- In this video I will be flashing a Sonoff with Tasmota. First we'll solder on some header pins. After the pins are attached we'll connect our serial adapter and flash Tasmota. Its pretty easy and straight forward but you can cause damage if you're not careful.
Do this at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage or harm to you or your equipment.
You will need a few things to follow along with this video.
1. USB to TTL serial adapter - amzn.to/34FJFM2
2. Header wires - amzn.to/3oJuGrH
3. Header PINs opposite of your wires - amzn.to/31LimP9
4. Sonoff switch - amzn.to/33qQgZS
5. Soldering Iron - amzn.to/3tk6KOw
6. Some solder - amzn.to/3LxOace
7. Indoor extension cable - amzn.to/34fmN6k

perfect instructions... thanks.
Me funciono perfecto en Windows 11 con el adaptador USB TO TTL FT232RL y SONOFF BASICR2. Muy agradecido de mi parte. Saludos desde Argentina
It seems like a good guide, but the music is unhelpful.
What's the lifespan of most of your flashed smart devices? Is it worth the effort and risk?
I get very annoyed when I type Tasmota then see a list Sonoff with Tasmota and home Assistant, I just wish someone would do Tasmota on its own, and list all the wonderful things that can be done? Like the above, cheers
I got a sonoff iFan 04 and wired it up using the same stuff you listed. My iFan doesn't appear to power on when I plug in. I checked the wiring and have tried holding the boot button and not holding it. No lights. I tried installing the tasmoto software anyway, but it fails to initialize. Unsure how to check if it's work or not.
What does it do extra after this operation? Doesn’t using sonoff app do the same thing?
Having an issue where the USB adapter shows on COM ports when plugged in while it is Not connected to Sonoff, but once connected (pin outs confirmed) the RX and TX lights remain constantly on and the adapter is not recognized. Any idea why this might be happening?
Hi, wonder if you know what to make sonoff with tosmota to work with the new smartthing edge hub?
I'm not familiar with the Smart Things Edge platform. But this might be helpful.
