There is no top ten best Ghibli. They're all best.
I agree. They all speak to your heart and take up residence there. Best stories, best animation, best art work, best music.
It's no wonder that some people have said that they want to live in a Ghibli movie.
Well, I agree for the most part. I mean, Tales of the Earthsea was okay. Not great.

Most Ghibli films really have something to offer all ages.
As a kid I thought Porco Rosso was fun but not one of the better ones, but after rewatching it as an adult...it’s an underrated masterpiece.
It is far and away their best film in my eyes.

It's the first Ghibli film I watched and I thought it was such a beautiful film
It's sad that I spent my entire childhood watching Disney movies
If I had a time machine I would go back as a child and watch all the studio ghibli movies......
andrea105 beautygirl i watched grave of the fireflies as a kid and i was traumatized my parents were like “its a ghibli movie its fine!” Lol
whats wrong with disney movies though?
I watched both in my childhood but I admit I had a clear tendency to watch Disney movies most of the time.
I grew up in Europe so I was never introduced to Ghibli movies much, I found them on my own as they were on TV which was rare.
Same with Anime, if I hasn't developed an interest in them on my own, nobody would've showed me how great they are.
When i was a kid i didn't know they were from ghibli
Disney distributed most of these movies in America so technically they are Disney movies

What painful about Grave of the Fireflies was it is based on true story. GOF is truly a masterpiece.
One of the things that makes me happy to be born in Japan is the Ghibli movie. We all watch Ghibli movies from an early age, and every time we watch them, they give us new discoveries. People who I thought they were villains can see it from a different perspective as I grow older. And it brings nostalgia as if you were back home. I'm glad that people all over the world love Ghibli! Thank you from japan🇯🇵!
Hi
what makes my neighbor totoro so good is that its not 100% clear that is totoro real or just a product of the girls imagination as an escape of the harsh reality of their mothers sickness.
I'm glad someone else thought this and typed it. I felt the same but after a few blunts with a friend, her and I decided to agree that Totoro was real and he was linked to the girls because they needed some help while they were going through a rough time at a young age.
I think the actual idea is that mei was lost and actually drowned and her sister went to totoro to reunite them cuz he is the angel of the dead and cat bus is actually the grim reaper and the mother said she thought she saw them cuz she was dying of tuberculosis
@@plskillme9475 if I remember correctly it was official that the theory of mei dying was false.

i cry 30 minute straight, lol, it was most hearthbreaking movie i ever see
Princess Mononoke is my favorite. Sometimes I remember it randomly when going about my day and it hits me HARD. The themes and messages in this movie are so real, and the art and music are absolutely beautiful. The Legend of Ashitaka, Ashitaka and San....these songs alone are worth the heartache and beauty of this film.

True!
Well said Andrew! I agree, why dispute and argue which is the best when they are ALL amazing.
Agree 😊
yes, agree
Everything from Studio Ghibli is so freaking magical! I grew up watching their movies. But I must say Spirited Away is my all time favorite. It is truly legendary, the first time I watched it was when I was 10. The movie is a masterpiece that I don't think any, any animated movie can beat, not even Toy Story (im a big fan of Pixar too). It's just so magical, so sophisticated, the drawing, the story, the music, from emotional to happy to scary. It is the best of the best!
Hoang LE my too!
Hoang LE
The animation was both beautiful and stunning!! Every movie from Studio Ghibli are amazing but it takes great work to make it magical. What I like most about these movies are the themes. Every story has a meaning to them. Just like the movies from that studio. For example, Pompoko. If you haven't seen it, then I highly recommend you watch and spoil alert. If you did, you should know what I mean. Pompoko is about Japanese Raccoon Dogs that have an ability to shape-shift and try to protect their homelands from human Construction. Sadly they fail and the movie shown us a lesson. It's good to remember the past but it's best to let them go so you can see what your future holds. The movie is so heartbreaking and stunning. The music is lovely and animation is great. The ending literally brought tears to my eyes. I can go on my list on other movies but I won't waste your time. I really missing movies like these. Those were Golden Years of my life with amine.
toy story??!! that doesn't come anywhere near any studio ghibli film! It's all CGI no real art, unlike these animes. Different genre if you ask me...
I see... I love Kiki's delivery service cuz it was my childhood movie and I never forget how amazing studio gihbli is! I wonder how many movies they made? I agree with you!
I am not fan of Toy Story either and Spirited Away is far more superior, but I disagree with saying that CGI is not real art, It is art and pretty real as well, CGI means Computer Generated Image, but it doesn't mean that Computer is making it 100% itself, It still requires artist to make design, references 3D model ++++ So It is a lot of art. It is not the same type of traditional animation where everything is drawn but still can't say CGI is not art. It is just another type of it.
Studio Ghibli brought us more than animations.
They gave us a childhood, a warm feeling to the soul and heart, that can't be replaced ever again
I was so amazed by howl's castle, the way she was not angry about her cursed stage, where she turned into a old woman, yet still made jokes about it on herself and she was helping the witch who cursed her too. I have never seen such kind of forgiving films, mostly its always about tit for tat.

1) Kiki’s delivery service
2) whispers of the heart

The first words of the video "They set standard for Japanese Animation"
Ahem, they set the standard for World animation!!!
My Top 3:
1. Princess Mononoke:
This film was the first film to truly wow me in a long time. It is cliche to use the word masterpiece to describe something you enjoy, but it is the only word that does justice to it. The characters are so well crafted and balanced. Ashitaka as a warrior/philosopher is fantastic. The story is so nuanced and balanced in the midst of clear themes. And the soundtrack and visuals are amazing. It is a grand adventure in every sense.
2. Kiki’s Delivery Service:
Kiki is probably the most winsome character in any film I can think of. This film just makes you smile as you see an extremely likeable character learn to find her place in the big wide world. The idea of learning to balance the demands of doing something you love while at the same time needing to make money is relatable. And a reminder to not lose the “magic.”
3. From Up on Poppy Hill:
I see this film consistently considered as one of if not the weakest Ghibli film, and I understand the complaints. However, this film is so charming to me. Umi and Shun are so likeable to me. The scene where they are riding on Shun’s bicycle is pure magic. This film has such a nostalgia inducing score and atmosphere for me as well.
Honorable Mentions:
My Neighbor Totero, Porco Rosso, Castle in the Sky, and Whisper of the Heart.
Howl's moving castle is one of my favourites!

*Only Yesterday* is a beautiful and inspiring movie. It makes you question whether you have achieved all that you wanted to when you were a kid. The simplicity and innocence in this film hit you with the nostalgia of your lost childhood. You easily connect with the protagonist and her life. Infact, watching this film will make you feel like actually living her life. It's simply an adorable movie. A must watch for all the Ghibli fans out there.
What?! Grave of the Fireflies in no.7? It tore my heart the way no other movie did.

2. Spirited Away
3. When Marnie was There
My Favs
Solid list! Spirited Away has always been my favorite but as I grow older Princess Mononoke becomes so much more relevant to today's world.
My Top 5
1. Princess Mononoke - really communicated a very deep message that is still and will always be relevant. Oh God, I really love this movie.
2. When Marnie Was Here - this movie somehow helped me get through my depression (so do all other Ghibli movies tbh) but this just left such a meaningful mark to me
3. Spirited Away - an eye candy and opener, everyone’s favorite, and how Miyazaki perfectly used rich cultural references really translates this movie into a masterpiece 💯
4. Howl’s Moving Castle - Don’t we all just can’t help but fall in love with Howl’s character? Another masterpiece from Miyazaki! Gotta share this (probably true) theory: Howl has been known to search pretty girls and break hearts but he was just actually looking for Sophie 😫 because Sophie told young Howl and Calcifer to “Wait for me in the future”. Also, Howl’s first line to Sophie was “Hey there sweetheart, I’ve been looking everywhere for you” COINCIDENCE? I think NOT
5. The rest of Ghibli Movies!!! Every movie is really worth watching
My honorable mentions would be:
• Tale of Princess Kaguya - For making me appreciate life even more. Its ending really moved me
• Whisper of the Heart - Watched this just when I needed it, when I was feeling lost in life and needed some motivation to get started..
• From Up on Poppy Hill - the girl character is my personal favorite
• Totoro - Even my mom enjoyed watching this!!!

Every time I listen the music when the brother burn his sister, I just can’t hold my tears. That’s incredible sometimes, I hate the army of Japan, but sympathize with the ordinary people, that’s the main idea of the film, the ordinary are also those victims. Not only the neighbor nations.
It made me cry for the first time in over 3 years
Ever since I watched that movie, any time I see one of this little tin candy cans I nearly burst into tears.
Blueline It left me so heart broken, I don't even know if I can watch the film again...😭
I am playing this music every morning welcoming my kindergarten students to classroom. The music brings calmness as they enter and play quietly waiting for class to begin. Thank you
Seriously 'When Marnie was there' is underrated I mean that anime is a masterpiece 😤❤
Thank you Studio Ghilbi for making my childhood and teenage years amazing
Gosh, when Marnie was there made me cry so much, it’s the kind of movie that leaves you thinking nonstop 😭❤️
EXACTLY!!! I felt so empty after watching it ngl. It wasn’t a bad movie (it was GREAT) it was just so deep.
i didn't like it at all
Zainab Aljbore hm
Same for me, if only I have the strength to watch it again.
YUP
I absolutely love howl's moving castle and spirited away. They are totally amazing!😍😍😍😍😍
spirited away and howl’s moving castle are in my heart, since my childhood up until now.
When Marnie was There is definitely one of the best to come out of the studio, the storyline is beautiful and heartwrenching, the animation and art is beautiful, and the characters are memorable, endearing, and complex.
I absolutely agree!
1. Spirited away
2. Howl's moving castle
3. Princess Mononoke
4. The cat returns
Is my top 4 favorite :)
i agreed with you
I personally love "When Marnie was There" The character design and back story for both Marnie and Ana is just *Chefs Kiss*. It brings a tear to my eye.
Also Grave of the Fireflies , I've watched it twice and I don't regret it. Well maybe I do but a little cry is fine. But I didn't do a little cry, when I watched I was quite new to anime and manga so would recommend watching something like kaguya first because it will prepare you a bit more for grave of the Fireflies.
Princess Mononoke is just amazing a simple well animated film with a lot of depth and thought put into it, can be a little gory but it's a great film. Even though there are some villains, there is not a single bad character.
Now here's a controversial one, I really think Spirited Away is very overrated, it feels bland and slow a bit at times, some scenes are just dragged on to much , and its not just me, my friend who watches a lot of anime agrees, but different people like different things and I respect that. Also the character design in spirited away for chihiro feels a little bland, wouldve liked a bit of backstory
Anyways all the Ghibli films I have watched so far are all quite amazing, but I'm not so certain about this earwig and the witch or whatever (feel free to correct me) I'll still try and watch it because it's Ghibli but mmmm not so sure, 3D just doesn't feel *Ghibli*
Grave of the fireflies made a mark on my soul and it'll always be there.
I knew spirited away had to be 1st
Makes sense. Spirited Away is one of their best movies
FuelDa2 me too
FuelDa2 yeah me too :(
FuelDa2 Same
One of my favourite movies
Princess Mononoke is my #1. The characters, the music, the animation, and all work so well. It’s such a beautiful story of cultures clashing, love, and so many other perfectly executed themes. It will always be my number 1. and I watch it religiously. Spirited away is surely worthy of the top three and all other films I can happily watch as well :)
Tom Andrew yeah, I fell in love with ghibli studio throughout this movie :)
Absolute best film ever
Agreed ❤
The animals were the best characters, as well as the princess.
Ashitake is the most bad ass character EVER
I def love Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind because of the Giant Warrior scene. It's amazing
I’m glad only yesterday made honorable mentions at least. It’s criminally underrated. Love the video!
me before: i love disney

Grave of the fireflies always kills me. I can’t go 10 minutes without getting depressed
dead inside Thatsvwhy i have been putting the movie off for so long. I’m afraid that i won’t be happy with the ending or that i’ll be sad. i’ll watch it someday when my mental health is stable LOL
I’ve been wanting to watch that movie for so long but I know l’m not emotionally prepared ... I saw this one SAD 😔 scene of the movie which basically spoils the whole thing and just from that I was emotionally scarred and I think about it all the time till this day. I don’t think I can handle it
Georgia Deli I love the movie, it’s incredible, but I don’t think I can watch it a second time without tearing up 😔

All of these movies are timeless and send a powerful message in their own unique imaginative way.
