Just did this, on a older model and I’m here to say it works. Ran thru, half vinegar, half water, until mix was gone. Then ran thru regular water till it was gone. Also saw a tip in the comments. Added a tiny tiny pinky nails worth of baking soda, in the final rinse thru, and the descale light is off and my coffee doesn’t taste like vinegar. Great video!!! Thank you so much
Thank you for the tip on letting the vinegar sit to clean it out. It has been a while since I descaled and i have an older model Keurig. This method made it run faster, hotter and the cup fills fully now. Nicely done...thank you!
Much appreciated on the video. Pro tip if you add a small amount of baking soda like a very minuscule amount talking tip of your pinky amount to the water when you’re on your on the last step when running just water through the machine it will kill any vinegar taste. Have a good one!
OMG you are a lifesaver. My machine was not working and all I had to do is descale it with vinegar. Can't buy a new system because it cost around $400. Bro once again you are a lifesaver. Coffee machine is back and running
Great to hear!
Love the way you made the video instructions so easy to follow! Use every time I descale my Keurig. Thx so much!👏
Best video I've seen about cleaning my Keuring! Straight to the point. Thank you!
I really REALLY appreciate this buddy. I was not looking forward to a javaless morning
Who needs to keep track of user manuals when there is youtube and people willing to take the time out to post how-to videos? Thanks.
Seriously! I work on my own cars but I don't do things like rear diffs myself because you have to be very precise and know what you're doing. From CZcams videos I did my own read diff on my foxbody! It works, definitely used wrong backlash spec and would pay to have it redone lol but I've launched it on nitrous since and it works!
Alex John I don’t know what that means but my coffee is great!
No way you would be reusing dirty vinegar that way, does not make sense, there is germs and scale in that vinegar after cleaning, defeats the whole purpose of cleaning
🙌🏼

Actually, vinegar is a disinfectant, so you could reuse it. But I didn't see where he did, I saw him pour it down the sink, which might help clean out the pipes a bit.
I bought an older model at goodwill with no manual, so thank you so much!
Im still running clean water thru, but i now look forward to fresh cup of coffee. Thank you
thank you for your video on how to descale the Keurig
Thanks man I don’t know why this was sooo difficult for me to grasp prior to your video but u knocked it down for me
Share this vid with your friends so they can have good coffee too.
Thank you for the lesson. Have a good day!
A great video, easy to follow and the presenter has a great voice for this.
Good stuff, esp recap at the end. Thx!
Good tips. I wasn’t aware of letting sit for a time and then rising. I agree half water should to added to vinegar and I replace filter as well. I only use bottled water because I believe coffee tastes better. After I run 2-3 cycles, I run a cycle with a coffee pod and I dump it. I think it further helps to eliminate any vinegary taste. Happy descaling.
Thank you for the tips. It worked great.
Thank You 😊 this was my first time getting the notice on my keurig😕 and your video helped a lot.
Thank you for this sir!! I have 2 keurigs and a hamilton beach this worked on all of them. All the directions I read NEVER said anything about letting it sit with the Vinegar with the machine on.
I looked all over to find the answer to get rid of DESCALE on my pot. You Dad have the best info detail and help out there on these Keurig machines. I would like to add my view. I think the contacts you show are used for tank empty add water. Also I think it looks for OHM values to display Descale on our screens through the conductance of water. We must flush and let the sensors see clean water! Thank you-jeff
This is great I was wondering if I needed to clean mine, the first thing I did was just plain bottled water, it was crystal clear. It took less than 30 second to brew. I'd say it is safe to assume my machine is still clean.
Thank you so very much for sharing this video! Now my coffee pot is nice and clean!!
Great video. I saw another guy who used the same practice by using vinegar to sit and break down all unnecessary particles on the heating element. Thanks for helping!!!!
My Mr C pot has a Clean button to press and takes 45 minutes using vinegar, the 2 water refills. It’s easier than making 1 cup at a time of vinegar and water.
Thank you! Your video was most helpful.
Thanks for this! Descaling now with your help!
Just spent the morning doing this, thank you so much. I’m assuming that you put the auto back on when you are done. Appreciate it!
Thank you so much!!!! My coffee tastes wonderful now!!!!! You made it super easy!!! 😀
The black dots are old coffee grounds left by punching the k-cups open. Gotta clean that out, too. Quips work well for that. I was shocked by that backup in mine!
Thanks for the video. Also, appreciate the recap at the end.
Thank you for your time and great video.
Thank you! Super helpful 😁
Nice how to video, superbly done, thank you
Thanks! You explained it well. I had no idea how to. I plan to descale mine tonight.
Very helpful, thanks
You might want to recommend turning auto off in the beginning as the newer models do not allow you to access settings changes during cycle process.
Appreciate your help.... I followed your instructions , & I even filled & used two pitcher of water to rinse .... at the end it is still saying “descale “ .... I bought this new keurig in Dec ....
Thank you. That helped lot. My filter fell apart, any idea how or where to go to replace?
Thanks so much. Just got this message on my machine
Very helpful! Thank you. My Keurig doesn’t have a filter like yours in the tank. That’s OK right? I think I might just have a cheaper version
Thanks!
Great - made it very easy. Thanks..
Thanks. Very helpful.
Loved it. Not A bunch of blah blah blah. Concise and to the point. And I love the recap at the end CZcamsrs should watch you and learn how to do a CZcams. Was very helpful that I am in the US and you appear to be the same. Not to disparage those from other countries but many times the accent is so thick I cannot understand what is being said
thanks for the info and video!
looks easy now I will attempt
Great video! By the way, what is the name of your sink faucet set? It is AWESOME! I would love to purchase myself one.
Thanks
Very helpful de-scaling tutorial..thanks!!
Thank god i found this .i freak out when the machine told it needed to be descale Lol thanks for your help
Thank you!
Great video!
Thank you!!
Very Good Thank You
Thank you, very good video, very helpful!!
Glad it was helpful!
Sir, great video and easy but I do not have that filter you pulled out in the reservoir? I have the same machine as yours with the 5 settings.
Good video, thanks!
Citric acid (powder form premixed into liquid) is better because it dissolves minerals whereas vinegar merely breaks it up. Great for sanitizing with vinegar
Thank you
Thank you so much😊
I like the re-cap
I'm going to clean my machine right now. Thanks!!!
PM
Thanks. I didn’t wanna spend $12 on the Keurig descaling solution. My big jug of vinegar was a few dollars at Costco.
Nice job thank you
Thank you.
Thanks. I need to descale the machine at the office. After quarantine it sat w the little bit of water left in reservoir for months, gross! But we need our coffee so I will get it back and running.
thank you.
I have not been letting the vinegar set for an hour before flushing fresh water through to rinse🙄. Thanks for the tip!
man, thanx for the vid .. i have an issue though i got one of the first model keurig's n even on a large mine only dispenses less than a small i thought it may need a cleaning but... even with the viniger its doing the same thing.. any idea ?
Vinegar works better if you use 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar. It will allow more capacity for total dissolved solvents in the water, and will carry away better. And still won't need very long soaking. The heat combined with the acid will descale very quick.
ikr? I saw him pour whole bottle and was thinking what a waste
So should we heat the water and the vinigar prior to adding it to the reservoir for added heat?
Yes. Vinegar is very efficient in grabbing minerals and dirt and you don’t need to use but one cup to get the job done. I clean houses with diluted vinegar all the time, like scummy layered showers and my diluted vinegar works every time. Mine is diluted two parts water to one part vinegar though. Don’t waste vinegar, diluted does the same thing.
Ty. Doing this now :)
Hi Looks like I have the same model Keurig machine. Mine will not pump water but it says de-scale. Do you have any suggestions or solutions?
currently crying because my mom is yelling at me to do this BUT this is an amazing video very helpful thank you !!
I have one Keurig that has every thing in side it. where is the filter and when I open the lid.. it smelles funky.
Thank you!!! This is just what I needed to see!
When I try to make a cup I get a notice that this is not a valid pod. I am using Keurig pods. After about 3-4 attempts it works but I get a lot of grounds in the cup. Any suggestions on why it is not accepting valid pods?
Glad to see you’re using Heinz !!! I’m a Pittsburgh Local. 👍👍👍
Nice 👍
Can you tell me what brand coffee mug that is?
This v helpful
Hi Coffee / Tea / Keurig people :
Have a K - Compact 35 .
Would inserting the REUSABLE coffee filter be a good idea to clean that also ?
Also ,, the Compact 35 does NOT have an AUTO - OFF setting ,,,,
so I guess just leaving it on ( it DOES have Add Water light ) for a half hour would help ?
Thanks all .
( New to Keurig ,, as the machine was left to me by a Friend )
How much is the filter and how often do you change the filter? If I use filtered water, do I even need the filters?
Congrats you have more views for 1 vid, than I have for 800 vids on my channel, I guess cleaning the Keurig is more popular than learning to play some songs on the guitar. Nice video.
nice self-promo lmfao
I cleaned my Keurig with Keurig descaler. Followed all the directions. My coffee tasted like chemicals. Now I am up at 3am cleaning it all over again with vinegar. Going back to using vinegar all the time. What we do to have a cup of coffee.
Keurig descaler is citric acid, which is the same acid you get from lemons, minus the lemon flavor. Descale more often, and use citric acid, because acetic acid in vinegar harms seals and some metals.
@@anthonykaiser974 What's the ratio of citric acid to water?
@@10bears2 don't know, but the reason Barb's machine has a chemical taste is heavy scale buildup which hasn't been completely removed due to insufficient periodic descaling. Once the scale is completely removed, the chemical taste has nothing to adhere to.
Anthony Kaiser I found the ratio on the Internet -2 tabs to 4 cups water. It took about 8 cups & worked like a charm! You only have to let it sit for 30 mins! Thanks for the heads up!
@@10bears2 any time.
I did everything that you suggested. The keurig gives only 1/4 cup of water on large setting. Can I do anything>
Does the descaling light only come on when brewer needs to be descaled?
My older Keurig model says Prime..😔But it wont let me run a cycle. The lights come on and it starts up but I feel no heat and then the reservoir just blinks.. Any suggestions? I'm tired of Folgers..ughh
I'm guessing it's possible to do this on a single cup Keurig too but with running multiple cups of vinegar and water ?
How do I fix the hot water running back into the reservoir?
Some very good explanations of what to look for, and a great idea to let the vinegar sit for an hour....but my question is why use tap water instead of bottled water?
Sue, I never use tap water because we have very hard water where I live and over time the minerals in it will kill your Keurig; I personally see no point in descaling your Keurig with the very thing that caused you to have to do such a thing in the first place! Either way, to prolong the life of your Keurig, I'd recommend using only distilled water in your Keurig. Besides, even if you don't want to use distilled water all the time, you could always just buy a gallon of it for ~$1 and use that for cleaning!
@@AdriAsTheSiren thanks so much, I usually use bottled water, but my husband occasionally uses tap water. we finally had to purchase a new one as our old one (10+ yrs) finally bit the bullet. I noticed in the video that they filled the reservoir with tap water while descaling it.
@@sues5693 yes and most new houses and new sinks already have filtered water coming out of the tap nowadays so that might explain some of it. I use filtered water but never distilled water. I mean for every brew. What a pain in the butt to have to have distilled water for every cycle
Hi, I done that and never had any scale. My problem is the less amount of water. I also own the same Keurig as your's. I want to know if you seen water coming back in the tank as it brought water to mug. Can you see the stream of water going back in to the tank as going to mug? Thanks!
I had the same issue and that’s when you have deposits clogging up the interior tubing at the very top of the machine which you can’t access without taking out two screws. I did a search for “Keurig K 70 stops working“ and three or four down a channel whose name starts with ranch, shows you how to remove the top and squeeze on those tubes where the deposit is really bad. It’s a great video and super helpful he’s just one of two I could find that showed how to get into the machine. That will fix your problem I’m almost positive as when you have water going back into the tank from that clear white double spouted little knob thing that’s an indication there is a clogged tube in the machine with heavy deposits
I run. I ran. I have run. We run. We ran. We have run. Thank you for your tips.
I never use tap water for any drinking purpose specially tea or coffee. I noticed that the descaling the Keurig is not that necessary as often as before if bottled water is used. Not to mention that the tea or coffee tastes a lot better.
I buy Peet’s coffee & tea which are quite expensive so the cost of water is the least of my concern.
Additionally since I use bottled water, one cup of distilled vinegar is enough for descaling every three months.
Water from faucet to clean out vinegar?
How about an older version of Keurig without the digital viewer? My Keurig doesn't start, though the power shows in "on" position!
What model Keurig is that? I really like it! Thanks.
Connie Clinton b70
Mines won’t run the water at all but keeps saying descale I filled the Reservoir with vinegar but it won’t run what do I do
I do have a different Keurig but when I did this, my machine was messing up. I’m still getting vinegar out even after I put water in. I’m not sure if this works with all types of Keurig’s!
I did this once and forgot to remove my filter first and had the same issue as this. Maybe this is your issue! If so, you should replace the filter. If not, I would try running cycles with no pod in until your machine tells you to "add water" and then only add a cups worth of water, run it, then repeat a few times and see if that helps! Best of luck!
It also makes the sound of brewing but no water
I have a problem, after descaling. my machine will not go on. any ideas?
Best looking KEURIG I’ve seen yet
I cleaned mine with vinegar and it starting to have problems. I have to unplug it and shake it to work.
