Do you mean use RTV along with the gasket when installing the thermostat housing? I would not use both. Gaskets are meant to seal without RTV and I’ve always been of the mindset that you would just now create two possible leak surfaces. I would use one or the other, but not both. And make sure if you do go with RTV, it’s high temp.

Actually I took 2 min and popped off the. Belt tensioner as you call it the timing indicator…. Very fast and way easier to hit that bolt with it removed
Ya makes no sense… and also… the alternator is underneath the thermostat. If you have a leak there goes the alternator.
