- There are a lot of Pokémon whose appearance may be slightly different depending on what gender it is. So in this video, I’m going to cover every Pokémon so far that has a gender difference and what that gender difference is.

The Torchic gender difference is actually kinda cool. Real chicks have pretty much no gender differences noticeable until they grow up. The only difference is a small mark under the females wing (or maybe it is the male, idk) So the slight difference is a reference to that

Its almost impossible to tell a chicks gender difference so farmers selectively breed to were males had dark spots, thats why so your correct

I actually saw a video in ag class where the guys that sorted the chicks at a place where chickens were shipped out that there's a difference in the down/feather type stuff on the wings, but that might only apply to chickens

I think the fact that male and female torchics are so hard to distingquish is on purpose, to reflect how hard it is to tell the gender of a baby chick.

I think that the male has a tail and the female doesn't. I don't know. .-.
It is probably because chickens were, for a very long time, very hard to identify genderwise, so the difference had to be very very small. in fact, I believe they are still pretty hard to see the difference on, and the people who do it are specialists

In most breeds its DNA tested or waiting until they're old enough for behavior differences if you're humane.. if you aren't humane ( and most chicken egging factories do this ), you forcefully prolapse their cloaca when they're a baby to check and I strongly hate that practice

Wow, great video. I had no idea there were so many pokemon with gender differences. It will be helpful to find Pokemon with more interesting features in the future, when hunting Pokemon with great aesthetics.But it would have been helpful to also mention which generation had these changes made to the genders, because I don't know if gen 1-3 even have them.

When I noticed the magikarp difference as a kid I felt so smart.
I found the speck on Torchic while soft-resetting for a female (in Omega Ruby where it's easier to see), and I didn't quite know what it was until I saw that Brigid the female Torchic didn't have it.

I'm assuming you didn't include Gardevoir and Gallade because they're technically different species, though they evolve from one singular species, Kirlia (though Gallade requires a Dawn stone, while Gardevoir is guaranteed at level 30)

Vespiquen can't be male... It's 100% female, only Female Combee can evolve into Vespiquen, like how Female Salandit can only evolve into Salazze.

They help us detirmine which gender of the species of pokemon are the ones who look for the mate. The ones with the bigger or flashier parts are probably to impress a potential mate

Azerd no it's not. There's a video that explains the gender differences in Pokemon. It explains that earlier, people couldn't tell a male and female chick apart until they became adults, but recently they found a way to determine a chick's gender by looking at the feathers. Male chicks have less feathers than the females, so the black dot on male Torchic is to show that it has less feathers than the females.

I know in super mystery dungeon you get multiples of the same pokemon if they have gender differences but I don't remember all of these being available. am I wrong?

+fenni ken There used to be gender differences (even choices) in the early Pokemon mystery dungeon games, then they decided it was "not needed" so they got rid of genders and just made some Pokemon look and act different so they appear to be of one specific gender. (Remember Pink Celebi for example?)
In SMD genders are non-existant except maybe a few differences in the Pokemon portraits, for instance for the Buizel/Floatzel family but that's pretty much it.

Good video. However, if I can offer one criticism:
If you include NidoranM and NidoranF, which aren't actually gender form differences but the genders being different species entirely, then you should have remembered to include Illumise and Volbeat. Like NidoranM and NIdoranF, they are two different species, each with a 100% male or female ratio, and when bred, they produce eggs of both sex species.

Actually it's based on real-life differences when shorting newly-hatched chicks; the only way to tell them apart is the males have a small shiny spot near their tails while the females don't....I've watched a lot of Discovery channel
