    So much better than Gracie Breakdowns that seem self important and go 15 minutes longer than is necessary.

    Hey Lachie, your videos rules! I really benefit from your approach to instructing, something I'd really like to figure out. I've been working these lockdown passes on 10P grapplers for several months now, and thanks to how you've explained them, I'm having heaps of success passing and taking the back from here. Cheers coach!

    I learned this ( the lockdown) back in the early 2000's from a JJJ guy. He called it a Scorpion Lock so that is how I have always described it. Used it during many of my mma fights for years. Talking about the half guard lockdown. Anyway was working out with a guy today who I was talking about it and he called it the lockdown and couldn't remember the escape so I'm hitting yt looking for good skills to add to my toolbox.

    very nice vid... great reminder on not flaring the elbow when you push the knee down... I think 10th planet calls that 100%.
    Just as you say to be aware of the kimura, I've also had to be keenly aware of "free NJ" on the other arm... basically getting rubber guarded or oma plata'd from 1/2 guard.

    Reaching down like you did just another third way is exactly the way to do it. It always works 100% then if they were in a gi You can reach through grab the side of the leg go knee the belly! And then it’s really easy to just step through and do whatever you do it’s a very easy thing I worked on tonight with my guys that’s how I learned it and it never fails

    Good and simple demonstration. The only problem is that the guy doing the lockdown doesn't have upper body control. Most escapes shown on CZcams feature people who aren't very familiar with this position and they are just having a leg connection. As a general rule: if you don't have the upper body control... You don't have a lockdown. That being said. Without upper body control these escapes are great.

    Anymore insight on saving the knee from the electric chair when used as a submission? (when the opponent happens to have the right body and tech. to severely damages the knee from the position and cares less for the sweep)?

    • @prandz420
      @prandz420 Před 4 lety +1

      Jared McLuskey I thought electric chair was mainly attacking the groin rather than knee?

    • @MrGrunt-dw7lg
      @MrGrunt-dw7lg Před 4 lety +1

      stretch your groin and hips a lot so when you get caught you can just eat it

    • @prandz420
      @prandz420 Před 4 lety +1

      Mr.Grunt yea agreed it’s pretty hard to sub someone with this if they have decent flexibility. Don’t have to be insanely flexible either

  • @ZombieSahara_official

    6:30 chair

  • @Grapplinginstructionals

    The only problem with these kinds of Lockdown escapes is that the guy who has the Lockdown does not have any upper body control. Without upper body control, there is no Lockdown. There are no easy ways to pass the Lockdown, especially not the Lotus Lockdown which is a modified version.
