    In 1984 my dad took me Yuha desert to teach me how to drive a 69’ Jeep Commando 3 speed.
    We drove down 98 from 8 and we passed a large cross on a 20’ mound and took the next dirt road going north. My dad got out and walked and he told me to drive up the dirt road about 5 miles and see what is up there. I drove about 2-3 miles and a military jeep came out of nowhere and stopped me and told me this is private property and I had to turn around and leave.
    We actually got chased out of Yuha desert 3 times in the early 1980’s.

    another great family friendly adventure. I liked the comments about spending time with family. You never know how long people you care about are going to be with you. There is a hour glass of time that sometimes runs out on you. I wasn't always one to put family 1st wasn't until my older brother was murdered in 1993 that I did. So if anyone reading this isn't spending time with family or your not not talking to family. Start! Life's way to short and when they are gone it's too late.. Thanks Brad for the reminder.

    Grew up in El Cajon,CA. As a kid, spent a lot of time camping in the desert in that area with my neighbors. Spent many trail miles bouncing around in my neighbor's old Willey's jeep. On one trip, in 1970, we went to ancient oyster beds. Probably that same area, but was only 10 at the time. I remember picking through the shells looking for matching top and bottom sections. Many to be found back then. Same with vast amounts of petrified wood. Not as many people interested in camping/exploring that area as there is today.

    Fun fact from a wind turbine tech I once worked with: each, EACH, turbine takes up to ten years to break even. From all the paperwork involved to transporting parts to assembly and PM, (not counting any catastrophic mishaps), it takes ten years to break even. That’s how ineffective they are. 😔 And my beautiful Wyoming is starting to get covered in them. 😩

      Would having a coal plant or nuclear powere facility be any prettier? I kinda dig wind farms they seem graceful. But I don't leave with them too close by. I drove by some trucks in WY carrying blades...Holy smokes they're so much more massive than I thought. They're having some success with farms on the ocean which is kind of cool. These are all steps and growing pains reaching to a sustainable future.

    • @bah5310
      @bah5310 Před 2 lety

      @@moriseyusa there are several coal burners near me. You can see the smoke stacks off in the distance. When you drive by they just look like any other industrial building. The wind turbines on the other hand where put on top of some remote mountain ranges. What was once a beautiful drive through the mountains is now a tour of giant blades spinning in the sky. Imagine wind turbines on Black bear pass. There would never be a power plant built there but they could put a line of WT clear across them. I've driven by the wind farms out West. Wide open flat land that isn't considered scene. There they took some very scenic area and put what I feel are eyesores.

    Rocket must be smart or lucky, last time I had my dogs off leash out there one of em got a Cholla ball on his face. I ripped my shirt off in attempt to grab it before it got worse but he got to it first and ended up with multiple piercings through his mouth, jawls and in his paws.
