Everything from Studio Ghibli is so freaking magical! I grew up watching their movies. But I must say Spirited Away is my all time favorite. It is truly legendary, the first time I watched it was when I was 10. The movie is a masterpiece that I don't think any, any animated movie can beat, not even Toy Story (im a big fan of Pixar too). It's just so magical, so sophisticated, the drawing, the story, the music, from emotional to happy to scary. It is the best of the best!

The animation was both beautiful and stunning!! Every movie from Studio Ghibli are amazing but it takes great work to make it magical. What I like most about these movies are the themes. Every story has a meaning to them. Just like the movies from that studio. For example, Pompoko. If you haven't seen it, then I highly recommend you watch and spoil alert. If you did, you should know what I mean. Pompoko is about Japanese Raccoon Dogs that have an ability to shape-shift and try to protect their homelands from human Construction. Sadly they fail and the movie shown us a lesson. It's good to remember the past but it's best to let them go so you can see what your future holds. The movie is so heartbreaking and stunning. The music is lovely and animation is great. The ending literally brought tears to my eyes. I can go on my list on other movies but I won't waste your time. I really missing movies like these. Those were Golden Years of my life with amine.

I am not fan of Toy Story either and Spirited Away is far more superior, but I disagree with saying that CGI is not real art, It is art and pretty real as well, CGI means Computer Generated Image, but it doesn't mean that Computer is making it 100% itself, It still requires artist to make design, references 3D model ++++ So It is a lot of art. It is not the same type of traditional animation where everything is drawn but still can't say CGI is not art. It is just another type of it.

I was so amazed by howl's castle, the way she was not angry about her cursed stage, where she turned into a old woman, yet still made jokes about it on herself and she was helping the witch who cursed her too. I have never seen such kind of forgiving films, mostly its always about tit for tat.

    My Top 3:
    1. Princess Mononoke:
This film was the first film to truly wow me in a long time. It is cliche to use the word masterpiece to describe something you enjoy, but it is the only word that does justice to it. The characters are so well crafted and balanced. Ashitaka as a warrior/philosopher is fantastic. The story is so nuanced and balanced in the midst of clear themes. And the soundtrack and visuals are amazing. It is a grand adventure in every sense.
    2. Kiki’s Delivery Service:
Kiki is probably the most winsome character in any film I can think of. This film just makes you smile as you see an extremely likeable character learn to find her place in the big wide world. The idea of learning to balance the demands of doing something you love while at the same time needing to make money is relatable. And a reminder to not lose the “magic.”
    3. From Up on Poppy Hill:
I see this film consistently considered as one of if not the weakest Ghibli film, and I understand the complaints. However, this film is so charming to me. Umi and Shun are so likeable to me. The scene where they are riding on Shun’s bicycle is pure magic. This film has such a nostalgia inducing score and atmosphere for me as well.
    Honorable Mentions:
My Neighbor Totero, Porco Rosso, Castle in the Sky, and Whisper of the Heart.

    My Top 5
    1. Princess Mononoke - really communicated a very deep message that is still and will always be relevant. Oh God, I really love this movie.
    2. When Marnie Was Here - this movie somehow helped me get through my depression (so do all other Ghibli movies tbh) but this just left such a meaningful mark to me
    3. Spirited Away - an eye candy and opener, everyone’s favorite, and how Miyazaki perfectly used rich cultural references really translates this movie into a masterpiece 💯
    4. Howl’s Moving Castle - Don’t we all just can’t help but fall in love with Howl’s character? Another masterpiece from Miyazaki! Gotta share this (probably true) theory: Howl has been known to search pretty girls and break hearts but he was just actually looking for Sophie 😫 because Sophie told young Howl and Calcifer to “Wait for me in the future”. Also, Howl’s first line to Sophie was “Hey there sweetheart, I’ve been looking everywhere for you” COINCIDENCE? I think NOT
    5. The rest of Ghibli Movies!!! Every movie is really worth watching
    My honorable mentions would be:
    • Tale of Princess Kaguya - For making me appreciate life even more. Its ending really moved me
    • Whisper of the Heart - Watched this just when I needed it, when I was feeling lost in life and needed some motivation to get started..
    • From Up on Poppy Hill - the girl character is my personal favorite
    • Totoro - Even my mom enjoyed watching this!!!

When Marnie was There is definitely one of the best to come out of the studio, the storyline is beautiful and heartwrenching, the animation and art is beautiful, and the characters are memorable, endearing, and complex.

I personally love "When Marnie was There" The character design and back story for both Marnie and Ana is just *Chefs Kiss*. It brings a tear to my eye.
Also Grave of the Fireflies , I've watched it twice and I don't regret it. Well maybe I do but a little cry is fine. But I didn't do a little cry, when I watched I was quite new to anime and manga so would recommend watching something like kaguya first because it will prepare you a bit more for grave of the Fireflies.
Princess Mononoke is just amazing a simple well animated film with a lot of depth and thought put into it, can be a little gory but it's a great film. Even though there are some villains, there is not a single bad character.
Now here's a controversial one, I really think Spirited Away is very overrated, it feels bland and slow a bit at times, some scenes are just dragged on to much , and its not just me, my friend who watches a lot of anime agrees, but different people like different things and I respect that. Also the character design in spirited away for chihiro feels a little bland, wouldve liked a bit of backstory
Anyways all the Ghibli films I have watched so far are all quite amazing, but I'm not so certain about this earwig and the witch or whatever (feel free to correct me) I'll still try and watch it because it's Ghibli but mmmm not so sure, 3D just doesn't feel *Ghibli*

Princess Mononoke is my #1. The characters, the music, the animation, and all work so well. It’s such a beautiful story of cultures clashing, love, and so many other perfectly executed themes. It will always be my number 1. and I watch it religiously. Spirited away is surely worthy of the top three and all other films I can happily watch as well :)
