in the kitchen so that you can see your recipes or watch recipe tutorial videos while you do what you need to do to follow along.
The ease of use is what I really love about MagSafe. I think it’s reasonable to expect Apple to eventually ditch cord charging altogether eventually.
I have been using the belkin charger. It is so convenient for my watch, airpods and phone without cluttering by bedside stand with wires.
Probably will be the future for charging just like wireless headphones instead of mini jack cable
These videos and their style are an absolute premium. Never change. Keep skipping in the office too, that was fun.
I saw Madison in the Rig episode so long ago and how much people wanted her to work for LTT. Now seeing her as the Social Media Coordinator in LTT makes me happy.
I could use the wall mount for next to my bed so I don't have to set it on the 2 inch shelf that's along the wall. I'd have to get a magnet case thing for my 6S, but It would work well. I have a magnet power cable that I already use that I just boop onto my iphone.
I'm not a apple guy but these videos are top quality. I love watching them.
I have a magsafe anker battery pack for my iphone 12 pro max and it works really well. It has a built-in stand too. Since it was half the cost of the $99 dollar apple magsafe battery pack I can deal with the slower charging
1:58 So, 1,460mAh = 1.46 Ah (just divide by 1,000). It's also rated at 7.62v and 11.13Wh. Notice that 11.13/7.62=1.46. That's all there is to it. This works because Wh (watt hours) = Ah (amp hours) * v (volts)
Thats terrible for 100 dollars to be very honest.....
I love the belkin boost 3 in 1
Whats that piece of blue/green plastic for showing where the mag is? Wanna to get one!
Bruuh I need this magsafe attach cases for android phones! That'll be amazing the tripod mount is genius
13:50 I’d stick that to the ceiling above my loft bed to hold my iPhone there, that’d be pretty slick. I have at times taped my iPhone 8 to the ceiling for watching movies and having a more convenient way to attach it would be awesome. Even better if it charged too (Otterbox if you read this please put MagSafe Attach magnets in the defender series).
The last sticky would be an amazing hack for watching video on the plane or for kids in the car
I have the Belkin “tree” charging thing and I must say it is like one of my favorite possessions
I love using MagSafe but I really hate the name. MagSafe on the MBP was awesome. If you caught yourself on that cable the cable would just pop off. The laptop wouldn’t go flying. The socket wouldn’t be damaged. MagSafe with the iPhone 12 is really cool. It feels like the future more so than previous wireless charging (because of magnets). But it really should have just been called AirPower.
Yeah, there's no "safe" element to it like with the MPB. I think the point was to take advantage of the old MagSafe's to create hype at launch. If that was the case, it definitely worked.
That last mount, place it in the kitchen for recipes, videos, podcasts, remote, etc. Keeps it out of harms way while being able to use it during cooking. (Just make sure you either disinfect the phone or wash your hands after using it)
I love that you can still use your phone with the mag safe charger hooked up. Way better than a charge pad
You can still use your phone with a charge pad.
@@RusticRonnie yes but not hand held. I’m talking about laying in bed while on your phone.
But why dont you just plug it in then?
But in that case why wouldn't you plug it in? It's more efficient and healthier for.your phone. I use wireless charging too, but in a case like that you should use a wire
@@alexrevolution7793 how is it healthier?
Mounting that wall mount to something to make a primitive rolling cam setup for B-roll.
I own the belkin 3 in 1 and it’s great! 👍
Bro Review Phone Rebel's Rebel Series of cases which are pretty tough as well as support some sort of magsafe for older phones
The magnetic wall mount would be pretty good for your kitchen if you're cooking something.I never want my phone touching the messy table when im cooking not to mention finding a place where it can stand up(ipad gang with case augh)
I'd like to see a video about iPitaka ans their line of cases/chargers. -cheers
You guys should review mous cases magnet system. pretty sure they do the same thing as the zeera clear one but im not sure, and they also have a large line of accessories that are magsafe compatible.
I found something similar to the belkin boost charger on Amazon that charges it at the same speed but for significantly less and it is black
Uses for the Magsafe Wallmount:
Once home-office is over I'd love to stick my work-phone on the wall and just use home-control as a light-switch on it.
Here is a simple explanation for the battery rating - Power = voltage × current. So let's divide the power 11.13W by the 7.62V, we get 1.460A (1460 milli ampere). The hour is added to the units to indicate capacity, by that I mean, if the battery delivers a constant 1460mA then it would last one hour, hence the 1460mAh rating. Same thing applies to the power rating as well.
