[Act 1] Solo Druid - Among Bug Bears and Goblins - Honour Mode

- We continue stumble our way into the druid life style. We're a strong Level 3½! It is time to take out the bugbear, goblins hiding in the passageway to the Grove, cultists and a big chunk of the Blighted Village. This goes mostly fine until it doesn't!
This time we shall give Spore Druid a go. Druids are a class I have extremely little experience with, so we shall see how it goes. I did an early wipe at the very first fight outside the Grove, so we are off to a rough start. This is technically run 2, but since the first ended so fast I don't really count it.

That Menacing Attack was an ass-clenching moment. I hate those dang Goblin Warriors so much. Good job with all those goblins! Smart use of the Halo of Spores to pop a healing potion.
Haha yes!! Been awhile since I last played Act 1 so I did not really consider ut until I saw that. Was a high chance for game over 😅
Incredible how Spike Growth just completely deletes early game mobs.

Ah yes, adventures in Torch bearing! I discovered the problem with that when my Druid was in Bear form and running down to the Zent traders under Waukeen's Rest. Apparently even while wildshaped and having a torch in your equipped weapon slot is enough to set things ablaze, as I found out when I ran across their oil trail and set off all the explosives down there, turning the whole cave hostile. Good times.

@@FriendlyLich Oh yeah, it was fine, save for the not getting the Titanstring Bow until Act 2 because of it. LOL
Look, if they didn't want their goddamn cave blown to pieces maybe they shouldn't have placed the goddamn barrels all over the goddamn place 😊
Which reminds me of all the barrels I've looted throughout the game and never used... and I'm currently in act 3 and only have like three major fights left before heading to the brain 🤔
@@Kasiarzynka Same. I just finished my first HM run, and the only thing I ended up actually using any barrels on was in the House of Hope... as soon as I teleported in, I placed 2 Smokepowder Barrels next to each of the 4 pillars, and just took them all out to start the fight.😁
@@The_Real_Fomsie it's my first HM too and I've only got Ansur, Orin and Gortash open. Ansur being entirely optional because Wyll's father spotted Karlach resurrecting a corpse in preparation for another boss fight (House of Hope I think) and decided to perma aggro Wyll, but I still kinda wanna do his fight.
Gotta start dragging those barrels back and forth, I suppose. But heyz at least I've been using scrolls and some coatings and throwables this run :D.
I love spike growth even at higher levels it’s pretty good for slowing enemies especially when you’re in a party and have someone else use something like hunger of hadar
Feels incredibly strong so far. Going to try it out in the Crypt and Moonbeam beneath Blighted Village. Fingers crossed!

Fascinating the different routes we all take. I tried entering the Blighted Village from that entrance, but it was such a mess, like your battle. Entering from the first gate and then heading up to the roof was So much easier for me. Throwing things down on those Goblins was so much more efficient. But granted, I wasn't solo.
I like entering from the slope where the bug bear is sleeping usually, but figured I'd try something different this time :). Yeeting goblins is so much fun too!
Also wow this makes me wanna try a spores Druid it applying on ranged attacks and lasting until rests is so much more appealing than in 5e
It’s quite crazy strong at this level! And agreed about 5e! I really like Larians changes overall ^^

@22:30 By the way, this might be easier, but Left Ctrl is a hot key for attacking with whatever weapon you have equipped. Easier than left click -> attack left click -> attack.

Passing the medicine check at 8:26 wouldn’t matter, every option in that dialogue leads to the same place, I’ve found.

2024-05-10, Patch 6: Confirmed that Elixir of Bloodlust’s +5 Temp HP per kill will refill, not replace, your pool. Thereby keeping Symbiotic Entity up far longer. Plus you gain an Action per kill too!
Now I need to find a way of mitigating incoming damage to make it last even longer… 🤓
Oh that’s some great information! I bought a Bloodlust Elixir from the halfling (?) vendor in the Grove. Been thinking about where to get best use from it 🤔.
If you don’t play solo you can use Warding Bond to mitigate damage.
Did you get instrument proficiency from Alfira? It’s iconic to see the instrument playing at the end of each video I’m excited to see you’re switching to violin this time!
I did run back to Alfira (cost an inspiration but worth it!) to grab proficiency right after realizing I had forgotten it 🏃🏻♀️➡️
Although me typing Violin instead of Lute was probably influenced by irl music at the time 😅. Maybe I should switch it up for this run!

I made it with Bings Image AI (same with rest of the thumbnails). It takes awhile to get something that looks good and only have 5 fingers though 😂.

Any special reason for choosing drow as a race?
Feels like a Tetragrammaton Cleric from Equilibrium when I run around with dual hand crossbows haha!
Main reason for choosing Drow is that it's a Drow. But ranged weaponry was a must for the class and I wanted to run something other than Bow of Awareness this time.

Feels fun so far but very different for me. I've been messing up quite a bit but not dead yet at least :D Wizard is 100% going to happen. It's my favorite class after all. In most games really. And it shall be no magic missiles in that run. Laugh a bit when he ran off to die like that, specially after warning me about the traps. I was really unprepared to that happening! :D

was wondering why did you attack the goblins at 24:54 , they won't give expi anymore and letting Andrick and Brynna go gives much more expi 70xp but you would be dealing with them at the goblin camp.
Fair points, I probably should had explained that. I'm going for a "purge all goblins" kind of feel and thought it fitting to take em out even without xp. Regarding Andrick and Brynna I just wanted to do something different since I always either send em to goblins or owlbear. :)
Got a question. Why is it that we can't see the temporary hitpoints on your character, is it a mod? I kept forgetting about darkones blessing on Kithari because I only saw the base hitpoints most of the time and now it seems the same is going on with the spore temp points.
I don't play with mods :). If you check beneath the portrait at 7:13 for example you can see it. Sometimes I might just not have temp hp so that could be the reason
@@FriendlyLich Ok I see now. I'm used to seeing temp hitpoints as yellow text on the party portrait side bar. I completely forgot that it looks different on the main portrait and is underneath instead of above the primary health.
