I like the format of this. Its nice to have a short and sweet summary of interesting stuff happening around the world.
Thank you!
By the way, you can suggest news topics for the next episodes
This a great format allowing people to see the positive changes in the urban environment across the globe. Would you please cover Manchester and other northern English cities? They are in a struggle for survival with the Westminster government over public transport. This situation is a huge scandal and needs scrutiny.
Thanks! I'm glad that you liked it!
Can you give me more specific links about your urban struggle? That's really interesting
A little more information on the scooter ban in Paris: it's important to understand that for some years now, the city's policy has focused on reducing automobile traffic for reasons of fluidity, safety and the environment. To achieve this, it has invested in cycling infrastructure, metro expansion and other alternatives. The problem with scooters, when you look at the statistics and demographics of users, is that these are people who usually take the metro or are pedestrians. In fact, an increase in the number of scooters on the streets does nothing to change the presence of cars, but means a significant loss of metro users. This has two consequences: on the one hand, the city's objective of reducing emissions is not met, as the metro is the least polluting form of transport in Paris (including infrastructure costs), whereas scooters have a short lifespan and batteries that cannot be recycled. On the other hand, it's a question of capturing customers and therefore significant potential revenue from a public service, the RATP metro, to private services, those of scooters, which will make no investment behind it... The accident argument is also true, and the figures are there: it's a real cost for the health service (public in France), for which the scooter companies are obviously not responsible (In Paris, we all know someone who's had an accident with one). But this "no" can also be explained by the fact that the rules of civility on the road, now learned and integrated by bicycles, are generally ignored by scooters for many reasons. And bike lanes are now so popular in Paris that, at rush hour, a scooter can become a REAL obstacle. In the end, they were just fun, and Parisians used them more on occasion, at the end of the evening, or to go fast on traffic roundabouts (it's very funny, I confirm).
Sounds like the only ones who really needed e scooters are rental services
@@cityforall ahah could not agree more, thanks for the vid!
@@matibuche4897 thanks for being here :) Hope You've subscribed and clicked the bell :)
On the electric scooters thing, has anyone considered speed limiting them? That would lower the chance of severe accidents.
Some cities are doing this, as far as I know
I þink ðat ðat may be hard to enforce
In the EU they are speed limited. Depended on the country between 20 & 25Km/h.
You mean actual HW/SW limit or legislation?
In my country they should not be on sidewalk at all (if they are, max speed should be the walking speed (5kmh)), but nobody follows that law and probably it was never enforced. When they go on the road with cars (as they should) the maximum speed is the same as for cars
Love this series! Keep up the good work
Glad you enjoy it!

or better still, convert the Centralbron/the bridge to the far right of the image
from a totally superflous urban motorway into a sustainable transport corridor,
like they did in Paris along the Seine
(most cyclists just pass Slussen
from/to the top&right of the image and from/to the bottom left&right)
Ðis is my first time watching ðis series. Þanks for uploading.

Why art thou usingst old english 😂
This week the first phase of the Mexico-Toluca train was inaugurated
Thanks for information, I'll check it.
@@cityforall thank you for covering urban news ❤️
Looking good! Worth mentioning in the next episode!
I actually travelled over that bridge in Stockholm today with the new subway cars. The latest is that the region is taking the city to court. Anyway great video. Maybe the tramline in Poland should also be connected by other ways of transport than cars so that even more of the journey could be made without cars? Still, not having cars in the city center comes with other advantages right like less air and noise pollution
As I can see there in Wroclaw there are also bus stops near the tram so looks like it works like real transport hub
PS:

I didn't know they were from the 1890's!
...or is it 1860's your source meant?😮
(I knew the old train bridge was partly repurposed for the metro in the 1950's,
but now I wonder if something major happened ~1860-1890 that i've missed?...🤔)
The article says "1890". I'll add all the sources to the description tomorrow, that will be good for the audience.
What about the opening of MCD3 and MCD4 and the first metro airport connection in Moscow? Yeah, about E-scooters... they killed a 15-year old in my city couple of days ago. These things shold be banned everywhere.
4:30 - sure, let's ban scooters instead of making good cycling infrastructure
That's how democracy works
I live in a city with pretty good bike infra and these rental scooters dumped on bike lanes are a real hazard to cyclists and on the sidewalks they can block wheelchairs users or be a tripping hazard to blind people. Private E scooters are pretty good but the rental ones are mostly used by lazy tourists or drunk students and they aren't really doing a lot against car traffic, most people using them would have walked otherwise
