Hi Iâm first
@Heisenberg Try to be yourself and when you do that you will
be unique and interesting to watch
Video Killed the Radio Star.
Thank you so much for pinning me đ
I would love to hear some music from the game âhollow knightâ it has some incredible music and I think you would be able to make just as amazing music with its soundtrack
My favorite part of all these videos is when he says âMARIMBAAAâ so enthusiastically!
đ
MARIMBAAA
Same
Yes, we all knew you were like that
He has a marimba hat you can see right in front of the marimba
You played the godfather...... ON A DULCIMER!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I bow down at your greatness. And thank you so, so much for playing that instrument. So many don't know of it and seeing you and some others starting to bring it into the spotlight fills my heart with so much joy and the yearning to play that instrument once again.
it sounds like if the theme was made for a Chinese period movie
Play it please đ
The fact that I knew it was The Godfather just from the music is great bc Iâve never seen the movie just heard similar songs way to many times
Ive got two hammered and two lap dulcimers upstairs that my Grandfather and I made. They sound great but don't stay in tune for long
I knew it was either The Godfather or The Sopranos or something like that, but it was NO LESS BEAUTIFUL!
I absolutely loved that Force Theme with the handpan and I would be completely on board with a full cover
You're not the only one, on that, because it was _BEAUTIFUL!_
Iâll keep it short: youâre a huge inspiration to me as a percussionist, thank you for getting me into this
Awesome to hear that! All the best !
Translation: i will watch your videos with great interest
@@amchannel8087 yes, the discovery of this channel was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
bro same. genuinely helped me figure out that percussion is my gift :)
If that is true, my Emperor, then I hope you stop building those death stars and instead invest in moon-sized handpans.
I need a full cover of Top Gun, doesn't matter in which instrument is played it still sounds epic. Or maybe despicable me, I loved that marimba cover
I need the top gun theme
What song did he do on the stylphone
@@chrisupton6190 that was the top gun theme
found one czcams.com/video/XQ0z_6f-ebI/video.html
I *want* a full cover of the Force Theme, but I *need* a full cover of the Despicable Me theme. That movie franchise may have crashed and burned, but it started out strong as heck. That first Despicable Me movie was a genuinely good movie, and had a great score!
Iâm a big fan of both of those!
Yes.
I honestly think where, the franchise started to go down was Minions. I think the first 2 were good, with 2 being where a bit of the minion âcash-grabbynessâ started to show, but it was good. Then minions hit. Then Despicable me 3 (my least favorite) was when I finally lost faith.
@@StupidlyStupid Agreed. 2 isn't at the same level as 1 but it wasn't bad. There were some really funny moments in it and it was clear the franchise still had a soul. And then, like you said, Minions happened.
â@@cineblazer we don't talk about the 3rd movie..
I think he loves the Marimba. I like how he always stresses the word :D
He basically cheated on her and married his wife instead.
Never ceases to amaze me how talented this guy is
Steel Pan (+Bass Drum & Hi-Hat) - Spider-Man
Handpans - Star Wars (The Force Theme)
Rav Vast & Aquarion - Forrest Gump
Stylophone - Top Gun
Marimba - (+Black Swan Drum with double pedals) - Despicable Me (Minions March)
Hammered Dulcimer - The Godfather
Hand pans and the force theme is a perfect match. Would love to hear a full cover for it!
đŹ đŹ yikes
And replies like this is where arguments completely unrelated to the parent comment are born
Yup
@@prifmirus8543 yep
gotta resist going after the monkey on his ancient console
(ok that was worded weird his user is xbox 360 monkey so Yeah)
MOST DEFINITELY!
the godfather one was so cool and matched the film perfectly
"The Godfather"? What you mean?
*Hammered dulcimer plays*
Ahhhhh
The crazy thing for me was that I guessed it right, despite the fact that I've never seen the godfather, and I have no recollection of it. I guess the sound just really matches with the movie's general perception.
@@joshuakroll3203 it is one of those intrinsic melodies
one old example of the top of my head is Pachelbel "Canon in D major" or "Sarabande" from G. F. Haendel as that one has influenced Ghibli music (particularly noticeable in the movie theme from Nausicaa)
These were really good! Top Gun and Forest Gump were a nice surprise but Start Wars' Force Theme was really cool! The hand pans offer such a cool sound!
Joe Porter legit maxed out percussion
While I was listening to the Minions March on the marimba all I could think of is how it is a perfect Crash Bandicoot stage track
yeah had no idea what movie it was from but was getting the Crash vibes for sure
Top Gun is one of my favorite movies of all time. Not because itâs got an excellent score or excellent acting and cinematography. But because my grandpa calls me Goose. Which Iâve kinda begun to embrace seeing as Goose is a good guy.
Top Gun on Stylophone is weirdly amazing đ€©đ
I was most impressed by the Forrest Gump theme, I can't imagine playing two different instruments at once.
Band kids are another species, percussionists especially
I gave my younger cousin my first guitar when I upgraded. The little fucker plays a one man band setup beautifully now.
Fucking little show off. đ€Ł
I don't know why by Spider-man, Star Wars, and Forrest Gump just sound so perfect on the selected instruments. Would LOVE full songs for all of them.
Cantina Band has been on repertoire list for nearly 20 years now. I still love to play it!!
This is just a suggestion, but there's a movie out there called "The Secret of Kells" the music in that movie is so good and I think it would be so cool to hear it played on this instruments.
Keep up the *amazing* work! ;D
YESSS The Secret of Kells music is SO GOOD!!! Wolf Walkers too!!
song of the sea was my fav one of those movies.
I knew #5 from all those years playing Minion Rush on my Amazon tablet
Oh my goodness, unlocked a memory right there.
I have no clue how this man plays two different instruments at once but I love it.
This is fantastic! I especially loved Despicable Me, Star Wars, and Spider-Man, keep up the good work Joe!
Can you please do "Hellfire" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame on the chimes? I think it would sound amazing.
You're the complete reason I want to become a percussion instructor and performer your material is incredible and I hope day I can meet you at a convention
The hammered dulcimer really reminded me of Dishonored. Felt like a nostalgia trip.
Man you have to do Across the Stars with the hand pans, itâd sound amazing
The Godfather on that instrument was Amazing â€
Amazing video as always!! I'm not sure if you've already done a cover of Merry-go-round of life from Howl's moving castle but I'd love to hear your version of it!!
I liked Star Wars the Force theme the best and thought the Despicable Me one was pretty good too. I must say that Top Gun deserves better! Nonetheless, all of them were played really well. I'm not sure if you done any of these but some themes I would like to see (or rather, hear) are Pirates of the Caribbean, Back to the Future, The Patriot, and Braveheart.
The Top Gun theme sounded like the old NES game, that brought back some memories.

Hell yes!! Aw you got to do Star Wars âmos eisleyâ that would be awesome!
Imagine Living near this guy and songs of all kinds just happens all day
The Forrest Gump Theme was amazing, almost magical! Brilliant!
The forest gump suite is one of my faves to play on the piano! Bravo!
This was a great format for the video. You announced each unique instrument and left the answer to the end. Awesome!
The force theme sounded like a rendition for The Mandalorian
As a piano player it astonishes me how many percussion instruments are out there. Wonderful playing.
I really want to try out some of these instruments now. They sound so cool!
â€
@@JoePorterPercussion where can you get them from
The only time having a brother work in the movie theaters pays off đ Please do more of these guessing videos!!!
đ€Łđ Roger that
Steel pan? More like the Amazing Spider-pan!
đ€Łđ
You're the absolutr Burten grip perfectionist. Playing Marimba for 20 years Stevens became the obvious choice, but you make me reconsider all of my knowhow. Well done sir.
Number two always gives me goosebumps.
Something about the Forrest Gump song reminded me of Christmas lol. That reminds me, you better start prepping some Christmas covers Joe!
I did not expect that on hammered dulcimer. Cool!
đ
I always wait for him to say "Marimba!!!" I love how he says it...
Marimba looks so difficult, getting your hands to play different things at the same time? I could never
Hell yeah! Star Wars! Don't see much SW content in the wild, this was a nice change of pace.
đ
Hey man, I did professional drumming but some instruments you have are rare to get these days nor expensive. Love it damn!đđ„° đ„
Literally everything sounds beautiful when played on handpans
Fr
2:06 this is dope best thing Iâve seen all day
I love the joy as you say âmarimba!â Every time!!
The star wars the force theme sounds so amazing!
Now make a band playing a piece with all those instruments combined.
Itâs funny, because the steel pan looks like Spider-Manâs web
00:30 I know it's a variation on the Force theme...But I thought that was 'The Throne Room', given the tempo and rhythm.
I love the sound of the steel pan
đ
The Star Wars cover is awesome. I like the more chill vibes it gives.
The force theme is so pretty. Thank you for the videos đđ
OMG! These were awesome. Can you do Lux Aeterna?
Fuck yes
I like this format change where we actually get a chance to try and figure out what the melody is from before you reveal it
It's always been this way
He took that style phone out his inventory
The Top Gun one gave me NES flashbacks :) I could never refuelâŠ
I am not good at expressing my opinion, but you are really wonderful and your playing is perfect. There are no words to describe your creativity in all your videos. I love youâĄâ©âĄâ©
â€ïž Have a great day!
@@JoePorterPercussion thanks đ
Best collection
I NEED one of them Stylophones. That blew my mind đ
Im pretty sure Top Gun sounded just like that in the very first Nintendo Video game by the same name on the original Nintendo console. Nostalgia ,thanks for that memory recall
I loved number 5
With the hammered dulcimer I knew it by the first note âIâll give him a deal he cannot refuseâ
I need more of The Godfather! Sounds so good on that Dulcimer!
1steel pan + bass drum & hit hat
2 hands pans
3 steel tongue drums & aquarion
4 stylophone
5 marimba
6 hammered dulcimer
I played the drums and other percussion instruments but not that much, but when I started watching your videos you inspired me to play more percussion instruments
Precession gang rise up!
That stylophone sounded more like Dune to me when it played. đ with Top Gun
we need a whole video on Star Wars. Itâs amazing
Omg, I actually got all of them!! I'm doing a song in my concert band class called Hollywood Milestones and it's a medley of movie themes, that's why I got a lot of them lol
The last one is amazing, never knew such instrument existed :o
Lol Top Gun theme on the stylophone sounds just like it did for the NES game!
Freaking awesome job man. I love all those movies
For some reason, your voice has always reminded me of the narrator of How It's Made.
Itâs been 30 some odd years and I canât get that Top Gun theme out of my head from the Nintendo game
i instantly guessed most of them. Godfather is one of my favorite movies.
The minion March is giving me Nostalgia back when I used to watch Despicable me as a kid.
Very coolđ
I'm so glad you hide the song's name until the end of the piece! I always loved trying to guess the song
Love all of them especially the top gun
It was fun guessing the songs ,maybe you can try this format for more videos :D
you have to do fi's gratitude on the aqaurion
You need to do a video entirely on Star Wars music, that would be awesome
Probably the first video that has a raw vast and hand pans in the same video
Could you please make a godfather full cover? That was sick
Can we get some of the Star Trek Themes from any of the Star Trek TV seriesâ
Love pan drums so much
The dulcimer would be perfect for the Sherlock BBC intro
âHow many instruments can you play?â Joe porter: All of them.
THE TOP GUN ONE WAS SO COOL! KEEP IT UP! I LOVE THE MOVIE TOP GUN
Star wars on the hand pans would fir perfectly in the scene where luke meets yoda
The hammer dulcimer always makes me think of the BBC show Sherlock.
I kind of want to hear the main themes of Interstellar and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (still a favorite of mine) played on those instruments. They sound neat. Oh, and Standing Together from Bendy and the Dark Revival because why not?
