My favorite shave and best shave is Gillette skin guard. I have recently swited to Schick Hydro 5 sensitive skin and found that it's very close to Gillette. My reason for stepping away from Gillette is due to replacement blade cost... getting insane! The worst razor I have ever tried was Harry's, It made me remember what razor burn felt like again.

I think all of them have their merits and flaws. They all can give you a good shave but are pricey per cartridge even the Bic that is the lowest cost. The way to go in my opinion...double edge blades!! A decent safety razor with those blades are FAR CHEAPER than any cartridge razor and are environmentally friendly. You can 100% recycle a DE blade!! You can purchase a 100 count of DE blades for under $10!! You can easily get 3-5 or more shaves per blade pending on your beard and how often you shave. You can easily shave for a year off that 100 pack!! Try it, you won't go back! Once you learn the proper technique of a safety razor, you will be hooked for life! Thanks for the video!!

@@fitnessnbeer9835 With a safety razor, you place next to no pressure when stroking. You let the razor do the work. Obviously, there is not pivot. You use approximately a 30°angle or to what is comfortable to your face. The best way to do that is hold safety razor cap parallel to face and tilt downwards until you feel the edge of the blade. A single edge cuts so much smoother without tug and pull that multi blade cartridges do. The whole idea is gradual beard reduction, not taking everything off all at once and causing irritation. That's why traditional wet shavers do 2-3 passes. It's a much better way to shave in my opinion and far less costly unless you fall into the rabbit hole like me and discover all the wonderful products out there!! Watch videos of Paul H., Kensurfs, Kevy Shaves, etc. Trust me, you'll love this way of shaving if you just stick to it!

Harry's both pre & post improved blades, I really gave that company a chance but overall it just wasn't the razor for me. As for the rest i've tried all the Gillette razors aside from the new one with the exfoliating strip, the razor looks good but the exfoliating strip seems like it gets in the way. I'd still try it. Regardless of price i haven't found a better cartridge razor than the Hydro 5. But if the Gillette was significantly better i'd probably switch. Yeah thats a really good point. Its so hard to differentiate sometimes because marketing can be so convincing and then at the end of the day your left with a razor you dont like and then left wondering where you went wrong lol "on to the next one" in the end though if you can get past the price most of the razors will probably give you a good shave. Lets be honest though gillete charging you 40 dollars for a 12 pack of razors when it costs them probably 10 cents to make the blades lol.@@fitnessnbeer9835

So as someone who has used pretty much all of those razors at one point in time, I’ve been using the Harry’s for a while due to the price, just recently switched to the Gillette labs razor, and I have to say I don’t know if I’ll ever use another razor again. I think all of these razors as far as closeness of the shave pretty much do the same exact job, so that has nothing to do with anything. It’s all about comfortability of the shave, and I got the Gillette lab razor for $20 from CVS, they have replacement cartridges on Amazon For a 4 pack for $22, which is only $12 more than the Harry’s, and it is a mind-boggling difference. I always felt like I was scraping my face with the Harry’s razors, but just kind of put up with it because of the price point, this Gillette labs, not only in my opinion is the best razor that Gillette
has ever produced, but also the most comfortable razor I’ve ever used as far as getting the same results as for closeness and not even feeling like you’re shaving your face. Zero pull, zero scraping. Also, the feel of the handle just feels like it’s so natural holding this razor. Hands-down, the best razor Gillette has ever produced and I don’t know if I’ll ever buy another razor brand, that’s how much I love the Gillette labs. Also the exfoliating bar is absolutely a gimmick, and I don’t know if it even really does anything, but to me Gillette should get away from that being the selling point, because that should not be the selling point, the selling point is the quality and feel of the blades and the handle which are superior to anything else out there.

Haven’t tried them yet but noticed they are super cheap and affordable.

I went to the store today to buy some razors. I checked the Gillette razor handle which was priced at $11 but when I saw the extra cartridge price I turned away. $42 for 8 cartridges so basically $5 per cartridge is way too much (the one with exfoliating). I just left with the DSC $10 handle and $10 for 4 cartridge with 6 blades. Thinking about going with a safety razor as soon as I do more research.

I subscribed! This is one of the best razor 🪒 reviews. I have used Gillette Labs with the bar and I have used Fusion and the 4 blades. Problem with the Gillette blades are they’re way too expensive and they only last 1
month for me. The blades get dull pretty fast from the shaving cream and calcium deposit of the water. I wish the blades could last more than 6 months and they could make it happen but realistically, they want you to keep buying the blades just for marketing and profit reasons. I’m thinking of trying the Shick Quattro based on this review.

I don’t want him getting skin bumps. Also, they (most) don’t usually have a full beard at this age so I’m looking for something to keep the mustache trimmed and a little facial hair off. I picked up the Nivea sensitive, shaving cream and the Van de Haven shave butter for him to try out. What razor would you suggest?

@@tren507 Thanks so much for checking out the video and channel. Unfortunately I think the tools for young men are the same as tools for men and there isn’t any way to guarantee no razor bumps other than experimentation.
However I do think most quality cartridges would pose a good place to begin. For example I think a Mach 3 or Schick Quattro would be a great place to start. Especially for someone without a fully developed beard. No need for more blades and more risk of irritation at that point.
I also think a safety razor would work well for avoiding razor bumps. But I also think safety razors require touch and practice and maybe not the best place to start for that reason. But definitely something to keep in mind after a little experience.

Would have loved to see durability rating as it’s more relative to value. Personally I’ve found the Harry’s cartridges have a shorter lifespan lately; like 1/3 what they were a year ago. They used to last 8-10 days head and face shaving but now it’s like 3 days. I’m going back to the Schick Quattro Titanium. I always got a solid 10 days out of each cartridge for the 15+ years I used them.
