At least it didn't come with U2.
Worse: it came with #MeToo
@@SayAhh #ChildSlavery 😍
Even Worse,UsToo
Lol
Endeed!
"Nuggets." I like how DankPod's influence is spreading, lol.
I was waiting for someone to say this lol
heck, even the thumbnail screams “DankPods”
They both live in Australia
This entire video is Dankpods down to the inclusion of a brand new "aesthetic edition"
Edit: I just noticed even the thumbnail is Dankpods style
@@TuckerCreech lol, youre right, i forgot about that 😂
"Little nuggets of musical entertainment" I see what you did there... DankPods would be proud.
inb4 DankPods reply
Exactly what I thought when i saw the title
More restoration videos are in the works, just been having some issues getting them out :)
Ayo
Exciting !
No prob, take the time you need!
Nuggets!!!!!
You made a whole video about musical devices without mentioning sound quality 😆🤣
I need a Hugh Jeffreys and Dankpods collab, I would die happy
it’s possible if they want as both live in Aussie
@@mcbchannel7173the problem is if I recall correctly is Wade/dankpods is in Adelaide. Just a bit far across the country
Possible but unlikely, one in melbourne, one in SA so quite a while away
The most epic thing would be a triple collab with Smoorez as the third person. The aussie tech trio.
At least borrow his green iPad.
Dank and Hugh gotta do a collab. The nuggeteer meets the lord of the nuggs.
Hugh could help Dankpods restore some nuggets :D
@@justtomA89 That would be awesome. I want to see one of those many broken philips nuggets from the nugget dip to work again.
They did! Hugh tried to fix some of Dank’s nanos.
"OOOOOOHH MUH PUKCELL!!!" 😉🤣🤣
😎🇬🇧
@@turkicnomad5632 nah that was James. He has his own channel called "James Channel" where he shows off and fixes his insane retro vidya game collection, and also duct tapes together an SNES motherboard and a few other components to make it portable.
I like these types of videos. I know you run out of phones to repair, I love to see more different types of tech taken apart and explored.
The section with the zoom of the lizard made me just stand in shock. It was such a profound moment seeing that lizard lick its eye, and then out of my airpods came "sssssslllurp". At that moment, I realized that this is true art. Everything I saw in museums, everything people say is "art" is nothing when compared to this. Simply profound.
I fully agree 100% this was a moment for the channel 😋
If I remember, that video is actually Samsung's "Moments of everyday life" demo video that they used to preload on their devices. I had one on my Galaxy tab 2 as well
Ruizu is a somewhat popular brand among budget audiophiles in Indonesia. Sounds decent and most importantly, cheap.
It's downright bizarre seeing an Aliexpress listing that's pretty much honest. I am one of the weirdos who still likes having a dedicated music player so it's neat to see some people still making them without the nonsensical prices of audiophile level items.
Yup, I'm one of those weirdos too haha. Not having to rely on another service is one of the biggest reasons, since licenses expire or music gets removed for whatever reason. My music choice can be quite niche too at times and they aren't available on these services in the first place. Buying an album on services like BandCamp is also better for artists I believe.
Lol any more room on the weirdo boat😂, got myself a mp4 player early this year and I'm having fun listening to music.
Same here, still have mp3 player for play music
1:40 Wow, that MP3 player is small.
Oh wait, Hugh has one of those humongous Bluetooth speakers that looks like an Airpod earbud.
I remember him featuring the speaker in a previous video about aliexpress fruit clones.
Ruizu is a bit known (famous?infamous?) in the DAP space. They focus on the really budget market. They're fine for what they do and as you've said in the video, they don't lie about their device's specs. I think they've been releasing audio devices for around a decade now ?
Would love to see him get a hold of a Fiio M17 and a good set of headphones.
I remember all the demo media. I had an MP3 player from the same brand in 2018-2019, it was very similar to the one with touch buttons. It cost 40$ CAD on Amazon. It could read ebooks - I actually did read ebooks on the tiny little screen when I had nothing better to do at lunch in grade 7. (I didn't have a phone or friends) I distinctly remember the red fade background. The most annoying thing about it for me was that it could only play lossless files over a wired connection, no Bluetooth. Or course, at the time I didn't realize that Bluetooth SBC didn't have the bandwidth to support lossless audio, or that my Bluetooth audio devices didn't support LDAC, HWA, AAC, AptX, AptX HD, or any other lossless codec. I listened to one of my favourite songs in lossless for the first time on a little Bluetooth speaker (because of previously mentioned, I was using the 3.5mm in) and I swore it sounded better. To this day I'm not sure if that speaker was of a quality that I genuinely could hear a difference, but I know a lot more about tech now, and I use a set of Samson SR850's for high fidelity listening, through the Quad DAC on my LG V60. (I use USB Audio Player Pro {UAPP} if anyone's curious). It's safe to say I've changed a lot since then, seeing something very similar to that player in this video brought back a lot of memories from that time. I liked my Ruizu MP3 player. It did what it advertised.
Nice picture ||-//
@@peters.3228 thankss ||-//
Ruizu has been in the game for a long time. I actually spoke with their team in china when asking for warranty and stuff and they were really satisfying when in terms of response. I have used the android one although it sounds nice on paper they suck but their non android mp3 is surprisingly decent.
Actually owned a Ruizu A50 before transitioning to the A105 walkman, build quality is surprisingly nice for such a small nugget, the whole thing is milled out of aluminium, sounds pretty decent with a good low power dac inside, would 100% recommend to check it out if you can still find one.
My most user friendly do all device at the time was the Nokia N6110 Navigator: Slide phone with defined answering, very accurate navigation with display optimisation. To top it all was its MP3 playback capability with for the time it was built remained my favourite.
These AliExpress finds are truly intriguing. It's amazing how they resemble iconic devices like the iPod, and it's cool to see the insides and real specs
Imagine Hugh going through Dankpods most interesting nuggets
Honestly that one with all the audio lessons would be an amazing purchase for someone trying to learn English or Mandarin
2:27 This collection actually originated from Samsung. It was included on the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet from 2012, and it's called "Moments of Everyday Life" by Samsung.
One of my favorite CZcamsrs. Your subtle voice is soothing.
Well done
Hugh's tribute to Dankpods
I appreciate the non-soldered battery, although it will probably be impossible to get a replacement.
iPods with non-soldered batteries are better in this regard, since you can easily find replacement batteries for them.
Nope, just get a disposable vape and you'll get the right battery, or one close to it
@@tydshiin5783 I'm not gonna go around buying random crap in hopes that it'll have the right size battery.
Aliexpress probably has the answer, again.
Any volume limits on these? Over here in Europe phones have had such limiters in place for a few years, and it makes using a phone to power a car's aux input very difficult as they can't put out enough signal even at max volume. If you max the phone and the car stereo, you get something workable, but the second the traffic announcement comes on, you get shot in the leg by 2 speaker cones leaving their housings at high speed.
probably not as they are not from Europe or made in Europe
They won't have limiters but they might just be low power. Though these are likely repurposed cheap android phone so its probably fit for what you need, its always a bit of a gamble buying unregulated chinese stuff.
What's a traffic announcement does it override your phones music?
@@UrbanistBlooms
In a lot of countries car radios automatically switch to FM if an important announcement (especially people driving against direction on highways) is made. Annoying as frick when you just drive alone on some country road.
In an alternative dankpods world.😅
Love these new formats!
you give off the vibe of a more professional version of DankPods. not to knock you at all. I still really like your videos
2:34 I remember that slow-mo video, it was preloaded on my old Galaxy Tab 2, the title was something along the lines of "Moments of Everyday Life"
Actually, this isnt the first time ive heard of this company. Ive seen that exact company ive had a nugget just like that one with the remote controls. It was about 4 years ago as well. (Also, I used to play snake on it, so check if the nugget has snake)
I need more AliExpress nugget content!!
the tssssspppppp on the gecko licking part was my fav part 😂
That iPod Nano clone looks like an Mp4 Player that I got for Christmas in 2006. Also, that exact same test demonstration video in slow motion also came on a Chinese Android gaming tablet my father bought for me in 2014.
the thumbnail and the word "nuggets" in the title is screaming dankpods lmao
1:26 dankpods got this one in a video onece
Ayo I'm using the z80.
I love it for how non intrusive it is and being able to sideload poweramp and uapp in it is amazing when you don't want to carry bulky phones during travels
The mp 3 player with the random slow mo clips are sample videos showcasing the display performance. All earlier Samsung tablets used to come with one of those videos preloaded. Ahhhhhh the good old days.
That video reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 back in 2012 🤣
Brisk, to the point, interesting content... what's not to love?
The slomo clips from 2:37 are from samsung, I had that exact clip on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 a decade ago... What a throwback!
Ruizu is famous, here in indonesia. They made a decent DAP with good quality but with cheap price. The x02 type is having quiet a hype here some years ago. Many audio enthusisast suggesting a newbie to buy this brand for their first DAP
I just watch your dual sim mod on an iphone. If I remember correctly, you stated that removing the adhesive with tweezers is exhausting. I got a solution to that. Use a power drill to remove the adhesive. Wrap the adhesive around the drill bit and then lightly pull the trigger.
That video on the first player is actually from the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 lineup. That video was played in stores as a demo and was included on all of those tablets.
drinking mojitos in havana is a subtle flex you've thrown there lol, and i like it !
The icons on the first phone (the music, video and settings icons) look strikingly similar to that of ColorOS 7/11. Not sure how they managed to do that, but it is an interesting detail nonetheless.
I love your content. You never disappoint us
love the vids keep up the good work.
I absolutely love the back panel on the Android one.
MY FAVOURATE TYPES OF VIDEOS
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I absolutely love this concept and would greatly appreciate it if you could create more content like this in the future.
That slow mo clip came straight out of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Demo Unit Phones back then 😂 I used to see those videos on loop everyday when I worked at a phone store
YOU GOT THE FUTURE NUGG WITH MP5 COMPATIBILITY
I actually bought a RUIZU X02 a whopping 7 years ago for my mom! Paid 16 bucks at the time. It did the job, just the interface was kinda crap. Still got it.
Aesthetic edition MP3?
“g e n u i n e o r i g i n a l”
That slow mo video was the preloaded samsung demo video for my 2012 Galaxy Tab 2 😂
these Ruizu nuggets are actually very popular among the budget audiophile scene in Indonesia
That little nano sized one is an interesting one. Its OS/display looks surprisingly responsive and fluid for being something custom. Wonder what it is. Also "russo" makes me wonder if its russian translation isn't going to use cyrillic letters. :p That'd be goofy.
That All DX clip is Samsung's tablet display/screensaver demo I think, it's called "Moments of Everyday Life", available on YT
Fiio x1 in the car connected with an aux cable, and an x5 for the house with some decent wired headphones
Hugh just made a DankPods episode, I love this
That slo-mo video used to be on my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 out of the box when I bought it...
Nice video thank you. Did you check out the bluetooth codec or the built ih DAP.
i have a LG thinnQ 7 thats a terrible phone but a great mp3 player though it has
a lousy bluetooth codec selection.
I had the older generation of that little Ruizu player, it had 16gb internal with expansion, the 3.5 jack was on the left of the device and the refresh rate was like 5hz and terribly unresponsive.
No one asked but its 2023 and im still using my old htc Desire 510, rooted with viper4android and a nice 3000mah battery with a 126gb microsd
Before this video I got an ad for Temu 😂
I've pretty much given up on finding a music player with expandable storage that does *not* use a touchscreen but has physical buttons instead, so it can be used blindly while in your jacket or whatever. There only seem to be junk noname ones left. I don't wanna stare at the damn thing because I'm forced to use the touchscreen for every basic feature. Why does no one make a decent, *simple* device like that anymore?!
Good ol nugs but we didn't get any blown up headphones, sexy speaker or a single gritting. frank would be disappointed
And there is still a market for dedicated music nuggets. Even Sony still makes them, from small nuggets like these to proper hifi things for four digits.
I wouldn't even mind getting a decently sized small nugget. Something with lots of storage, expendable, with long battery life.
I know a bit of chinese, and that song in 3:40 is a song from Taiwanese pop singer called Jay Chou, and the song itself is from 2022, which is quite recent, so the content is at least new, I guess.
2:29 that video also came in my galaxy tab 2 7, 10 years ago
2:29 That slow mode video is the official Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 preloaded video demo
2:38 thats a video from early samsung android devices (android jellybean, sasmsung s3 and earlier) i think the name went something along the lines of "moments of life" the ending of the video would have the old samsung logo splash with the classic samsung jingle everybody knows and loves. they mightve cut that out.
I've looked at getting one of these over the summer (in fact I probably had them in my AliExpress cart) but decided against it and reused my old android for my music issues.
2023: Unboxed by Hugh.
2024 :Nugg luck dip.
The slow mo vids were featured in the samsung galaxy tab 2 I owned. I guess it was there to show the screen’s vividness. Cant say the same for the nugget😂
Intresting but I have my LGV30+ that is old but as a DAP its still first class, but that's thanks to the ChiFi range of great IEM's out there.
2:27 "It's got a speaker! Woah, is that Alka-Seltzer?? Wha-wh-I don't even know what's happening. Is this an ad, am I watching an ad; is, have I-uh- LOOK OUT STELLA'S WATER HERE, WOAH IT'S A BUG"
The android powered one seems like an actually usable and a decent dedicated music player, I kinda want one lmao
Just buy an old LG with the Quad-DAC if you want a budget music player; they're going to be more responsive and sound better than a super budget device like this. Pair it with a sub $100 in-line DAC like a Shanling UA-1 for a decent entry level set up (MAKE SURE THE PHONE CAN SUPPORT USB AUDIO OUT, my LG G6 won't do it and I can't figure out why...which is annoying because I spent a few hundred on a Fiio BTR7 primarily as an upgrade to the LG's Quad DAC).
Nah LG Sucks
Hugh Jeffreys is now a nuggeteer
Thanks for reveiw ,Acually people not interested in these stuffs anymore it became from the past .
I have 2 iPhone 4s on iOS 6.1.3, i use both to hear music and sometimes like a basic phone (phone calls and text messages)
I agree with you, is better to keep using an old device like a mp3 player or something like that.
these audio players are popular for those in the military due to smartphone restrictions due to sensitive materials, when i was in the army i had to have my smartphone cameras removed and the lens sandblasted or use one of those dumb phones that can only call and sms
The Great thing is that the Chinese, despite how weird they are, at least they are still producing Portable Media Players (MP3 Player), in contrast to phones, at least they stay true to their music and keeping their headphone jack and Micro SD card Slots. I do agree, if you have an old phone with the same specs and comforts of an MP3 Player, let's keep it going for as long as that lives! Great Video!
Most phones that aren't Samsung or Apple still have those things
And as the years go by, those companies are slowly removing them. They started with the Flagship, then Mid-Tier, and soon, the budget phones are next.
2:36 That’s A Samsung “Normal Life” Commercial From The S3 Era. I Know This Because I Found It On An Old Brand New Samsung Tablet That I Found 2 Years Ago.
I should get one of these, because I just have like 4500 of my own songs on a 32GB microSD card.
I remember when I got a new phone as I had a massive music library. I used my old Windows Phone as a mp3 player
Not bad, not bad at all! Personally I would go with the Android media player, as it would allow the use of apps such as Spotify, CZcams and Tunein Radio as well as downloaded MP3 files.
And yes, I would also re-use an old mobile phone, although when the old mobile phone in question had just Android 4.2, and therefore cannot download any modern apps whatsoever, the use of it as a media player quickly vanishes, since if I want something for just pure MP3 playback, I can use my 80GB iPod Classic.
Hi, great videos you have... I wonder if you have faced an issue like the one I have with my iMC3 Altec Lansing Ipod DOCK, it plays for 20 minutes and then heats up close to the power on button. I just dont know how to fix things like it or if it may be possible to do it. What can you tell me?... I am old school, I love to keep my old things working (I still have a Pentium 1 Desktop with windows 2000 running, and I enjoy it a lot!!)
“Commonly unheard of” 😤
the clip at 2:30 is called "moments of everyday life" and came preloaded in my samsung galaxy tab 2
The 6th & 7th gen ipod nanos actually did have touchscreens
3:53 The very bottom option (Korean) is kind of interesting because it is word "Korean", but English word Korean has two meanings: one for people, and one for language, and their translation was the former.
But if they were translating firmware from Chinese, this wouldn've happened because CJK languages have separate word for each case. So it sounds like that it might've actually translated from English, at least for that language.
I've certainly seen this kind of translation before(or at least I think so), where Nintendo seemingly translated word "Linear" in "Linear PCM" to Japanese, and then translated that Japanese to Korean(Li-ni-a).
Hugh, you never said how these devices sound with proper earphones. I would love to know how they sound with Sony XM4/5.
How do they sound with headphoens though? I imagine not very good bust still would have been good to know (not that anyone should ever buy these). I think there's a market for a ~$100 MP3 player if it has good audio quality and can drive high end headphones.
Two of the nano generations did come with a touch screen (gen 6 and 7) 😇
Just get a Shanling M0 or M0 Pro if you want a tiny portable HD music player.
I love your videos 😊
Yay more nugget more plz!
can’t wait for the hugh jeffreys x DankPods collaboration
1:25 It's the same nugget from that one dankpods video
The slow motion clips were partially stolen, to be precise, from Samsung. Those were demo videos for the galaxy tab 2 series!
A few shandies before this vid Hugh? Still, love your work!
