I am just upgrading from an XS Max to 15 Pro Max, and honestly the only real reason I feel like I need to upgrade is because I wasn't thinking very far ahead and got the 64 GB model. If it weren't for that and the large upgrade in cameras since 5 years ago, the XS Max would still be perfectly fine to use today.
The real issue with old iphones are the 60hz screens. While they are capable enough - practically they're just unusable. Anything below the 13 Pro just is not worth considering.
I was gonna get the 15 to upgrade my own XS Max, but lost my job. Fortunately I got myself the 512GB version so I imagine I car rock it till the 16 next year unless my new job makes bank.
@@fVNzOHow does having a 60Hz display make a phone unusable? Maybe not recommended over cheaper android phones that have 90Hz-120Hz displays, but a 60Hz display cannot make a phone unusable. Yeah, I would like for apple to upgrade the 60Hz display to a LTPO that goes up to at least 90Hz, but not a lot of people would notice the refresh rate because mostly everyone, that aren’t tech savvy, does not care.
@@fVNzO “unusable” is pushing it, most people who use iPhones even some who use the pro models don’t notice the 120hz on the screen as a “major upgrade” and can use 60hz just fine, still though criminal for a 800 dollar phone to not get even 90hz but apple knows who buys their phones I guess.
Let's be frank. XS Max is almost at the end of its update life.
My upgrade pathway for iPhone doesn’t follow the usual one or two year pattern because I wait for new hardware or material design changes, and this has worked really well for me. I went from iPhone to iPhone 3G (for 3G), to iPhone 4 (for design), to iPhone 6S (for screen size), to iPhone 12 (for 5G) and probably now to iPhone 15 Pro (for USB-C). The thought of one cable to rule them all is quite attractive for someone who travels often!
You missed out on 5S and 8 which were great.
One or two years is not a "usual" upgrade pattern. Most regular folks changes their phones after 3 years and up.
It's definitely getting longer. I'd say probably the most ideal upgrade path if one started at the beginning would be: iPhone, iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPhone 6S, iPhone 11, iPhone 15
@@macaddress This was me minus the first iphone. Jumped in on 4, got the 5, then then 6s, currently have 11 and looking forward to getting the 15!
@@RideOnTimePH This is the upgrade path I wish I took! 😍
Just going to note that the iPad Mini is capable of 5 Gbit/s USB 3 despite having an A15 Bionic SoC, one generation older than the A16 Bionic found in the iPhone 15 (and last year's iPhone 14 Pro). The iPad Mini apparently has a USB controller chip connected via PCIe to the main SoC.
So the iPhone 15's USB 2 limitation is _partly_ a consequence of the SoC (designed for iPhones/iPads whose Lightning ports limited them to USB 2 anyway), but it's also because Apple decided to omit the solution they'd already used on the iPad Mini.
my 2017 ipad pro has USB 3 with a lightning port, because its got a USB 3 controller chip separate from the SoC. it’s cause they didn’t want to spend the extra $2 for a usb controller chip.
@@stephenmusic69420 I mean, how do you think they make so much money. Theres so many little things that they save money on that it eventually adds up.
gotta have that virtual separation
I hope the 16 has at least 5Gbits/s so I can transfer photos quicker
This channel is such a perfect "Apple-ified" version of LTT. Jonathan and the team have nailed their brand so well.
Agree, it has everything that makes LTT great, but somehow more Apple like. And that is not limited to the devices they cover.
As someone who really doesn't like how LTT makes their videos (I just find their overwhelming volume of advertising does not match the quality of the content I like to watch from them) I'd argue there's enough to make MacAddress rather different from LTT, too. The main being how restrained they are here!
I thought LTT owns this channel
@@SEGACD32XMODEL1 yup its an ltt channel
Nooo, I already noticed a similar false statement from MKBHD. Cropping into the picture before taking the picture does make a difference. First it adjusts its algorithm more precisely to the more narrow scene and chooses different lightning parameters, for example when written text on a more away wall is photographed, then its noticeably sharper zoomed, than cropped after. Also the resolution is artificially scaled to the default resolution. Of course this was not always the same, coming from an 7 to a 14, I only notice this from the 14 doing all that with the computational photography, giving me 12MP images no matter how far I've zoomed in before taking the picture.
Please consider this topic for further investigation in different conditions and scenes, could be an interesting video.
I just wanted to point out that the genshin graphs are most likely capped at 60fps, this is a game setting you can change to 120, and the difference between the pro models should be significant
It still wouldn't be fair because standard iphones are capped at 60.
@@leonro Eh, they showed off the 120hz in the COD graph so either they missed the option (worst case), or it's somehow locked down for all iPhones (which I doubt based on ops comment).
@@black-n-gold Oh, didn't notice that. Then, one way or another it's a silly mistake.
You can do 120fps on ios? I don't recall being able to on the PC version
120fps is only on Genshin for iPad OS.
I'm not a big fan of Apple as a company, but I do like that their phones hold up for 5+ years (as long as it doesn't break). My LG V30 released in December 2017 and it is still holding up. It's my favorite smartphone I've ever owned, tied with my trusty old Nexus 5, which was also manufactured by LG. I'm sad they left the market. If my V30 finally does need to be replaced, I might get a Fairphone 5, as longevity, repairability and longtime support are important to me.
Do you go the custom ROM route to keep the OS updated? The 2-year (maaaybe three) official software support was the thing that really killed my experience with Android
@@goldkirby I've looked into it before, but haven't installed a custom ROM yet, mostly because I'm too lazy to make a backup of my files. But I really should do that soon though. I don't care for the latest features, but security is important :)
The transparent back mod is just something else this generation, thanks to glass infused pigment
Personally I don't find it "stale" to keep the same design. I'd rather something which just gets refined and improved (and supported for a long time) rather than fundamentally changed for no good reason. I like that smartphones are finally reaching their peak. However, I'd like to see more effort put into wearable computers that could replace one's smartphone if one wished to do so (like, I really like the idea of having a bracer computer (basically just a big smartwatch, one that goes along the length of my arm) that replaces my phone, and can stream to a monitor and use a wireless mouse and keyboard so that it can also replace my desktop for certain tasks).
It's a consequence of what made the iPhone so revolutionary. Everything is controlled in software, allowing for the whole phone to be a screen. But then, the whole phone is a screen and there's nothing to make one screen look different from the other.
but then you could also just, not release a new phone model, nobody would complain, a lot less ewaste, less wasted development time and money, It's just better, especially when you consider that new phone releases now bring something tangible to the table every time.
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M You really do not think very hard about these sorts of things do you?
This is an incredibly naive view of the market. A certain amount of people buying the new iphone aren't buying it because they need it, they're buying it because it's the new model. This means the figures each year are different, because after all, they are different products. The only reason apple releases so many phones is because it makes them more money, they just wouldn't do it otherwise. Corresponding with that, this is also means there is going to be more ewaste.
To use a numbers example, because you like those. Lets say over a two year period 100 million units move. Now lets say a modest 10% of those users buy the latest phone.
If there is only one phone released in those two years, its 100 million. But if theres two, one year apart, ten percent of that market is going to buy the new phone when it comes out, they might trade in the old one, recycle it, whatever, not important. That is going to be 110 million units sold over that same two year period, because just 10% of the market wanted the latest model.
If you want to argue that the old models go back into the second hand market, it's not wrong, but that still doesn't change the sale figures.
Especially when we consider what apple is ACTUALLY adding with these model revisions.
IKR, I'd love a really scaled-back AR headset (something like Google Glass, but without cameras or microphone) with a low-powered computer (terminal, email client, text editor and a text-based Web browser like Lynx) and compact mechanical keyboard. Something that would let me write in situations where even a laptop would be too bulky, like on a train. But no, everyone's on the Apple Vision Pro/Meta Quest VR *headset* hypetrain, with all the bulk and expense that entails.
@@wereoctopus im just waiting for cybernetics to happen so i can engage in offline only productivity modding.
i upgraded my old iPhone X when the 15 came out. i got a 13 mini. love my smaller phone. i use the old x as a gps and it feels like a tablet
Good to see some coverage of the origins of the lightning connector and Apple's "10 year lifespan" they appointed to the it. A lot of people seem to have a memory hole when it comes to how annoying the USB connector landscape was at the time with mini, micro and micro-b all being used at once with none of them being the standard.
Yeah, until USB-C came along Lightning was far and away the BEST connector on any phone. Even after that I think a couple of years more of Lightning would have been fine. But for the last few years it has been LONG over due for a migration to USB-C
plus forcing everyone to change would be a rly big hassle if it wasn’t too long after lightning was released
thats true but every apple device supported USB C barring the mac desktops kinda, and the iphone is literally the only thing that didn't it's the same complaint you lodged in the latter half of that comment. Needless, non-standardization, and you might say "it's not a big deal" but apples entire shtick is that they have a good ecosystem, and when you need a special cable just for your phone, it kinda ruins the entire experience of USB C
@@alyx6427 yeah, people RIOTED when they went from the Dock Connector to Lighting (even though that was over due as well) but I DO think they waited too long
@@PAPO1990 yeah i think they were more just holding out to be forced, i’m sure they didn’t wanna give up the 30% apple tax
I upgraded from the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max. The battery life on the 12 was awful because that’s when Apple downsized the battery and said the chips were so efficient you wouldn’t notice…I definitely noticed.
The battery on the 15 is absolutely amazing! I don’t have to charge my phone 3 times a day (battery health on my old 12 pro max was 85% at the lowest)!
Went from a 128GB XR to the 15 Pro Max. When I bought the XR I just wanted something that looked good and would last 4-5 years. After seeing what I've missed out on by having the OLED screen and some of the other features, it's like night and day.
Upgrading from a Xr to an iPhone 14 pro, got a sweet deal on. It 100 euros less than the normal 15. Loving it so far with the always on display. Keeping this phone definitely for the next 4 a 5 years if not longer.
upgrading from my 11 finally. loving the increased quality of the mac address videos. slow and steady wins my viewing time.
I just upgraded from my 12 to the 15 Plus. I had zero intentions of upgrading so soon given that the 12 was essentially future proofed with the updated design and MagSafe, but I was stupid when I got it and only went for the 64GB model. Upgrading from my 8 with 32GB back in 2020, I figured double the storage would be more than enough but I ended up being wrong as the storage was a constant worry for me this entire last year. 3 years between phones is far less than I'd prefer, but I'm really hopeful that this will finally be my 5-year phone given the USB-C and bigger screen.
8:36 I had an iphone 8 so… yes what an upgrade ! The thing that I love the most is the design, rounded edges, matte finish, makes the phone very satisfying to hold.
I've got a 13 Pro, definitely convinced myself to wait and see what the 16 offers, maybe I'll manage to convince myself for another year when that one is released. The only reason to upgrade yearly is because that's when the phone's value is highest and it's easier to sell for more. The previous two times I upgraded because something on the phone stopped working, TouchID/Home Button and FaceID. Nothing is up with my 13 Pro, so things are looking good.
I think you’ll like the 15 Pro. It is not only noticeably lighter, but it seems nearly perfectly balanced. The 15 Pro is balanced in such a way that whatever side of the phone is facing down pulls it down. When it’s in your hand it pulls straight down into your hand, not like the 14 Pro which felt like someone tied a string to the top of the phone and tried to yank it out of your hands every once in a while.
That synchronization between talking rythm and the music at 0:16 was something else
I was thinking the exact same thing. Even rewinded it lol
My dad still has his iPhone 6s Plus that he uses every day for work, and the only reason he’s thinking of upgrading right now is because it doesn’t have some of the LTE band compatibility that makes service a bit better in the USA. It still works fine for what he bought it for. Apple doesn’t make the phone slow down to force you to buy a new one, they slow it down so you can still daily an iPhone for longer (so it CAN last for longer upgrade cycles.)
Watching from an iPhone 15. Great little device, really happy with it so far! It’s a keeper!
i went from my XS to a 15pro max true 5 year upgrade its feeling great. my XS was spotless with 75% battery health
Mac Address is definitely my favorite tech channel, love how calm the videos are
Your videos are just a joy to watch. Love the thoughtfulness in the scripting and flow.
iPhone 8 upgraded to the 15 Pro and definitely hoping to keep it till software support ends like with previous models
8:38 I'm one of the ppl coming to the 15 plus for a 5 year phone. I used to upgrade every year till I got an iPad mini for my phone instead of the 13. Now I've broken that expensive habit & I wanna hold out with this baby as loooong as possible
I switch from a second gen se and I’m really loving the 15! I’m hoping to keep it for the next 4 or so years
I'm only a recent iPhone convert but I feel like the best play is to wait at least 6 months after the new model comes out so you can see what the issues are. Especially since iPhone updates go on for 5-6 years which was definitely not the case with my old Android phones.
i should add that 6 months later will also have proper stock as it sells out in the beginning. my androids get like 3 years of support and a few of them are aiming to increase that number. so i think its in due time. but apple already has the track record for long support
@@KnowThyWeakness While some companies still are stuck on 3 years OS and security support, Xiaomi rn is 3 OS 4 security, Samsung 4 OS 5 seecurity, and Pixel is 7 years of both, being better than even apple in that regard.
I only upgraded because I was tired of my iPhone being the only device I owned that didn't use USB C and my carrier had a free trade in promo. I wasn't expecting to see much of a difference coming from a 13 mini but the screen is noticeably brighter and a lot easier to read in direct sunlight. The camera is also appreciably better. I do miss my mini iPhone though.
i upgraded from the 8 to the 15. i was going to get the 12 or 13 mini but then the rumors of usb-c made me wait all this time, definitely worth it imo.
It looks like my 13 mini with live on for another year.
Only a year?
I’m sticking to my 13 mini also. The size is so convenient, the battery life not that much, but ok.
I'll be upgrading from my Jet Black 7 Plus - its done 6 years of daily service and the original battery is down to 73% capacity -- The 15 Pro Max is what i'll be going for when they are back in stock. This finally feels like the jump I've been waiting for.
My last upgrade had a 6 year gap between models. Hoping my next will be 6+ years.
I’m glad Jonathan now loves the iPhone. Because if he didn’t, I would dislike this video.
But, I don’t think USB-C is the only thing that you should buy it. If you’re buying the iPhone 15 only for USB-C, Don’t buy it.
You’re better off staying with Lightning until the iPhone 16 when the USB-C Hype is over.
I got the 15 pro for work, and I am mostly happy about the usb C connection.
I would buy the next iPhone, if it gets full screen with a under screen camera.
If it had 120 Hz display, maybe, however, I do find the macro lens fairly useful and day-to-day usage
Upgraded from 13PM to 15PM. USB-C was the gamechanger for me, no more blowing up my laptops USB-C ports when accidentaly plugging in the lightning connector end in the dark
I don't think I'll ever buy a non-Pro phone, but lords, I absolutely love the pastel blue and green.
I’d say it’s more white with a hint of colour.
Just upgraded from XS Max to iPhone 15 Plus. The XS Max still worked great, the switch to usb c and getting the pro features without the pro price is what made me finally decide to upgrade. I have no need for fast data transfer over a cable or a third camera lens and can’t tell a difference in pro motion on the small screens only see it on 12.9 inch iPad Pro honestly.
Upgraded from the 8 Plus to the 15 Pro. Wanted features like precision tracking, sharing Airtags, and the face scan tech for certain apps I need to use. I found standby mode and the improved camera a great bonus.
Omg.. ip8 user. I feel u. I upgraded last yr from ip8 to ip14p
@@sopek1427how is the battery with the 14?
FINALLY 7:33 a video where we talk about not taking advantage of the luxuries that Pro models offer. If my 14 Pro Max wasn't exactly a regular 15, that's what I would have gone with simply because it's lighter and the regular iPhone is feature rich.
U r added to my favorite reviewer list! Awesome job!
I use an 11 and still feel like there is another year left in it. I bought it 6 months after launch it is at %75 battery life. I need to charge it 2 times a day with +6.5 hours screen time and it still feels good. I enjoy using it.
I have an 11 pro bought on launch month back in september 2019. I replaced my battery a month ago and it feels as good as new now. i was at 79% battery health. i think itll last another 3-4 years with this new battery.
Battery replacements are the ultimate iPhone upgrade
Battery replacement definitely helps, but my personal biggest gripe is insufficient amount of RAM. For my 13 mini when I use the camera app, there almost a guarantee that the previous app I used is going to reload and there is also some lagging in between. Very annoying if you want to quickly take a pic and then maybe use it in the previous app or some other multitasking. Feels like I am using 5 years old android phone
Yeah, I keep my phones for a long time. I was using an XS until a couple of months when I got a hand-me-down 12 that I'm loving
This is a beautiful video i have ever seen on Tech. Keep up guys.
I upgraded my iPhone 6s Plus to iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it is the best decision I ever made.
For me, the actual reason for upgrading to the newer iPhone is USB-C since my devices (including my Android phone) use USB-C and I don’t want to carry another cable for charging my devices.
Having USB-C is a game changer for me, and it is a fastest decision to switch to the newer iPhone than before.
And, I have to say, it is one of the best iPhone experiences I have ever experienced, except, of course, the 3D Touch.
The only downside of USB C or any USB is the possibility of the internal connector to bend and broken. Lightning doesn't have that 'internal connector'.
I’ve been wishing apple would do a version of Samsungs DEX since Samsung came out with it. iOS/macos seems like the perfect solution for that and I like the idea of my phone being my main lightweight computer.
Absolutely amazing video format and quality ❤
The Ubuntu 22 thumb drive on an iPhone at 2:20 caught me off guard😆
7:04 I feel you on that Jon! My 04 Accord just hit 174K miles. I plan on hanging onto my 12 mini for a bit. I’ve had it for two years and change. If I had to upgrade now to a 15 model, I feel like the 15 would be all I need, not a 15 Pro. The 48MP sensor sounds like it would get the job done.
I used my last iPhone (regular 12) for 3 years and upgraded to the 15plus because I now use it for work far more and am not always near a charger and can’t carry a bank in my job - the battery life is my reason for upgrading and I hope to get at least another 3 out of it, hopefully longer!
Don't think you'll get more than a year with the non pro, sorry, Apple just isn't a great company.
I was thinking of upgrading to the 14 last year from my 11 because I usually go 4 years between upgrades. But then all that stuff about the EU forcing Apple to switch to USB C came out and so I held my breath. Luckily they switched to it this year and not next year, so I finally upgraded. Faster USB C speeds and the Action button convinced me to get the Pro. So happy I finally upgraded. My old 11 was so bad it basically couldn’t charge with a cable anymore. Had to use old slow wireless charging pads to keep it alive. And now MagSafe charges my whole phone in like an hour. The difference and new quality of life is insane.
Picking up my 15 on oct 20. Been using xs and i love small phones. So excited!
I upgraded from a galaxy note 10+ to the 15 pro, mainly because as good as that phone was and my one off fling with android was fun for a while, I rooted the phone once and things I expected to work after going back to stock, didn’t. NFC Payments, banking apps, and even Samsung fitness all refused to work when it was de-rooted, meanwhile in the past, I couldn’t jailbreak an iPhone and whilst some of those features wouldn’t work jailbroken, one restore back to the unjailbroken state and I was good to go again. I do miss sideloading and the Niagra launcher, but this is so much more stable for me and my family’s apple oriented workflow 😊
I upgraded to an iPhone 15 from the iPhone X and I’m fairly happy with it, although it’s not that much different. Just better in more subtle ways really, better performance, a battery that’s not worn out, and a better camera.
Great video as always ! I would love for Apple to reintroduce a white iPhone, since the bezels are so small now ! And while I do love the switch to USB-C, I'm gonna hold off for the iPhone 16 next year hoping that they put the "new" A17 Bionic inside, to get the much needed transfer speeds that the Pro has thanks to the dedicated USB3 controller inside the chip.
Upgraded from regular 12 to regular 15 mainly because of battery, decent upgrade I think this will last 5 years easily
Work in a factory and my phone needs to fit in a buttoned chest pocket with a case. Last phone was 1st gen SE, current is 13 mini. Hopefully it lasts long enough for apple to bring back a mini/similar size in a couple of years
RIP iPhone Mini. Miss it.
8:31, im one of those people who wait over 5 years for phones. rocking an iphone12 and might wait till 16 to upgrade.
5:44 on the 15s digital zoom does DOT decrease the image quality because images are binned from the 48mp sensor to 12 or 24 anyway so zooming in actually is higher quality than cropping later unless you shoot raw
Im upgrading from the 14 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max this year. I love new models. The normal ones (pink specifically) even more
Upgrading from from the 11 tomorrow, can't wait!
I just got my first iPhone and it is the 15 256 gb. In my opinion it is perfect ! I absolutely love it ❤
yes, I have the 11, and was reckoning on waiting one more year
My wife is upgrading from the XR, which she got second-hand. This should hopefully last around just as long, if not longer. The main reason for upgrading was that it was finally getting slowed down and running out of storage despite her best efforts. I personally will stick with Android, but I am impressed with how long these phones can last if you simply want them to.
I am upgrading my iPhone every year because of the subscription model we have in our country. Its a smartphone subscription that our carrier has - you sign a one time contract and pay a 24 month monthly fee, but can change your phone to any other phone every 9 months with ability to simply refuse to upgrade and finish paying those 24 months.. Your older phone is then sold as a used unit, with usage categories (from A to C). If a phone is expected to get screwed up like Jet Black iPhone 7 back in the day, it was alright to change it for another anyway. So, its normal for people to carry their phones naked, because usual scratches are a normal thing to have. We even have this kind of subscription for Mac - every 24 months, we are offered to change our Mac for the newest one if we want. And like with the phone, the old one is being sold under ''used'' category. This is fantastic.
100% agree tapping the dynamic island should bring up the widget and holding should open the app
Ok, I am still using an 5se, even if there are no actualizations anymore, I changed the battery a couple of times and it is still functional.
The nice thing about 24mp photos is that photos you take in landscape can be cropped and used for your phone wallpaper whilst still looking crisp
i just happily upgraded from the iphon 8 to the 15 pro and I'm exited to be using the new features
I have the 14 pro still. Probably won’t upgrade until the 16. usb c won’t be going away anytime soon
I really wanted to upgrade from my iPhone 12, but the many hardware issues that have been reported made me reconsider it completely and wait for the 16 to see if they’re fixed by then.

I have an iPhone SE 2020 and a 12 mini whose speakers are dead really excited to upgrade
Still on XR, waiting for 16, tbh I opted for more storage, and normally after 4 years is where things started being overfilled and I’d have to start managing space, but not having to do that, with the phone battery still lasting me through a regular day, I’m not in a hurry to upgrade
Same, iOS 17 introduced some delay in opening some app but I'm still very happy with the XR, and I'm honestly just waiting for another XR. For the snap shot every now and then the XR is still more then enough.
I was thinking of doing the same too. I had my XR battery replaced last year thinking I’d use it for another 2-3 years. But I had moisture in my phone and faceid went glitchy. And when the local Apple Store had the 14 pro on a discount I just went and got it. Still got good money from selling my XR too.
Had the iPhone 7+ but it was getting veeeery slow, so I upgraded to the 13 when it came out, with the intention to upgrade to the next iPhone that has a Type-C port. I got the 15 Pro a couple days ago, it's nice the finally have a standard connector.
I'm upgrading from iPhone XR to iPhone 15 Plus. I'm so excited to get mine next week (hopefully)!
I'm still using my 8+. I refuse to use a phone with a hole in the screen but finally having usb c is really tempting. For n I w I'm just using my iPad mini as my main device anyway.
I’m still rocking the 7+ was waiting for the 15 pro to come out… was gonna get the 14 pro but then the rumors were saying that the 15 pro was gonna get USB-C so I waited and am finally gonna be upgrading……looking forward to it
Let’s be more honest - they only changed the port because of the EU. Otherwise they could continue to milk the premium for their dongles and locked port.
I recently moved from the new every two to a five year holder, so I’m gonna wait till my 12 pro max is a little older, I do like those features of the usb c though
I do like how the old lightning port used to match the bolts and speaker grill. They can be modded but it's a neat careful detail.;

In my country the iPhone 15 costs more than USD 1000 ( 990 € ), so it's a no no from me...
Last gen Pixel (7a) here I go...
Or get an SE3. Faster chip, longer iOS support, 5G fresh battery.
I love your videos. Keep it up!
As somebody with an 8 year old phone (iPhone 6S), I'm gonna go Pro over the non-pro this time so it's more likely to hold up for another 8 years, especially finally getting USB C 😄
Also, every single phone I've ever had has had a different charging port! First, a flip phone with a random proprietary port, then the 4 with the 30 pin, 6S with lightning, and now 15 Pro (when I get a chance to get to the Apple Store) with USB C!
Got mine on the first week itself. Never had a single doubt.
I'm planning to keep it for the next 5 years!
BTW I'm new to Apple and I still don't get why they offer only 5GB iCloud!!!
The XR was my first iPhone. This year I upgraded to the iPhone 15. I think I truly will keep the 15 for 5 years again. It's worth it on the long run.
Digital zoom has advantage of adjusting focus and exposure on only the parts of screen that are in frame. (there are ways to manually do this on full frame to adjust only on areas of interest but digital zoom is often faster and less clusy).
On the 15, a 4* digital zoom on a 48MP sensor will give you an effective 12MP image which is same recorded resolution as previous generations that has 12MP sensors. a 2* digital zoom on the 5 will yield better resolution at sensor level than a 2* zoom on a XS or subsequent Pro models that have optocal zooms on a 12MP camera. The question is whether the optical components of a wide angle will yield a digital zoom of equal quality as a "telephone" lens (not quite vecause the iPhone's telephoto lenses are still "wide angle" by treal standards).
In terms of colours: since the colour of the phone is dictated by the protective cover everyone puts on, the actual colour of the phone is moot since nobody every sees it, except when you have to swap SIM cards oh wait, Apple is doing away with those !).
Love the video! Don't love the main talking point of plugging everything into the iPhone. You could literally do that before with lightning accessories or a lightning to usbc adapter. This is more of a win for the Pro models because of transfer speeds. Not that big of a change in terms of function and what's possible.
Well, I have iPhone 12. Thinking to update for a few reasons,
1. iPhone 15 has base storage of 128gb which is just unexplainably good. My 64gb model always goes to low storage and waste my time in deleting/ transferring the photos.
2. support for USB-c accessories. Huge plus for me. I carry a DSLR and everytime I had to fetch my MacBook for transferring something quick,
3. I really like what they have done with the frosted glass on the back. It's truly commendable.
that intro was love !
I just put a new battery in my 2nd Gen SE. I have no interest in upgrading for a while longer. I still carry my 8 plus from time to time because I still like it.
That Accord looks like it has been VERY WELL taken care of
I'm on an 11 pro max and I'm keeping hold of it for at least another year. I don't think there's really enough for me yet, but with the X now out of software support save for a sprinkling of security updates over the next year, i expect I might be forced to upgrade next year or maybe the year after.
Yep I got the pro this year upgrading for the basic 11 it’s night and day but part of that is my 11 had seen better days 😂
