    Hey heads up: I encountered the 0 byte storage issue with my device before while messing around with a custom rom, the fix should be a factory reset. Hope this helps!

    • @limpbiskit66
      @limpbiskit66 Před 7 měsíci +33

      I've had this issue too. Several times with different phones .It took some messing around don't remember a factory reset alone being the solution. Think one of them was a Samsung and odin with a repartiton played a part

    • @george2781
      @george2781 Před 7 měsíci +39

      @@limpbiskit66I also have a Samsung, the cause of the issue was a feature of the custom ROM formatting the micro SD card to be used as internal storage then removing said micro SD, I think since the phone expected the storage to be on the SD which wasn't inserted it didn't know what to do. A factory reset from the recovery mode fixed it for me, but your experience could vary. It could absolutely be to do with partitioning, but overall it's an issue I can't find very much about other than my own experience with it and how I fixed it.

    • @rpst39
      @rpst39 Před 7 měsíci +2

      Yep, it just needs the data partition formatted. I kinda skipped over that step while installing lineageos to my phone and it showed I had more than 100gb free but trying to install anything from app store it gave me insufficient storage errors.

      i've had an old samsung galaxy note(gt -n7000) with similar problem but it reported that there is about 33 GB of data on a 16 GB storage i needed to re flash it and it's working fine since

    • @v0xl
      @v0xl Před 7 měsíci

      experienced that on my huawei (android 5.1) phone in 2017, without custom rom, just stuck on 0kb free. (it just happens sometimes when you run ot of memory, it gets completely stuck)
      yeah factory reset (through the settings, not the data partition wipe) solves this

    Windows phone was ahead of its time, and definitely much more refined than many android skins back then. It does look dated now, but it had a lot of potential. It was my first experience with a mobile operating system, and I got a Samsung Galaxy S3 later on, which was somewhat of a step down in user interface design, but it had the benefit of using Android and having many more apps available.

    How absolutely gorgeous is the HTC 8X... And the UI was so modern and flowy. I've always wanted a Windows Phone device, idk why, but never got around buying one at their prime. The UI clearly passed the test of time. I should probably get a Lumia 1020 and/or a 950 XL.

    You got lucky with the Samsung. Some Android phones brands now come with credential persistence even after reset (to prevent data theft by extracting the nand, not unlike iDevices) and Samsung is usually extra iffy with this due to Knox. I was 100% expecting it not to clear the pin after factory reset but maybe the option for this was not enabled in settings by the previous owner.

      Not to mention that in the latest security patch (August 2023) nothing you do can bypass the phone's FRP lock. Tried bypassing a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G for 4 days straight, using almost a hundred tools I found on the internet, the only tools that were actually very close to bypassing it were SamFw and another tool (Android Utility?) that I can't recall its name. But then Android hides the USB debug message, intentionally breaks the package manager so APKs can't be loaded and when you try using the talkback method, it starts yelling "Stop" at you. The closest I got was with browser exploits and entering my own Samsung account to download a temporary launcher, but then all APKs I try loading wouldn't install and when you reboot the phone it's back at the Hello screen.

    I was looking for a Windows Phone, but was weary because of the possible complications from old hardware. Thing is, Windows Phone is like a cult classic which, boxed, can go for sometimes as high as the original price, 10 years later. This phone in a fairly good condition is certainly a find, and at $40 is like a steal

    Thanks to people like you, technology that would be ewaste is recycled and repurposed for futher use. Thanks to your inspirational videos, I replaced the battery in my OnePlus 8 using iFixit and it cost me around $25 total and thanks to the battery bloating, the back panel was already half off the phone. I carefully worked the adhesive to removed the rest and replaced the battery. As I bought a new OnePlus 8 pro to replace this phone to use as my daily phone, I now have a backup phone to use should I need to. The problem with having a phone that becomes dangerous to use is that one doesn't have an alternative. Now I do. All I have to do is to swap the sim card and I can go on with my life. Repair is very important and thankfully I bought a several year old phone (top of the line) at a serious discount over its original cost. You are a true inspiration and thanks for what you do!
