Scream 6 is the perfect example of a director/writer seeing the criticism their previous work got and actually working to make it better and upgrade it. This movie had so much working against it with the quick turnaround from the previous and Sydney not coming back to it that its insane how it was able to be this good.
Melissa and Jenna are the perfect successors to Neve.
I love Neve but I didn’t miss her in Scream 6, both Melissa and Jenna were phenomenal. Their chemistry is off the charts.
Also I really liked the scene in their apartment at the dinner table when Tara told Sam that she was sorry about everything being said about her and not being able to understand what Sam was going through. Very nice way to connect the character to the actress playing her who was getting real life hatred.
I agree 100%. Neve is a great final girl but there's only so much you can keep doing with the same character. Melissa and Jenna really are the perfect successors, they made me care about their characters so easily that I almost forgot Neve was even apart of the Scream franchise to begin with.
Ya''ll twinks are tripping, the fact that you need 4+ new characters to replace Neve's screen presence shows they aren't as effective. The roles themselves have been done many times and could have been played by any number of actresses, idol worshipping specific actresses is unhealthy and superficial. To then disrespect Neve and her carrying the franchise is incredibly disrespectful.
There was a huge fan of Sydney who said, Neve’s final girl was a moral compass who could do no wrong and was a great role model for all girls. (I would also say a great role model for boys as well but anyways) but you can only relate to her so much. Mellisa isn’t perfect like everyone in the world and her problems / conflicts are demonstrated in front of the audience.
I like the fact that we have a final girl who isn’t really a good person but also not a terrible person. It’ll make her stand out and cement her as a great following leading woman. Plus shes Hispanic which im so proud we final got a Hispanic person in a leading role in horror, seeing that so much other movies have begun to represent other ethnicities

The Carpenter sisters are not believable and the whole Billy's ghost thing is stupid.
With Barerra and Ortega gone for the next one, perhaps they can take it in the direction Craven would have.
Some of the supporting characters are decent, but the Carpenter sisters are awful.
mikey madison is such an amazing actress bc she even fainted in her ghost face costume from heat exhaustion while trying to get herself into ambers crazy, batshit crazy persona by listening to heavy metal and jumping up and down i love her so much 😭😭

Chad is this generation of scream's dewy because dewy was stabbed in all of the other screams and we saw him okay in the end except for scream V. I was CONVINCED that Dewy was going to be okay all the way until the end. I was devastated that we lost Dewy

SHE WAS THE ONE WHO SAVED THE SCREAM FRANCHISE, not Jenna. Tara is legit there to KEEP SAM STABLE, meanwhile Melissa Barrera plays one of the best final girls and also the daughter of Billy Loomis. Gen Z are legit overhyping Jenna and praising her like she is some sort of god. She is talented but she didn't save the franchise Melissa did.

Tatum is mentioned in 2 when Gale Dewey and Randy are talking in the park area before Randy Randy gets killed. And she's mentioned in 3 before Stone (Jennifer's Bodyguard) gets killed. And again we see a mention of her in 5 when we see her ashes in Dewey's home.

Im surprised a "hardcore scream fan" like her wouldnt remember such an iconic scene but then again she ranks scream 2&3 below 5&6 so 😬 ...

the flower crown drawn on Richie’s head has to be the most realistic part of the movie
since 5 & 6 seem to be mirroring 1 & 2, I can only assume 7 will mirror 3 and I'm really curious to see how they will improve upon it. Gale made a comment in 6 about trying to sell the rights to her latest book but all studios want is a true crime miniseries. My greatest wish is that 7 goes to Hollywood just like 3 did and takes place on the set of Gale's miniseries and the actors playing the cast members of that series are the actors from MTV's Scream series. That would be the most meta the franchise has ever gotten and I think they could pull it off.

mostly because at first she changed the game by surviving the opening scene. As for Tara and Sam while Sam is more interesting i feel i connect to Tara more. Tara is the type to want to move one and live her life something i would do if anything like that ever happen whereas Sam seems to thrive on it. I see it as tara is sams humanity of sorts, like everything sam did was for her both are a,axing and birth saved the franchise. There relationships is what I would of wanted had Tatum had survived

One of the smartest decision ever to let Jenna's character live. Creators knew she's gonna be a star, that was way before Wednesday!
She was already famous with You s2 & the babysitter killer queen. Before that she was a child actress & a Disney Channel star.
She also starred in the horror movie X the same year Scream 5 came out.
I'm guessing more ppl heard of her with Wednesday but she was well known within the industry & had fans way before that

Jenna and Melissa's on screen chemestry is so good. I love Tara and Sams sisterly bond and honesty without them Im not sure 5 and 6 work as well.
I love the echoes of Scream 2 in 6. Family revenge killers like Mrs Loomis, and film nerd dupes in the opening like Mickey.

Scream 1,2, & 4 was written by the same guy. So that’s why it’s consistently good. Then scream 5&6 are written by diff set of guys. The tv show “the following” was the original plot of scream 3

(Kevin originally wrote a script for scream 3 but it was later turned into “the following” but someone else wrote scream 3 that we did see, however wes directed scream 3. Scream 5 was not written by Kevin Williamson, but they had a scene where they watched Dawson’s creek, which is the show based on his life… small town teen who dreams of making horror movies

Gale continues to be my favourite character. Scream 6 was completely Melissa's movie. She was the standout performance in this.
She didn’t save it , she’s good in the movies . For me the franchise never needed saving. It’s one of the most consistent horror franchises.

Melissa really shined in Scream 6, she was so fierce, vicious and badass I loved it. Definitely made her so much better than S5 where Jenna stole the show. My rankings are Scream 6, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3. I've watched 4 5 and 6 more than 1-3 so that's why I'm biased.
Also I really want Sam to be like a very violent hero. If theyre gonna do the whole visions thing I want the movies to really lean into it.

My ranking is 1, 4, 6, 2, 3, 5. It's wild that Chad survived but I'm glad he did. I'm guessing he's the new Dewey. The whole "we got another one" solidifies that for me. This movie was so good, my only gripe is the reveal.
I have pretty much the same ranking! But sometimes 3 & 5 would switch for me, but then I'd remember the two way mirror kill scene!!!

Kirby was actually hinted at to have survived in Scream 5 when Richie is watching videos about Stab in the hospital, theres a video that says "Interview with Kirby". Also, my honest opinion on Scream 6 is that it was really well made and I genuienlydidn't guess the ending, HOWEVER I was mad that the only person that died that we really cared about was Anika. Scream is supposed to make you love characters and then take them away, that was my issue.
also with the Chad surviving, I think it was resembling Scream 2 when Dewey survives and Gale sees him.

Scream 6 kept me HOOKED! The only thing that ruined it for me was the Billy vision, they do easily could’ve just made it audio hallucinations and not visual. ALSO I accidentally distracted myself during the subway scene because I knew they put a MTV Brandon James mask somewhere in there and I spent the whole time looking for it 😂

The new rules trin mentions about how you need to see the person literally stop breathing on scene to make sure they died is actually how I figured out the roommate was the killer in scream 6. Like, i don't hate the fake out deaths, whenever i have to justify them to a reboot hater i use Billy's fake out in the first scream as a example for precedent, but i do think in some cases they're a little misused (like, i like Chad, but come on, he could not have survived a fucking ghostface double team. And i do feel like adding via phone call that gale was alive was a bit of a cop out)

I did not like Melissa in Scream 5, but I struggled to figure out precisely why. I ended up thinking it was a combination of the way her character was written and her acting. Withint two minutes of Scream 6, however, I absolutely loved her performance as Sam. I think she learnt alot as an actress in the previous film and also benefited alot from her character now being one the audience sympathizes with and respects.
scream 6 was so much better than expected, desperately waiting for them to finish the trilogy !!

I believe that there's not a bad Scream movie, but here's my ranking:
1.) Scream (1996)
2.) Scream 4 (2011)
3.) Scream 2 (1997)
4.) Scream 6 (2023) 2 & 6 would switch sometimes, depending on my mood lol. But I put 6 on # 4 for now because the hallucinations isn't for me, they take me out, but the tension/build up to the kills are so good!!!
5.) Scream 3 (2000) & Scream 5 (2022) these two would switch for me too, for now they're tied. Scream 3 is over the top and entertaining to me though, and that two way mirror kill scene!!!! And Carrie Fisher cameo!!!

This was a modern scream 2 that was executed very nicely. I was hoping for a 1st time reaction cause those are always the best reactions but your commentary is very entertaining. Scream 6 was better than 5 is so many ways that I could list but it’s just repeat lmao cause I have a lot more issues with 5 than 6. I hope scream 7 can close out this new requel trilogy nicely. The ppl who are only watching scream 5 and 6 but ignoring 1-4 just cause for Jenna Ortega are missing out like why are you doing that. Ranking goes as 1,2,6,4,5,3 love all these movies but I love some more than others. Jenna didn’t save Scream. Before the 5th one the franchise ended on a good note with Scream 4
although, i think chad and tara are kinda cute, i feel like it was so random, especially since in the last movie, they barely had any scenes together and it wasn’t really built up this movie, it more just almost happened and then did happen. Then again, I am an OG screenplay stan and wish they kept amber and tara together and as a couple
If they keep following patterns, Tara being Sam’s maternal half-sibling should be the killer in 7, like Roman was in 3. But I doubt they’ll go that route.
Tbh I hope they don't go down that route, it would be very predictable plus they've already done it twice in the franchise (Scream 3 and the TV series).
Wouldn't mind seeing another solo killer though, they've done pairs to death and 1 trio is enough - or a big group/cult could be cool if executed well.
