Today we're trying out the Schick Hydro Sensitive 5 Blade Razor. We're going to share our experience, give some opinions, and tell you whether or not we think it's worth it?!
I agree with you whole heartedly! I do not like that extra pivot on the handle. It feels like you have to press even harder to get a close shave. The blades aren't as sharp as would be Gillette, Harry's, etc. I too like the Quattro much better! In my opinion, nothing beats Gillette, but their pricing is getting out of control. I really like that Exfoliating razor, but the blades are very pricey! I subscribe to Harry's, Gillette, and Dollar Shave Club.A Schick subscription I will pass on. Thanks for the review!
It’s weird that their newer flagship razor is worse than their outdated model. I was def a little disappointed and surprised how much I didn’t like it. I was really hoping it’d be good cuz I like competition for Gillette. Also 100% agree with everything you just said! Thanks for dropping in and taking the time to comment!

Excellent comparison video Larry! The Steel Bee also prolongs the life of the cartridge blades. You have to try the Leaf twig 🪒 razor. Leaf makes the Thorn which is more aggressive than the Twig.

Excellent review, Larry! I too am a fan of the Quattro, and will likely dig mine up. I currently use the Gillette Skinguard and Fusion 5, but neither is giving me a good number of good shaves. I appreciate your thoughtful commentary and insights!
I really appreciate this comment! Big thanks for watching and taking the time to share I feel the difference in most razors is kinda nuanced. Most razors will get the job done but some offer a better experience. I was surprised that I disliked the Hydro after my experience with the Quattro. I like both the Fusion 5 and Skinguard okay. I think they both offer decent shaves at a premium price. I usually get like 5-6 shaves out of either but the last shave or two I can feel the difference. I get better mileage out of the Gillette Labs but it’s too pricey.
@@fitnessnbeer9835 I agree. I get 5-7 decent shaves from the Skinguard and the Fusion 5, but since Gillette promises a month of shaves from both (15 shaves/mo, I was expecting more. I shave everyday and my skin is old and tired (I'm 72), so I have a light beard, which should get me more shaves. I did just buy a Quattro handle and 16 blades for less than $25 from Amazon, which is a good deal. I look forward to your future videos! All the best, Karl

I appreciate your vids. I use to be a Mach3 guy for years in the early 2000's but G's prices just got outta hand. I've been looking for a new razor for years and now I need something to also shave my head. I haven't found anything yet and still cant justify the cost for G's.
Big thanks for checking out the vids and commenting! I wasn’t a huge fan of the hydro but I did like the Schick Quattro which is an older model from Schick. It’s not badly priced online at less than $2 per cartridge. Also prices online fluctuate but sometimes you can get the Mach 3 for around $2.35. It’s still much cheaper than the rest of Gillettes offerings.
As someone who’s been shaving for 12 years now and has never really had a problem with this brand, I must say that this time around, I couldn’t wait to throw this razor in the trash. A brand new unused cartridge cut me all to hell no sooner I started using it. And again I’ve been shaving for 12 years and never had a problem with Schick before.
Sometimes cuts happen to me with my best razors but they’re few and far between. Getting cuts consistently is a definite deal breaker. Ironically I like the Schick Quattro but not the biggest fan of the Hydro 5. Big thank for checking out the video and sharing your experience.
Yes the hydro is way too gooey. I went from DE shaving to cartridges. So my journey was backwards. I went from quattro to Harry's and now im using Gillette skin guard. Quattro is great but only with the grain. I was getting bumps going against the grain with quattro. Harrys is an awesome razor. And if i was going to use a 5 blade itd be Harry's. I just started using skin guard. So far amazing! Only 3 shaves in so ill check on longevity of blade life. So far its my favorite

I looked at my Schick Hydro to try and answer this question but strangely enough I’m not sure 🤷🏾♂️. The plastic cap on the razor flexes back to expose a piece of metal but it doesn’t look like a precision trimmer… …actually just found the answer, it is a rear blade and it’s called a “flip back trimmer.” So yes it does. I'm bald and I shave my head, and even though I'm bearded I still shave parts of my face and neck. Overall, I shave lots of surface area and care about the comfort and results of my shave. Big thanks for checking out the video and commenting.
