- Nothing put a dent in the day quite like waking up, flipping on the Keurig and receiving a partial brew.
And to amplify the annoyance further, the alarm didn't go off, you're late for work, dog peed all over your favorite shoes, get stuck in traffic, miss your meeting, get to work and realize you're not wearing any UNDIES!
This results in an ill-tempered torrent of verbal phraseology.
A partial brew is a sound indicator that your Keurig is clogged and needs to be cleaned.
You've come to the right place because in today's video I show you how to clean a Keurig with confidence!!

Love your humor! Thank you. I’ve had one for years, and have cleaned it many times before but it’s been awhile and I am now an old lady who can’t remember anything!!! Don’t worry, your day is coming! Thanks for making me laugh today.
Ha! Happy to help, thanks for the comment!
We've had a Keurig for about 5 year and have never descaled our machine. We have always use a Brita Water Pitcher to fill it up. No problems what so ever and still works great.
DANG YOU SAVED MY LIFE!! THIS IS WHAT I WILL DO THANK YOU!!
This! I never had problems with my keurig until I got lazy and stopped using the brita to fill it up. :(
10 years here. 👍
Isn't bottled drinking water just as good to use at the office ?
Our office K145 K-pod maker needs extra cleaning help ( er, not gonna ask my "know all, been there" manager, if the manual is in his desk or office..lol ), but maker still clogged after using a clean & descaling kit.., so I'm going deep down 👇 for the funky filter in the fish tank.. >hack< .
How & where do you "drain" the pump water ( a button on controls & a lever on top rear for opening the dike.., where is the "drain" ?
10 years "8000 cycles" I never done anything to it. Now its making partial cups so I'll try this. Thank you.
Thank you man! Our Keurig machine has been down for about a week, I tried everything. We were just about to order a brand new one...until we found this video! Saved us $80. We really appreciate it! Thank you
Happy to help!

@@CleanWithConfidence It was refreshing to find a CZcams how to video for something as mundane as cleaning a coffee maker, done by someone with an actual personality. I skipped through 3 different ones before yours and had trouble staying awake! 🤣 Keep up the good work! 👍🏻
@@nancymitchell863 thanks for the encouragement!!
@@nancymitchell863 that was one of my goals when I started the channel was to make boring how to videos more fun.
I love your video. I didn't even realize that there was a special filter inside the water container. It had been there almost a year. Thanks for the great tips

Do you mean fresh vagina? Vinegar and water... inquiring mind here. Lol
"We're basically just brewing vinegar here. This will clean out the machine-" And my sinuses.
I was going to do this, but just wanted confirmation that it wouldn't mess up the machine lol Thanks.
Happy to help!
Did it mess up the machine?
@@qtpie3339 Nope, it worked really well. Run a lot of water through after though, or you'll have some nasty coffee lol

This guy is great! How could anyone give this video a thumbs down?
Thanks for the comment! Some people think I talk too much, thus the thumbs down lol!
We did all that but realized it was clogged from coffee grounds overflowing in the drip part and decided to take it aparts. The lights continue to flash and thought it needed to be RESeT by unplugging the unit but that still didn't work?
Wondering if we shorted out the unit? But if that were the case it wouldn't be flashing, correct?
Awesome vid! Thanks man!
You are welcome!
I love using a bottle of compressed air to clean out the inside area of the Kurig . It gets rid of all the stray grounds
Never tried that
My brother gave me a Keurig bought from Goodwill. I want to clean the hidden crevice areas up inside. Of course they don’t make it easy, so I had to take off some parts. Anyway, my question is… is it ok to pour water inside that space? I plan on tipping it upside down and doing this, but want to make sure the water won’t seep down into the machine. Or does this area not need to be thoroughly cleaned, since the only area the coffee will touch will be near the front?
Also, can the mesh filter affixed to the base of the reservoir come off to be cleaned? It has screws so I assume it supposed to be unscrewed and cleaned on occasion. Thanks!
Great video, now I need to her to clean with the vinegar. I was just running the distilled water through it.
Wait you said take the filter out for the cleaning process but It looks like it's in when you soak everything in warm soapy water. Should it be in for that part? What cleaning should/shouldn't be done to the filter?
I love the way you clean kind of like myself. Just got an old Keurig ran thru with vinegar but mine has a descale light but no manual came thru it . I ran 2 runs then it maybe I need to try a few more. The light thing I wonder a bit I’ve seen just a dad video saying hit the 8&12oz button same time for the light to come off . Your very entertaining nice video. All barista classes say use the best water distilled yes or bottled with no calcium minerals etc
Glad you enjoyed the video🙂
Thanks for the vid! No need to buy the Kuerig descaling solution then! Thanks for the comedy too! 😂
Happy to help
I was about to toss my machine, I saw videos online saying its mold and it freaked me out a bit. Thanks alot I will give this a try.
You are welcome!
I love your video tutorials! Please tell me how to clean with confidence a microfiber cloth. Questions I have: Can you put it in the washer? Do you use detergent? Should you use the hand wash cycle or is steam better?
Thanks for the comment Mikel! I have actually been meaning to do a video on that. I will do it next for you.
I did NOT know that the k-cup holder came out! Just a lil squeeze and it popped right out. Holy what and thank you! I want to get to the filter. I had a stink bug crawl in the open water chamber and I didn’t notice until it was time to refill. I can’t just throw it out at that price, but I can’t bring myself to use it again till I get to that filter.
Happy to help!
Thank you 🙏 Easy and entertaining
You are welcome!
You didn’t cover how to reset the descale Light. I have the same model as you have and it won’t go out
Thank u. Like how you explained it. 😍

What do I do if I brew vinegar and water to clean it out but the machine is still clogged?
Thank you for the great tip. it worked.

Thanks! Great video!
Quick question we do keep the filter in or out while doing the vinegar clean?
I would pull it out
This was awesome and helpful
Thanks! Happy to help!
just bought a used machine and though it looks clean was wondering how to go about it. Thanks kid!

Do you know how to empty the internal reservoir on a K80 Select without disassembly?
I have the same Keurig you do and mine did not come with the water filter & timer just the stainless steel mesh. Anyway, thanks the for the explanation & demonstration. Thumbs up!
You are welcome!
Great video. You recommend using Distilled Water instead of regular water. My understanding is that distilled water is not recommended for human consumption (use it as regular water). I don't know if this is true... but just asking.
Wow a great video, i'm gonna have to run a bunch through mine!! had mine over 5 yrs ...and no cleaning..yikes!!
Thanks! Yes good luck to you :)
Soooo... if I have little black spects in the water, coming out of my Keurig... its just buildup, and I just need to use a lot of vinegar?
Wish I watched this before I cleaned mines out, now it sounds like water is inside my keurig.. any suggestions on how to take the water out??
Stealing that "ill-tempered torment of verbal phrase-ology"!
:)
Thanks i needed that worked great

Glad you found it valuable🙂
Subscribed with the bell. Love cleaning. My coffee maker isn't acting like it's dirt but I've never cleaned it (hasn't been used much) and i want to know how to clean it well. Would be gross to let it get to the point its making half cups.
Welcome to the channel!
Jolly good show sir!
Thanks!
Very good video 👍fun too!
Thanks🙂
Is purified water ok to use. I been using that for a long time.
But, how do you empty the internal tank to start that process? If it won't suck up the vinegar the vinegar can't do its job.
I just Love your videos!
Well thanks for watching Miss Cindy! Glad you are enjoying them.
At 1:23 you mention to remove the filter from the reservoir before cleaning but at 1:44 the filter is in it as you put it in the soapy water. What's up?
Thank you ❤
You are welcome
Lol! Awesome! Cleaning mine now
:)
Good video!
Thank you
Pretty funny guy and video. Thanks!
Happy to help
Can I run the vinegar first then clean the parts? 🤷♂️🙋♂️
Trying this now, half cups 🥤 really stick it to the day. Then after only a half cup brews SLOWLY, I then brew a small one just to get a full cup
Thank u!
You are welcome!
Do you replace the reservoir filter before you cycle the vinegar or after?
mystarstudios take out the reservoir before you do anything else and don't put it back in until you are finished with everything, even the 3-4 just water in the res. When you are completely finished and are putting it away, pop the filter back in.
Would you clean/soak the filter at all? And are you putting the filter back in when brewing the vinegar?
Pull the filter out if it is removable.
In your video you put the tank into the soapy water at 1:46 with the carbon filter installed in the tank. Earlier at 1:28 you said to remove it before cleaning the tank??????
I noticed that.
"Cure-egg"
:)
thats how u say it ...
@@CECE-sm1xy yes
That’s how it’s properly said buddy
Great thank you

Good video. 4 rinses with distilled water seems reasonable, but "Good Housekeeping" seems to think 12. Lol. Maybe overkill? Here is a part of their article: Any input?
"Empty and rinse the reservoir thoroughly. Fill it to the MAX line with fresh water and perform 12 rinsing brews using the largest brew size to remove any traces of vinegar or descaling solution"
My one cup Keurig brewed out a partial cup and then when I lifted the lid it popped steam! I'm going to clean it to see if its still salvageable :(
Did cleaning it salvage it?
How do you take out the k cup holder?
Thank you

Welcome to the channel!
The white vinegar you cycle through, are you just recycling it back into the reservoir or putting new vinegar in there? Mine is pretty grimy so I may have to buy a couple jugs.
Fresh vinegar each time.
I have the same model you have, it has a descale light. How do you descale? When does the light come on?
The process explained in this video is descaling. Same thing as cleaning out the machine.
How do you know if all the water is out of the keurig?
Do we need a water filter kit ?
How do I activate the descale feature??
So do you drink the distilled water? Or just use it for cleaning? Great video i use vinegar with cooking and cleaning so this down my alley👍🏾
Use it for drinking, that being said you can clean with it also.
Thanks! Yes you can use it for drinking, it's still water just without calcium, magnesium, etc
Is my filtered fridge water good enough to use?
@@katrinar2071 That's a great question. It just all depends on how good the filter is on your fridge and what type it is. You will probably just have to experiment with it.
My wife and I have been thinking about getting a Keurig, but I'm confused. Looking at the user manual online it states to _not_ use distilled water. Why is that?
Edit: From the Keurig K-Select user guide:
Helpful Hints
Water quality varies greatly. If you notice an undesirable taste in your beverage (such as chlorine or mineral tastes), we recommend using bottled or filtered water. *Do not use distilled water* . You can also install a Keurig® Water Filter to help remove water impurities and improve beverage taste.
Have you seen the videos of all of those videos with people taking apart their machine and having the internal water reservoir filled with water and gunk? What are your thoughts?
No ma'am I haven't seen them before.
Sissy Stella when I drink out of my keurig I get sick that’s why I’m trying to watch these videos
@@OptimusBlaine maybe try drinking out of a cup rather than the keurig itself? that could be the fix. Id imagine its pretty hot straight from the machine
@Harry Newman Keurig 4335457458 B01MXFTW88 2.0 Needle Cleaning Tool, kkk Orange - sold on Amazon for like $4.50
Will this make the water only pure
So I did just what you said, and it was super dirty. Lots of buildup. I ran two full reservoirs of vinegar through it and now... All the lights are on. I let it set overnight, unplugged. I plugged it in this morning and all the lights are on again. It won't turn off or on and it won't brew coffee. Help!!
Sounds like there is more wrong with the machine than just the buildup.
So my Keurig will sometimes be fine and others only produce half a cup or so. I cleaned it out with vinegar but after the second time of filling it, now it just doesn't let any liquid out whatsoever. Any suggestions?
So sorry to hear about that! Unfortunately, I don't have any other ideas except for the ones on the video.
